In this paper we study an ODE model on the microRNA-mRNA dynamics. We prove the existence of two equilibrium points (one with strictly positive compo-nents) and obtain a biologically consistent, sufficient asymptotic stability condition for the strictly positive equilibrium. © 2022, Politechnica University of Bucharest. In the modern digital world, the use of animated applications has increased significantly and such applications have quietly become an integral part of life. Capturing human motions is a fundamental aspect of these applications which is performed by motion-capturing (MoCap) systems. Due to the heterogeneity of MoCap systems and marker configurations, the captured skeletons may vary in their structure, number of joints, and bone lengths. The need for motion retargeting arises to transfer motion captured from one articulated actor to another. Although motion retargeting is a long-standing issue, current methods cannot automatically execute retargeting between skeletons. This paper presents the retraining of a popular motion retargeting network with a new large-scale motion dataset. The retraining aims to demonstrate the capabilities of the motion retargeting network to handle the problem of motion retargeting between skeletons that may have different structures. The paper first, presents the motion retargeting network that employs an encoder-decoder architecture. Afterward, we re-train the motion retargeting network with a new MoCap dataset. To validate the effectiveness of the network, we visually compare the generated results with the existing retargeting model. The results show that the motion retargeting network effectively retargets the different motions. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. In recent years, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) have become widely used in civil and military applications such as surveillance, data collection, and cargo delivery. With the increasing use of this technology, there is a need for improved communication systems to ensure reliable and efficient data transmission. UAV networks face unique challenges due to dynamic motion, environmental interference, and energy and bandwidth limitations. The objective of this study is to propose an adaptive coding scheme using Rate-Compatible Punctured Coding (RCPC) technology, which assigns different coding rates to different data depending on their importance and channel conditions. The proposed scheme includes a mechanism to dynamically adjust the coding rates based on the change in link quality. This study demonstrates that adaptive coding can improve resource efficiency, reduce latency, and enhance communication reliability. © 2025 IEEE.

Comprehensive multimodal approach for Parkinson’s disease classification using artificial intelligence: insights and model explainability

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a debilitating neurodegenerative disorder affecting millions worldwide. Early detection is vital for effective management, yet remains challenging. In this study, we investigated four distinct datasets for PD detection. Through comprehensive experimentation employing ensemble methods and feature selection, we achieved high classification accuracies across the datasets. For the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Detection Dataset, an accuracy of 95.67%, precision of 97.59%, recall of 84.5%, specificity of 99.32%, and F1-score of 90.57% were achieved. For the Alzheimer Parkinson Diseases 3 Class Dataset, the "Stacking" approach surpasses individual models, reaching an accuracy of 99.85%, precision of 99.81%, recall of 99.81%, specificity of 99.86%, and F1 of 99.81%. For the NewHandPD dataset, Regarding the Spiral category, The "Base-P32-384" model surpasses others with an accuracy of 97.35%, precision of 96.50%, recall of 98.57%, and F1-score of 97.53%. The collective "Stacking" approach proves highly effective regarding the Circle category, achieving 100% across all performance metrics. Regarding the Meander category, the "Base-P16-224" model achieves an accuracy of 97.35%, precision of 99.26%, recall of 95.71%, specificity of 99.19%, and F1 of 97.45%. The Mobile Device Voice Recordings at King’s College London (MDVR-KCL) dataset contains two datasets. Regarding the "SpontaneousDialogue" dataset, accuracy, BAC, precision, recall, specificity, and F1-score were computed, resulting in values of 94.03%, 92.83%, 90.78%, 100.0%, and 85.67%, respectively. Regarding the "ReadText" dataset, accuracy, BAC, precision, recall, specificity, and F1-score were computed, resulting in values of 91.89%, 90.62%, 87.5%, 100.0%, and 81.25%, respectively. In the context of Intelligent Transportation systems (ITS), the role of vehicle detection and classification is indispensable for streamlining transportation management, refining traffic control, and conducting in-depth accident analyses. However, the intricate task of accurately detecting multi-oriented vehicles in diverse scenarios remains a challenge, even with the advancements in ITS. Factors such as vehicle morphology, design, road conditions, structural details, and climatic variables provide a significant part in the detection. To address this, our study introduces an advanced YOLOv8n model, specifically the YOLOv8n-CGW, which is built upon pre-trained deep learning frameworks. This model is meticulously tailored to enhance the detection capabilities for multi-oriented vehicles. Comprehensive evaluations on esteemed datasets like MtV, MERGED, Custom dataset, DAWN, WEDGE, and UA-DETRAC underscore the superiority of our approach over existing models. Notably, our YOLOv8n-CGW model achieves a remarkable mAP of 83.3% and boasts a swift inference time of 0.0019s, setting a new benchmark in the domain. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Estimation of importance for considered features is an important issue for any knowledge exploration process and it can be executed by a variety of approaches. In the research reported in this study, the primary aim was the development of a methodology for creating attribute rankings. Based on the properties of the greedy algorithm for inducing decision rules, a new application of this algorithm has been proposed. Instead of constructing a single ordering of features, attributes were weighted multiple times. The input datasets were discretised with several algorithms representing supervised and unsupervised discretisation approaches. Each resulting discrete data variant was exploited to construct a ranking of attributes. The effectiveness of the obtained rankings was confirmed through a rule filtering process governed by weighted attributes. The methodology was applied to the stylometric task of authorship attribution. The experimental outcomes demonstrate the value of the proposed research method, as it generally led to improved predictions while taking into account a noticeably decreased sets of attributes and decision rules. © 2024 The Authors.
