The Ministry of Health of Indonesia has referred to pre-eclampsia as one of the most severe diseases affecting women. As an urgency, it is crucial to administrate pre-eclampsia cases for disease prevention as a long-term national healthcare strategy. Regarding health science, case data was significant in developing research and innovation. However, the main problem regarding pre-eclampsia case administration is data handling, recording, and management incompetence. Hence, this research proposed a conceptual design of a database for pre-eclampsia case administration. The proposed design covered conceptual, logical, and physical design. We elaborate the concept into three concepts of pre-eclampsia disease: pre-treatment, treatment, and post-treatment. This study proposed a solution to gain more data and study pre-eclampsia disease in Indonesia.

In this paper, we propose a novel approach to locate and detect moving pedestrians in a video. Our proposed method first locates the region of interest (ROI) using a background subtraction algorithm based on guided filtering. This novel background subtraction algorithm allows our method to also filter unexpected noises at the same time, which could benefit the performance of our proposed method. Subsequently, the pedestrians are detected using YOLOv3 within the provided ROI. Our experiments showed that the proposed method has a competitive performance in the CDNET2014 dataset with a fast-processing time. © 2021 IEEE.

Multivariate time series (MTS) data, when sampled irregularly and asynchronously, often present extensive missing values. Conventional methodologies for MTS analysis tend to rely on temporal embeddings based on timestamps that necessitate subsequent imputations, yet these imputed values frequently deviate substantially from their actual counterparts, thereby compromising prediction accuracy. Furthermore, these methods typically fail to provide robust initial embeddings for values infrequently observed or even absent within the training set, posing significant challenges to model generalizability. In response to these challenges, we propose SCAlable Numerical Embedding (SCANE), a novel framework that treats each feature value as an independent token, effectively bypassing the need for imputation. SCANE regularizes the traits of distinct feature embeddings and enhances representational learning through a scalable embedding mechanism. Coupling SCANE with the Transformer Encoder architecture, we develop the Scalable nUMerical eMbeddIng Transformer (SUMMIT), which is engineered to deliver precise predictive outputs for MTS characterized by prevalent missing entries. Our experimental validation, conducted across three disparate electronic health record (EHR) datasets marked by elevated missing value frequencies, confirms the superior performance of SUMMIT over contemporary state-of-the-art approaches addressing similar challenges. These results substantiate the efficacy of SCANE and SUMMIT, underscoring their potential applicability across a broad spectrum of MTS data analytical tasks. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Childhood stunting is a condition anticipated to affect the growth potential of children under the age of five. With numerous stunting researches that have been conducted, stunting datasets are now widely available to facilitate stunting research. This provides an opportunity to implement machine learning (ML) principles to produce a broader insight or a novel technique in stunting prediction. A systematic literature review is necessary to discover the landscape of machine learning implementation in the application domain as a preliminary study for creating an effective research roadmap. This paper presents a systematic literature review (SLR) of 22 curated manuscripts that focuses on identifying the ML models applied in stunting research, as well as the datasets used in such studies that were published during 2017–2022. The SLR process found that ML principles have been applied in stunting research since 2017, and the diversity of ML implementation has become more varied in 2021–2022. In terms of ML models, XGBoost and Random Forest are recognized as the two most utilized models, and stunting prediction is the most common ML implementation. The majority of stunting research utilizing ML has been conducted in Indonesia. Although national survey data has been the most commonly utilized dataset in stunting research, researchers in Indonesia have shown a preference for utilizing data from regional or independent surveys. This study will be followed by developing a classifier model for stunted children using XGBoost and Random Forest algorithms. The model will be trained on a dataset generated from StuntingDB.

As soon as the lockdown was established in Jakarta, Indonesia, people experienced a change in Jakarta's air quality. This research was conducted to answer several challenges such as: where to find Indonesia's air quality open data platforms, how to handle the acquired data with SQL technology, and how to validate whether the air quality of Jakarta was significantly changed from a period to another or not. With particulate matter 2.5 (PM 2.5) data acquired by The United States Diplomatic Post in South Jakarta, a data visualization was generated to describe the fluctuation of PM 2.5 from February 29th to June 29th. By conducting a two-sample t-test, a significant change in South Jakarta's air quality was revealed. The test concluded that South Jakarta's air quality got worse even after a lockdown was established. © 2021 IEEE.

