This study introduces a novel approach by combining burning number analysis and supervised machine learning, specifically linear regression, to optimize sensor placement in large agricultural fields modeled as a 3-ary n-cube network. In this unique integration, each node represents a location equipped with environmental sensors, and edges signify wireless communication links. The burning number analysis identifies critical sensor nodes, strategically activating them for efficient information propagation throughout the network. Simultaneously, linear regression is employed to predict and optimize the activation of key sensors, maximizing coverage and data dissemination. This approach aims to enhance network efficiency, providing valuable insights for precision agriculture practices such as crop management, irrigation scheduling, and resource allocation. Through this innovative method, the study not only contributes to the development of adaptive solutions for sustainable farming but also showcases the potential of combining graph theory-based burning number analysis with linear regression for optimizing sensor networks in complex agricultural landscapes. © 2024 IEEE.

Precision medicine is based on curing diseases based on a patient's genetic profile, lifestyle, and environmental factors. This method improves clinical trial success rates and speed up drug regulatory approval. Predicting tumour vulnerability to specific anti-cancer therapy is critical for the successful implementation of precision medicine. Drug combinations have been shown to be very effective in cancer treatment to lower the drug resistance and improve the therapeutic effectiveness. The experiments carried out in all these therapeutic combinations have become expensive and time-consuming as a result of the increasing number of anti-cancer drugs. Large-scale drug response testing on cancer cell lines might help to understand the way drugs react with cancer cells. This study proposes a multi head graph attention network to perform drug response prediction. © 2023 IEEE.

As artificial intelligence (AI) systems become more complex and widespread, they require significant computational power, increasing energy consumption. Addressing this challenge is essential for ensuring the long-term sustainability of AI technology. AI-on-AI control refers to a system with a set of AI functions controlled by an upper-level AI model. Previous work in AI-on-AI control focuses on boosting accuracy or expanding system capability by increasing overall system cost. Alternatively, we focus on applying AI-on-AI control to decrease system cost and increase the sustainability and viability of a system with multiple AI functions. Our supervised image classification evaluative controller (SICEC) is a cost-reduction oriented AI-on-AI controller that learns when vision models within an AI system should be activated based on input features. The function controller (FC) preprocesses an input and activates relevant functions, functions being distinct units of AI functionality within the system. Some functions have a set of same functional models (SFMs). These models take the same input and produce the same output but have architectural differences. We introduce a same functional controller to select a SFM using the FC's decision confidence. Results are promising, with a decrease of up to 48.9% in inference time, 67.8% in floating point operations (FLOPs), and 66.4% in energy usage. With SICEC showing significant reductions in inference time and energy cost, our work contributes to limited resource computing and sustainable AI technology. © 2020 IEEE.

In today's 5G era, the amount of data generated by the Internet of Things (IoT) devices is enormous. Data is processed and stored in the cloud under a traditional cloud computing architecture, and real-time processing and retrieval of these data is time-consuming. Therefore, an edge-cloud framework comes in handy where the content generated is placed on the edge nodes of the network, and it can reach the endusers in a time-bound manner. A majority of the previous research works on content placement under the edge-cloud architecture primarily aimed at improving the latency of the system. However, the approach proposed in this paper aims to maximize the profit of the service provider by effectively placing the content in a hierarchically organized edge-cloud network. We propose two strategies and compare them with random and greedy approaches for both synthetic and real data sets. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategies, and the profit of the service providers increases by 38.81% (maximum) and 10.51% (on average) for the synthetic dataset and by 65.74% (maximum) and 22.83% (on average) for the real-world dataset when compared with the greedy approach. © 2024 IEEE.

