Optimizing solar radiation prediction: a novel SVM approach for renewable energy systems

The global transition toward renewable energy sources, driven by fossil fuel depletion and environmental imperatives, has positioned solar power as a crucial sustainable alternative. This study presents an advanced methodological framework for solar radiation (SR) prediction utilizing Support Vector Machine (SVM) techniques. The research analyzes comprehensive solar radiation data collected from India’s Vellore district throughout 2023, implementing a novel Support Vector Regression (SVR) approach with both polynomial and radial basis function (RBF) kernels. While conventional methodologies predominantly focus on minimizing training errors, our approach emphasizes reducing the generalization error bound to enhance predictive performance. The proposed model incorporates diverse meteorological parameters for SR prediction, demonstrating superior generalization capabilities compared to traditional approaches. Empirical results indicate that the SVR_rbf model significantly outperformed both SVR_poly and artificial neural network (ANN) models in SR prediction accuracy. The model's efficacy is validated through rigorous performance metrics: RMSE (10.3032), MAE (4.2728), MAPE (0.0152), and R² (0.9795). This research advances the understanding of machine learning applications in renewable energy forecasting, particularly for regions with limited meteorological data availability. Research findings enhance solar energy utilization and contribute to the transition towards sustainable energy. Future research directions may explore the integration of additional environmental parameters and the model’s adaptability across diverse geographical contexts. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management 2025.

American Sign Language (ASL) recognition aims to recognize hand gestures, and it is a crucial solution to communicating between the deaf community and hearing people. However, existing sign language recognition algorithms still have some drawbacks, such as difficulty recognizing hand movements and low recognition accuracy for most sign language recognition. A Modified Convolutional Neural Network (MCNN) deep residual 101 classifier-based American Sign Language identification system has been developed to address this problem. There are three main parts presents in the method. The first part is pre-processing the images to remove the noise, enhance the contrast of the picture, adjust the contrast level and smoothen the picture using various filters. The second part is the segmentation, and it’s used to partition the image using a modified canny edge detection method by removing all weak edges present in the image. Finally, classification will be done using the Modified CNN deep residual 101 classifiers. By classifying the image, the American Sign Language is accurately identified. This process is conducted through images. The outcome shows that the suggested approach has a 0.97% accuracy and a 0.05% False Positive Rate. Other CNN architectures such as resNet 50 and resNet 18 reached 0.90% and 0.80% accuracy, respectively, which is lower than our proposed method. In addition, the resNet 101 classifier effectively recognizes the difficult hand gestures through the image data. It obtains high recognition accuracy for 36 signs is 0 to 9 numbers and a to z alphabets from American Sign Language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

The automated recognition and identification of license plates is an essential element of intelligent transportation systems that enable effective traffic management, security measures, and the development of efficient e-payment algorithms in toll booths and parking facilities. Even though license plate recognition (LPR) technology is fairly advanced, significant efforts are being made to enhance its accuracy and resilience The growing adoption of deep learning technologies across multiple industry domains, particularly computer vision, presents a novel idea implemented in this paper. To develop an approach to improve detection accuracy using YOLOv9 and transfer learning. Through combining the power of YOLOv9 with transfer learning, it is feasible to tackle the traditional LPR system's inherent flaws. Character recognition, picture pre-processing, license plate extraction, and character segmentation are the four main parts of the proposed system. Each step involves unique methodologies, primarily focusing on character recognition methodologies using YOLOv9 which has not been adequately tackled in existing research. By thorough testing and analysis, this study seeks to further the current developments in LPR systems, ensuring discernibly better-established intelligent transportation solutions. We have achieved a mAP50 Score of 99.5% and a mAP50-95 score of 71 % © 2024 IEEE.

