Module's overheating assessment with the use of supply current waveform analysis

Design and manufacturing of electronic modules is a difficult process - on the one hand there arises a problem of developing the inner circuitry of best possible performance, on the other hand -building it at the lowest possible price. When it comes to cutting expenses on production, even the smallest changes in materials can critically influence the total manufacturing costs. The paper introduces a method of detecting certain module's overheating levels without a necessity of using temperature sensors - devices generating unnecessary fabrication expenses. The assessment of temperature can be performed with the use of supply current waveform analysis - particular changes in current function caused by overheating may be processed and correlated with a certain temperature. Finding those differences in supply waveforms and classifying them may be done with either analytic methods or heuristic algorithms. © 2018

This paper investigates the high-speed train rescheduling (HSTR) problem under a partial station blockage and proposes an efficient problem-specific strengthen elitist genetic algorithm (PS-SEGA) for HSTR. An HSTR model that is subject to train operation constraints is established to minimize the total train delay. The PS-SEGA framework consists of the following main steps. Firstly, a permutation-based encoding method is developed to define an efficient search space based on a train departure sequence. A decoding method is employed to output the rescheduled timetable and objective value based on the departure sequence. Moreover, a hybrid initialization method involving an efficient heuristic strategy (EHS) is put forward to accelerate the convergence speed of Evolutionary algorithms (EAs). Using problem-specific knowledge, EHS generates an efficient and feasible solution for the initial population. Finally, a restart strategy is presented to maintain genetic diversity. Compared with other advanced EAs and their improved variants also using the PS-SEGA framework, experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed PS-SEGA for addressing HSTR scenarios under the partial station blockage. As for the scenarios that CPLEX can not obtain optimal solutions within 10 minutes, PS-SEGA can all provide quasi-optimal solutions in real-time. Furthermore, compared with the other two strategies (i.e., First-Scheduled-First-Served and EHS), PS-SEGA can find the best departure sequence that can output the timetable with a quasi-optimal solution. © 2023, The Authors. This paper develops a class of iterative learning control (ILC) laws for a subclass of uncertain spatially interconnected systems. Model uncertainties appear both in the state and the output equation of the dynamics modeled in the 2D systems setting to which existing results are not applicable. The first stage is to write the dynamics in 2D model form. Then the stability theory for a distinct class of 2D systems known as repetitive processes is used to develop the ILC law in the case of differential dynamics. This analysis results in a design algorithm that can be applied using linear matrix inequalities.

Teeth segmentation and recognition are critical in various dental applications and dental diagnosis. Automatic and accurate segmentation approaches have been made possible by integrating deep learning models. Although teeth segmentation has been studied in the past, only some techniques were able to effectively classify and segment teeth simultaneously. This article offers a pipeline of two deep learning models, U-Net and YOLOv8, which results in BB-UNet, a new architecture for the classification and segmentation of teeth on panoramic X-rays that is efficient and reliable. We have improved the quality and reliability of teeth segmentation by utilising the YOLOv8 and U-Net capabilities. The proposed networks have been evaluated using the mean average precision (mAP) and dice coefficient for YOLOv8 and BB-UNet, respectively. We have achieved a 3% increase in mAP score for teeth classification compared to existing methods, and a 10-15% increase in dice coefficient for teeth segmentation compared to U-Net across different categories of teeth. A new Dental dataset was created based on UFBA-UESC dataset with Bounding-Box and Polygon annotations of 425 dental panoramic X-rays. The findings of this research pave the way for a wider adoption of object detection models in the field of dental diagnosis. © 2024, CC BY.

Modern data centers’ providers are gradually moving away from traditional and multi-vendor IT infrastructures to open, standardized and interchangeable solutions that are based on a software defined approach to managing data center resources. The authors analyze the architectural features, requirements, limitations, hardware and software of hyperconverged infrastructures and their advantages in comparison with traditional and converged architectures deployed in data centers. Design of the topology and layout for an analog finite impulse response (FIR) filter realized in the CMOS technology using the switched capacitor (SC) technique, is presented. The filter is based on the so called “rotator structure” supplemented with the programmable capacitor array. This array makes the on-line adjusting of the frequency response of the filter possible in a very wide range, thus, enlarges the area of applications of this circuit, e.g., to multi-standard wireless communication, software-defined radio, adaptive systems, etc. The presented circuit realizes filters of orders up to 15 (16 filter coefficients). The maximum frequency range approaches ca. 2 MHz. The circuit dissipates ca. 8 mW from the power supply.

This paper presents a new way of multi-sensor performance evaluation and management in integrated navigation based on observability analysis. First, the general observability theory of linear systems was reviewed, and consequently a definition of local observability and local observability matrix were further introduced. Second, a scalar form of the degree of observability was present from the point of view of estimation quality. Third, the application of the degree of observability to integrated navigation systems was illustrated. As expected, the simulation results showed that the degree of observability can help us to gain the information about how observable a state-variable is, and can further function as an indicator to evaluate the performance of each navigation sensor and autonomously manage sensors in integrated navigation systems. © 2019 IEEE.

Object control requires the calculation of a regulator. One of the most effective methods for calculating the regulator is the method of numerical optimization of the regulator. This paper discusses the solution of the problem of controlling a linear object of the sixth order, the parameters of which are such that this high order significantly and negatively affects the possibilities of successfully managing this object. Using the traditional approach to the design problem of the controller (regulator) allows us to formally solve the problem;however, the result of this solution is not satisfactory. The use of additional derivation does not give any noticeable improvement. A solution to this problem is proposed by using pseudo-local feedback, moreover, this connection is supposedly most effective if it covers one of two identical links in the object model. This allows for a smoother attenuation of the frequency response of the object in the region where the action of these two links begins to affect. For pseudo-local communication, an additional PID controller is used, the coefficients of which are also determined by the method of numerical optimization. The optimization result allows us to conclude that the presence of an integral element in this controller is optional. The calculation result of such a composite controller meets the most stringent requirements for the quality of control, since in such a system the speed is increased at least twice, the oscillations, which were about 10% in amplitude, are completely eliminated, the robustness of the system is ensured, which is verified by changing all the controller coefficients by 5% up and down, and also by changing the time constant of the element of the pseudolocal loop by 10% up and down, changes in the transition process of the system in this case remain are acceptable. © 2019 IEEE.