In the rapidly advancing realm of healthcare, ensuring the well-being of critical care patients stands as a paramount mission. Various cutting-edge sensors are available in the market, proficient in monitoring vital health. A substantial number of healthcare facilities still rely on manual processes, a practice that is not only repetitive and labor-intensive but also fraught with the potential for human errors. This pressing need for immediate, accurate responses in the context of critical care has driven the development of a comprehensive solution. Our proposed system brings together security, data normalization, and efficient data exchange, underpinned by a unified approach. Security, a cornerstone of healthcare, finds its realization in the implementation of JSON Web Tokens (JWT). This technology ensures the privacy and integrity of communication between healthcare entities. Crucial patient data, including personal particulars, lifeline parameters, and historical records, is securely housed in a scalable and non-redundant Postgres SQL database. In emergencies, time is of the essence. To expedite responses, an innovative tagged QR code technique is introduced. The unified approach doesn't simply prioritize security;it underscores the significance of data standardization and efficient data exchange. A robust security framework has been meticulously designed to protect sensitive patient information, minimize the risk of data breaches, and prevent unauthorized access. Furthermore, data normalization ensures that patient data is consistently structured and formatted, facilitating compatibility with diverse healthcare platforms and devices. The normalization additionally enhances interoperability, enabling seamless information exchange between different systems and healthcare providers. Learning in sinusoidal spaces with physics-informed neural networks

A physics-informed neural network (PINN) uses physics-Augmented loss functions, e.g., incorporating the residual term from governing partial differential equations (PDEs), to ensure its output is consistent with fundamental physics laws. However, it turns out to be difficult to train an accurate PINN model for many problems in practice. In this article, we present a novel perspective of the merits of learning in sinusoidal spaces with PINNs. By analyzing behavior at model initialization, we first show that a PINN of increasing expressiveness induces an initial bias around flat output functions. Notably, this initial solution can be very close to satisfying many physics PDEs, i.e., falling into a localminimum of the PINN loss that onlyminimizes PDE residuals, while still being far from the true solution that jointly minimizes PDE residuals and the initial and/or boundary conditions. It is difficult for gradient descent optimization to escape from such a local minimum trap, often causing the training to stall. We then prove that the sinusoidalmapping of inputs-in an architecture we label as sf-PINN-is effective to increase input gradient variability, thus avoiding being trapped in such deceptive local minimum. The level of variability can be effectively modulated to match high-frequency patterns in the problem at hand. A key facet of this article is the comprehensive empirical study that demonstrates the efficacy of learning in sinusoidal spaces with PINNs for a wide range of forward and inversemodeling problems spanning multiple physics domains. Networking paradigm known as "Software-Defined Networking" (SDN) offers more flexibility with network management and is fast gaining popularity. Separating the control plane from the data plane is largely responsible for this success. In SDN-enabled networks, a centralized controller is used to translate high-level network application requirements into low-level directives that are issued to the forwarding devices. Such the controller requires limited ability to react to the request for flow processing generated by forwarding devices. Whenever an SDN-enabled network expands in terms of size or as a network traffic rises, flow processing demands can’t be able to fulfill by a single centralized controller. This causes a controller's performance to decline, which eventually results in a malfunctioning SDN-enabled network. Implementing a multi-controller architecture, in which a number of controllers cooperate to manage a sizable amount of network traffic and flow processing requirements, would be a successful strategy. The introduction of a multi-controller architecture and a consideration of the problems with its scalability, coherence as well as accessibility make up the core contribution of this study. Additionally, it identifies areas where study in this area could still be done. © 2025 IEEE.

Nuclei Segmentation in Histopathology Images Using Structure-Preserving Color Normalization Based Ensemble Deep Learning Frameworks

This paper presents a novel computerized technique for the segmentation of nuclei in hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)stained histopathology *** purpose of this study is to overcome the challenges faced in automated nuclei segmentation due to the diversity of nuclei structures that arise from differences in tissue types and staining protocols,as well as the segmentation of variable-sized and overlapping *** this extent,the approach proposed in this study uses an ensemble of the UNet architecture with various Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)architectures as encoder backbones,along with stain normalization and test time augmentation,to improve segmentation ***,this paper employs a Structure-Preserving Color Normalization(SPCN)technique as a preprocessing step for stain *** proposed model was trained and tested on both single-organ and multi-organ datasets,yielding an F1 score of 84.11%,mean Intersection over Union(IoU)of 81.67%,dice score of 84.11%,accuracy of 92.58%and precision of 83.78%on the multi-organ dataset,and an F1 score of 87.04%,mean IoU of 86.66%,dice score of 87.04%,accuracy of 96.69%and precision of 87.57%on the single-organ *** findings demonstrate that the proposed model ensemble coupled with the right pre-processing and post-processing techniques enhances nuclei segmentation capabilities.
