Resilient annular finite-time synchronization for master-slave systems under scaling attacks

This paper investigates the resilient annular finite-time synchronization and boundedness problems for master-slave systems under dynamic event-triggered scheme (ETS), actuator faults, and scaling attacks. A comprehensive model for characterizing scaling attacks is presented. The switched dynamic ETS is developed to reduce the bandwidth pressure. Two different internal variables are designed, each of which changes based on the switching manifold. Simultaneously, the resilient problem of switched master-slave systems with respect to stochastic scaling attacks is considered, where there are limited malicious signals introduced by the adversary. Based on the Lyapunov-like function involving the different internal dynamic variables, a set of criteria is established in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which guarantee the annular finite-time boundedness. Finally, two examples are presented to verify the theoretical findings. © 2023 The Authors. Hall-thruster swirl torque is small enough that it is difficult to measure in ground-based facilities, but large enough that its effects on interplanetary spacecraft can be significant and must be actively managed. NASA’s Psyche mission has provided the first opportunity to directly measure the swirl torque produced by a Hall thruster operating at powers greater than 1.5 kW. When the electric propulsion system is operating, the spacecraft attitude control methodology forces the net torque on the spacecraft to align with a pre-determined direction in the body frame, after which the thruster-induced swirl torque can be separated from the other torques acting on the spacecraft. The swirl torques produced by three of the four thrusters on the Psyche spacecraft were determined over the full operating discharge power range of 1.0 to 4.5 kW, and the maximum value of that torque was 0.86 mN-m at full power. It is shown that the SPT-140 swirl torque results can be scaled from full power to lower powers by the product of the discharge current and the magnet current, and evaluation of cruise thrusting data as the thruster is throttled down in power suggests that swirl torque is not changing significantly with time as a function of operating condition. Finally, calculations of swirl torque using updated numerical simulations are shown to agree reasonably well with the flight data, thus providing confidence in their use for other thrusters prior to flight. © 2025, American institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. For traditional frequency-domain synthetic aperture radar (SAR) algorithms, such as nonlinear chirp scaling (NCS), spatially variant Doppler phase that can be eliminated is limited by the number of undetermined coefficients. To solve this problem, an approximation-free elimination method for first-order spatial variance is proposed in this paper. In azimuth processing, the first partial derivative with respect to Doppler spatial variance is derived. Subsequently, resampling mapping relationship for slow time is constructed, which is capable of eliminating all first-order spatial variance of Doppler parameters at once. The proposed method does not employ any zero-padding, and the elimination effect of spatial variance is not limited by the number of undetermined coefficients. When lateral maneuverability of SAR sensor is high enough, the proposed method significantly outperforms traditional NCS method. Effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation results. © 2023 IEEE.

Adaptive FRIT (A-FRIT) with exponential for-getting (EF) has been proposed for time-varying systems to improve the data dependence of FRIT, which is a direct data-driven tuning method. However, the EF -based method is not a reliable controller because it can cause significant degradation of the control performance and instability unless the persistent excitation (PE) condition is satisfied. To solve this problem, we propose a new A-FRIT method based on directional forgetting (DF) and exponential resetting that can forget old data without instability regardless of the PE condition. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method, we applied it to artificial muscle control with strong asymmetric hysteresis characteristics and evaluated its robust performance against load changes during the experiment. The experimental results show that the proposed method based on DF achieves high control performance and is robust against changes in the characteristics and/or target trajectory. The proposed method is also practical because it does not require system identification, model structure, or prior experimentation. © 2024 IEEE.

The fixed-dictionary based gridded frequency sparse representation in random demodulation systems faces the grid mismatch problem, which may lead to severe degradation of the compression algorithm to the extent that high precision signal parameters and signal reconstruction cannot be obtained. Gridless compressed sensing introduces the concept of atomic norm, which solves the grid problem caused by spectrum discretization and greatly improves the accuracy of signal frequency estimation. However, in practice, solving large-scale meshless compressed sensing problems directly can consume a lot of time and storage resources. In this paper, we borrow the idea of segmented random sampling to compress the signal by generating segmented pseudo-random sequences in a random demodulation system. Then each segment of the compressed sampled signal is reconstructed and frequency estimated by atomic norm separately, and the obtained frequency estimates of several segments are averaged to obtain the frequency estimates of the original signal. The algorithm can achieve a recovery signal-to-noise ratio of 68 dB for a signal with 256 points per segment, and the recovery accuracy is only related to the number of points within the segment, independent of the number of segments. The algorithm reduces the computational complexity and improves the solution size and the accuracy of frequency estimation. © 2023 IEEE.

Model-predictive control is emerging as an advanced control strategy for its feature that the state variables can be predicted according to the math model of the control system. In the PMSM drive application, conventional model-predictive control strategy induces current ripple due to the fact that the optimal voltage vector always acts on the system for the whole control period. In order to restrain the current ripple, the idea of duty cycle control is taken into MPC by inserting a zero vector into the optimal non-zero vector and regulating the duty cycle of non-zero vector. In this paper, the optimal duty cycle FSC-MPC strategy based on two different principles is investigated. Principle A is that the estimation is equal to the reference at the end of control cycle, and principle B is that the area under trace of the estimation is equal to that of reference. The calculation of duty based on the two different principles and the flow chart of the strategy are introduced in detail. Finally, the effectiveness of the optimal duty cycle FSC-MPC is firstly verified by the simulation, and then verified by the experimental results, which is implemented on the PMSM driver of the DQ-1 satellite payload. © 2023, Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Adaptive gradient-descent optimizers are the standard choice for training neural network models. Despite their faster convergence than gradient-descent and remarkable performance in practice, the adaptive optimizers are not as well understood as vanilla gradient-descent. A reason is that the dynamic update of the learning rate that helps in faster convergence of these methods also makes their analysis intricate. Particularly, the simple gradient-descent method converges at a linear rate for a class of optimization problems, whereas the practically faster adaptive gradient methods lack such a theoretical guarantee. The Polyak-Lojasiewicz (PL) inequality is the weakest known class, for which linear convergence of gradient-descent and its momentum variants has been proved. Therefore, in this paper, we prove that AdaGrad and Adam, two well-known adaptive gradient methods, converge linearly when the cost function is smooth and satisfies the PL inequality. Our theoretical framework follows a simple and unified approach, applicable to both batch and stochastic gradients, which can potentially be utilized in analyzing linear convergence of other variants of Adam. © 2024 The Authors.