The automatic detection of sign language from hand gesture images is fundamental for effective human-computer interaction, especially for individuals with hearing and speech disorders. Achieving accurate detection and classification of sign language gestures is paramount. However, accurately recognizing these gestures frequently presents challenges due to dull backgrounds, variations in gesture orientation, and fluctuations in lighting conditions. Previous approaches tried to overcome these challenges but still the model performance lacks recognition accuracy and visual quality. To address this need for accuracy, we proposed a Weighted Average Ensembled Probability Pipeline composed of EfficientNetB7, ResNet-50, and Xception models. Leveraging the Extensive Hand Gesture Recognition Database (HGRD), comprising 20,000 images, our individual models achieved notable accuracies: 96.498 % for EfficientNetB7, 93.2 % for ResNet-50, and 90.175 % for Xception. Through ensemble learning, we integrate these models to attain an impressive overall accuracy of 98.95 %. This research contributes to robust gesture recognition system and underscores the significance of ensemble techniques in enhancing performance for Gesture recognition systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Several of the environmental characteristics we hold dear, including our fundamental ecology, regional climatic variances, and global variety, are threatened caused by widespread industry and increasing urbanization. Problems arise in our everyday lives as a consequence of the challenges we face due of the rapid pace at which things are changing. These problems have their origins in the rapid pace of digitalization and the lack of enough infrastructure for handling and analyzing extremely large data sets. When data generated by the IoT detection layer is inaccurate, partial, or irrelevant, it affects weather forecast reports, which in turn disrupts activities that rely on precise and reliable weather predictions. Some of the main problems in the modern world is getting accurate readings of the surroundings in real time, as doing so presents a number of obstacles. The proposed technology could avoid such events from occurring by constantly monitoring the weather. The suggested solution is built on the cutting edge of embedded system technology and the IoT. Electronic components, sensor nodes, and wireless infrastructure are also part of the system. The primary function of the sensors in this framework is to monitor environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and gas concentrations. Data collected in this way can be transmitted to external systems, such as databases. Random Forest, Logistic Regression, AdaBoost, and Naive Bayes were all used to compare their respective identification of anomalies scores. These algorithms were applied to the time-based, temperature-based, pressure-based, and humidity-based data produced by the sensors. © 2023 IEEE.

The rapid advancement of technology has undoubtedly brought comfort to humanity, but it also necessitates robust authentication measures to ensure security in the ever-expanding e-world. This research aims to address the critical aspects of security, focusing on end-user authentication. The proposed solution incorporates multiple factors, including location-based authentication, text-based authentication with enhanced encryption standards, and facial recognition authentication. Location-based authentication serves to restrict access geographically, mitigating the risk of impersonation by enforcing strict geographic limits on facility access. Strong text passwords, utilizing a unique algorithm with a classic salt method, add an extra layer of complexity for potential attackers, making it challenging to compromise user credentials. The incorporation of facial recognition technology acts as a deterrent against non-human entities attempting unauthorized access. Leveraging deep learning and API servers ensures precision and scalability in the model, enhancing its effectiveness in real-world scenarios. These multi-factor authentication techniques collectively contribute to a secure, reliable, and forward-looking solution to address the evolving landscape of digital security threats. In adhering to the age-old adage "prevention is better than cure,"the research emphasizes the importance of proactive measures to safeguard against potential security breaches. © 2024 IEEE.

AOBL-IPACO: A novel and optimized algorithm to mitigate losses in electrical grid systems

This paper shows the framework for solving the economic optimization problem in electrical grid system using advanced Oppositional Based Learning (AOBL) technique with Invasive Plant Ant Colony Optimization (IPACO) algorithm. The work focuses on application of newly developed algorithm called Advance Oppositional Invasive Plant Ant Colony Optimization (AOIPACO) to solve the various constraints of single objective problem. The artificial algorithm leads to direction of exploration for new space of ant colonies with process of threats elimination from native candidates in energy management. During simulation process, the proposed algorithm reduces the power loss along with improvement of cost factor and computational time. The proposed AOIPACO approach is implemented on standard IEEE-5, 13 and 40 bus systems and generates optimal results as compared to other conventional techniques while solving the complex problem of optimization. Further, this meta heuristic technique help to improve the quality of power market system with minimum computation error at fast convergence rate. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

OblivTime: Oblivious and Efficient Interval Skyline Query Processing Over Encrypted Time-Series Data

Time-series data is prevalent in many applications like smart homes, smart grids, and healthcare. And it is now increasingly common to store and query time-series data in the cloud. Despite the benefits, data privacy concerns in such outsourced services are pressing, making it imperative to embed privacy assurance mechanisms from the outset. Most existing related works have been focused on querying for different types of aggregate statistics. In this paper, we instead focus on the secure support for advanced interval skyline queries, which allow to identify time series that are not dominated by any other time series within a query time interval. This is valuable for time-series data analytics in applications like remote health monitoring (e.g., identifying patients with high heart rates in a certain week). We present OblivTime, a new system framework for oblivious and efficient interval skyline query processing over encrypted time-series data. OblivTime is built from a synergy of time-series data analytics, lightweight cryptography, and GPU parallel computing, achieving stronger security guarantees and lower online query latency over the state-of-the-art prior work. Extensive experiments demonstrate that OblivTime can achieve up to 666\times speedup in online query latency over the state-of-the-art prior work. © 2008-2012 IEEE.