Lung cancer remains a significant global public health concern, being the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Despite recent medical advancements, the disease still has a high mortality rate, making early detection and treatment critical for improving patient outcomes. Accurate prediction of nodule growth is key to early lung cancer treatment, but current assessments offer unclear indications of future growth, leading physicians to recommend costly and anxiety-provoking follow-up appointments every 3 to 12 months. To address this need, this study develops an ensemble deep learning approach that combines demographic data with existing CT images to predict whether lung nodules will grow, potentially reducing unnecessary examinations and easing the burden on patients. Our study, conducted on 862 patients with 1004 nodules, produced promising preliminary results with Accuracy, Sensitivity, Precision, F1 Score, and AUC of 0.66, 0.66, 0.67, 0.66, and 0.71, respectively. The proposed method provides a promising support system to empower patients to make informed decisions about seeking medical attention and helps physicians facilitate early treatment regimens, leading to improved patient outcomes and potentially saving lives. © 2023 ACM.

Lockdowns, despite their conflicting restrictions and consequences they might offer when enforced as a national strategy, are deemed to be suggestive for a prompt conquer to the Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) outbreak. There have been some success stories such as in China, South Korea and our ASEAN member fellow, Vietnam, which exhibited extremely fallen numbers of COVID-19 cases post the enforcement of lockdown. Indonesia, however, remains in the crux of dispute whether or not the lockdown is opted to force COVID-19 transmission down under control. We, in this respect, employ the most popular model which has been broadly applied in the field of epidemiology, referred to as SEIRD (Susceptible, Exposed, Infectious, Recovered, and Death), the extension form of an age-structured SEIR, where the Death (D) is included to provide more factual situation. We modify the I (Infectious) fraction as symp-tomatic (Is) and asymptomatic (Ia) infectives. There are three lockdown scenarios simulated in our modified SEIRD with the starting date are 26 April 2020 when the immediate lockdown was enacted-and a-week and two-week-gaps, respectively. We figured out that by stipulating the lockdown without delay (26 April 2020), the new cases could be kept below 10,000. A week delay escalates case number to 5,000 and delay for one more week results in beyond 20,000 new cases. Furthermore, when the intervention is delayed following the delayed lockdown, normalization would demand a longer period within which dealing with more critical and dying patients is unavoidable and should be more anticipated. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The learning and recognition of object features from unregulated input has been a longstanding challenge for artificial intelligence systems. Brains are adept at learning stable representations given small samples of noisy observations;across sensory modalities, this capacity is aided by a cascade of signal conditioning steps informed by domain knowledge. The olfactory system, in particular, solves a source separation and denoising problem compounded by concentration variability, environmental interference, and unpredictably correlated sensor affinities. To function optimally, its plastic network requires statistically well-behaved input. We present a data-blind neuromorphic signal conditioning strategy whereby analog data are normalized and quantized into spike phase representations. Input is delivered to a column of duplicated spiking principal neurons via heterogeneous synaptic weights;this regularizes layer utilization, yoking total activity to the network’s operating range and rendering internal representations robust to uncontrolled open-set stimulus variance. We extend this mechanism by adding a data-aware calibration step whereby the range and density of the quantization weights adapt to accumulated input statistics, optimizing resource utilization by balancing activity regularization and information retention. In this paper, we consider contextual stochastic optimization using Nadaraya-Watson kernel regression, which is one of the most common approaches in nonparametric regression. Recent studies have explored the asymptotic convergence behavior of using Nadaraya-Watson kernel regression in contextual stochastic optimization;however, the performance guarantee under finite samples remains an open question. This paper derives a finite-sample generalization bound of the Nadaraya-Watson estimator with a spherical kernel under a generic loss function. Based on the generalization bound, we further establish a suboptimality bound for the solution of the Nadaraya-Watson approximation problem relative to the optimal solution. Finally, we derive the optimal kernel bandwidth and provide a sample complexity analysis of the Nadaraya-Watson approximation problem. © 2024, CC BY.

Segmentation of prostate cancer on ultrasound (US) images is challenging because of the low-intensity contrast around the region of interest (ROI) contour caused by the intestinal gas. To the best of our knowledge, our work is one of the extremely rare groups to segment prostate cancer on US images, which designs a coarse-to-refinement segmentation framework with four merits: 1) it fuses the advantages of the deep learning- and principal curve-based algorithms to locate the ROI and fit the data center automatically, respectively;2) a principal curve-based polygon searching method is designed by newly adding some constraints so that the performance of our method could be enhanced;3) the quantum characteristics are added into evolution network, while newly adding numerous- operator scheme and global optimum search schemes;4) an interpretable mathematical mapping model is developed to denote the ROI contour. Segmentation results show that our network outperforms other medical image segmentation models. © 2023 IEEE.
