Calibrating the Principal Point of Vehicle-Mounted Fisheye Cameras Using Point-Oriented Representation

Estimating the principal point for vehicle-mounted fisheye cameras is essential for accurate vision tasks. However, traditional calibration methods require human intervention and specific patterns, lacking flexibility and adaptability to different camera models during camera change. In this study, we propose an automatic, flexible, end-to-end self-calibration framework that predicts the principal point from a single fisheye image. First, considering the dimensional differences between the high-dimensional image features and the two-dimensional principal point coordinates, directly regressing the parameters is unsuitable for our task. To address this, we propose a point-oriented representation map to represent the principal point locations, leveraging the distortion characteristics of the fisheye camera. This approach aligns more effectively with the dense prediction capabilities of neural networks. To enhance the accuracy of the generated principal point representation map, we introduce a Contourlet-Semantic Extract Network, which is specially designed to extract the fisheye image’s semantic and edge features. Using these features, we create an initial principal point map, refined with edge-based offsets and resampled for precision. This process captures finer edge details in autonomous driving scenarios (e.g., lane markings), enabling the network to more accurately understand the distortion distribution within the image. For training and evaluation, we have compiled a fisheye image dataset from driving scenes featuring 20 distinct principal point locations. Additionally, we introduce a circular cropping data augmentation technique that generates fisheye images with different principal points. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. The code and dataset will be released at https://***/BJTU-zjc/FCPPE-Net. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Association in-between features has been demonstrated to improve the representation ability of data. However, the original association data reconstruction method may face two issues: the dimension of reconstructed data is undoubtedly higher than that of original data, and adopted association measure method does not well balance effectiveness and efficiency. To address above two issues, this paper proposes a novel association-based representation improvement method, named as AssoRep. AssoRep first obtains the association between features via distance correlation method that has some advantages than Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Then an improved matrix is formed via stacking the association value of any two features. Next, an improved feature representation is obtained by aggregating the original feature with the enhancement matrix. Finally, the improved feature representation is mapped to a low-dimensional space via principal component analysis. The effectiveness of AssoRep is validated on 120 datasets and the fruits further prefect our previous work on the association data reconstruction.

Artistic portrait usually uses a set of sparse continuous lines to capture a person's unique appearance characteristics based on real people or photos. This paper addresses the issues of strong background noise and the loss of key details of human faces in artistic portraiture, leading to the inability to produce realistic and high quality portraits. A multi-task portrait painting model with hierarchical loss called WNet is proposed based on U2Net used in salient object detection. This model can generate highly abstract portrait painting that do not depend on the background. Compared to existing popular portrait painting generation methods, the images generated by our method have a better visual effect and retain the key details of the facial features better. The experimental results indicate that the proposed WNet is optimal in terms of PSNR, SSIM and MAE performance. Finally, The software communicating robotic arm can quickly spot-paint the fused art portraits. © 2024 IEEE.

In this research paper, an enhanced hotel quality scoring method (EHQSM), is presented as a revolutionary way to analyze hotel quality. The EHQSM combines sentiment analysis, HOLSERV Plus dimensions classification, and amenity scores to deliver a more thorough review. The study generates an overall sentiment score by doing sentiment analysis on reviews categorized into HOLSERV Plus dimensions then thoughtfully averaging it using dimensionspecific weights collected from a survey. The availability of necessary amenities is considered when calculating the amenity score. The novel feature of this approach is how the amenity score, and sentiment score are carefully combined and efficiently weighted using values from the survey. The result is an improved quality score that accurately and thoroughly describes the quality of hotel services. With the goal of facilitating informed decisions for both hotel owners and attentive tourists, this technique establishes an updated standard for the evaluation of hospitality quality. © 2023 IEEE.

Vehicle-to-vehicle communication is one of the new paradigms of networking, which should be secure, fast, and efficient. In this paper, we propose a framework that implements the pseudonym-based authentication scheme in which communication among vehicles is encrypted by using a matrix array symmetric key (MASK), digital signature algorithm (DSA), and intelligent water drop (IWD). The proposed security scheme also ensures the handling of many security attacks like key-guessing, non-repudiation, replay, and modification. In the proposed scheme, to preserve the identity of the vehicle, we have provided the different pseudonyms for each vehicle in the network that ensure secure communication among vehicles. Furthermore, the proposed delay minimisation cover tree algorithm ensures the issue of timed delay during vehicle-to-vehicle communication. In this algorithm, we have used Dijkstra’s algorithm for finding the optimal shortest path during vehicular communication. The results obtained show that the proposed scheme is effective and efficient, as it reduces the time delay by 4% for 140 vehicle nodes and 28.4% for 1000 vehicle nodes. In response to the limitations of existing unmanned surface vehicles in complex marine environments, where they often fail to meet the requirements for extended endurance, broad operational range, offshore missions, and prolonged operational durations, an autonomous Unmanned Surface Vehicle (NUSV) has been designed and developed. The NUSV is propelled by wind, solar, and wave energy sources. Concerning wind energy, a micro wind energy storage mechanism based on a spiral spring has been designed to enable power generation in low-wind conditions. A wave energy transmission device, complete with a dynamic model, has been devised for wave energy. This device converts torque generated from wave action in different directions into a unified torque, providing continuous power to drive the generator. Solar energy is harnessed using Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithms to ensure optimal operation of the solar panels. The electrical energy generated from these three natural sources is stored using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and DC-DC Boost converters. A programmable logic controller manages and allocates this stored electrical energy for the NUSV's equipment, including underwater propulsion systems, surface cameras, laser radar, GPS, and other electronic devices. This integration of wind, solar, and wave energy sources enables the NUSV to meet power demands, allowing for long-duration operations at sea, extended offshore missions, wide operational ranges, and prolonged mission durations. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
