Artistic portrait usually uses a set of sparse continuous lines to capture a person's unique appearance characteristics based on real people or photos. This paper addresses the issues of strong background noise and the loss of key details of human faces in artistic portraiture, leading to the inability to produce realistic and high quality portraits. A multi-task portrait painting model with hierarchical loss called WNet is proposed based on U 2 Net used in salient object detection. This model can generate highly abstract portrait painting that do not depend on the background. Compared to existing popular portrait painting generation methods, the images generated by our method have a better visual effect and retain the key details of the facial features better. The experimental results indicate that the proposed WNet is optimal in terms of PSNR, SSIM and MAE performance. Finally, The software communicating robotic arm can quickly spot-paint the fused art portraits.

American Sign Language (ASL) recognition aims to recognize hand gestures, and it is a crucial solution to communicating between the deaf community and hearing people. However, existing sign language recognition algorithms still have some drawbacks, such as difficulty recognizing hand movements and low recognition accuracy for most sign language recognition. A Modified Convolutional Neural Network (MCNN) deep residual 101 classifier-based American Sign Language identification system has been developed to address this problem. There are three main parts presents in the method. The first part is pre-processing the images to remove the noise, enhance the contrast of the picture, adjust the contrast level and smoothen the picture using various filters. The second part is the segmentation, and it’s used to partition the image using a modified canny edge detection method by removing all weak edges present in the image. Finally, classification will be done using the Modified CNN deep residual 101 classifiers. By classifying the image, the American Sign Language is accurately identified. This process is conducted through images. The outcome shows that the suggested approach has a 0.97% accuracy and a 0.05% False Positive Rate. Other CNN architectures such as resNet 50 and resNet 18 reached 0.90% and 0.80% accuracy, respectively, which is lower than our proposed method. In addition, the resNet 101 classifier effectively recognizes the difficult hand gestures through the image data. It obtains high recognition accuracy for 36 signs is 0 to 9 numbers and a to z alphabets from American Sign Language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Fetal weight estimation during pregnancy is critical for monitoring growth and planning delivery, yet current ultrasound-based estimations are prone to error. This study leveraged open access ultrasound images and simulated clinical data to develop a deep learning pipeline for fetal weight prediction. The dataset consisted of n=1,570 ultrasound images from 333 pregnant individuals at 18-40 weeks' gestation. Relevant maternal and fetal attributes like body mass index, gestational age, amniotic fluid index, and newborn birth weight were simulated based on population averages. A convolutional neural network (CNN) using transfer learning was applied to extract imaging features. The pre-Trained Xception model was adapted by adding a global average pooling layer and freezing layers during feature extraction. Extracted imaging features were combined with clinical metadata and input into linear regression and random forest models. Hyperparameter tuning via randomized search identified a random forest configuration minimizing error. On a 20% test set, the pipeline achieved a mean absolute error of 328.6 grams in predicting birth weight, suggesting feasibility of the approach. While clinical conclusions are limited without real-world data, this study demonstrates a pipeline leveraging open science resources to address an important maternal-fetal health problem. Tailored CNN architectures and further model optimization on population-representative data could enhance performance and clinical utility. This work highlights the potential of open datasets to enable rapid scientific progress and proposes a deep learning methodology for improved fetal weight assessment during pregnancy. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, MRI super-resolution techniques have achieved great success, especially multi-contrast methods that extract texture information from reference images to guide the super-resolution reconstruction. However, current methods primarily focus on texture similarities at the same scale, neglecting cross-scale similarities that provide comprehensive information. Moreover, the misalignment between features of different scales impedes effective aggregation of information flow. To address the limitations, we propose a novel edge-guided and cross-scale feature fusion network, namely ECFNet. Specifically, we develop a pipeline consisting of the deformable convolution and the cross-attention transformer to align features of different scales. The cross-scale fusion strategy fully integrates the texture information from different scales, significantly enhancing the super-resolution. In addition, a novel structure information collaboration module is developed to guide the super-resolution reconstruction with implicit structure priors. The structure information enables the network to focus on high-frequency components of the image, resulting in sharper details. Extensive experiments on the IXI and BraTS2020 datasets demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance compared to other multi-contrast MRI super-resolution methods, and our method is robust in terms of different super-resolution scales. The paper deals with complementary changes in scientific research and real economy (exemplified by the farming industry) taking place when using the holistic approach to the industry's digital transformation resulting in the appearance of precise agrarian technologies that require a comprehensive, system-based combination of research and production resources that are able to ensure increased productivity in the industry. We demonstrate that among these new technologies, the artificial intelligence methods have a special significance. Many few-shot learning approaches have been designed under the meta-learning framework, which learns from a variety of learning tasks and generalizes to new tasks. These meta-learning approaches achieve the expected performance in the scenario where all samples are drawn from the same distributions (i.i.d. observations). However, in real-world applications, few-shot learning paradigm often suffers from data shift, i.e., samples in different tasks, even in the same task, could be drawn from various data distributions. Most existing few-shot learning approaches are not designed with the consideration of data shift, and thus show downgraded performance when data distribution shifts. However, it is non-trivial to address the data shift problem in few-shot learning, due to the limited number of labeled samples in each task. Targeting at addressing this problem, we propose a novel metric-based meta-learning framework to extract task-specific representations and task-shared representations with the help of knowledge graph. The data shift within/between tasks can thus be combated by the combination of task-shared and task-specific representations. The proposed model is evaluated on popular benchmarks and two constructed new challenging datasets. The evaluation results demonstrate its remarkable performance.

Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have become essential in interpreting relational data across various domains, yet, they often struggle to generalize to unseen graph data that differs markedly from training instances. In this paper, we introduce a novel framework called General Retrieval-Augmented Graph Learning (RAGRAPH), which brings external graph data into the general graph foundation model to improve model generalization on unseen scenarios. On the top of our framework is a toy graph vector library that we established, which captures key attributes, such as features and task-specific label information. During inference, the RAGRAPH adeptly retrieves similar toy graphs based on key similarities in downstream tasks, integrating the retrieved data to enrich the learning context via the message-passing prompting mechanism. Our extensive experimental evaluations demonstrate that RAGRAPH significantly outperforms state-of-the-art graph learning methods in multiple tasks such as node classification, link prediction, and graph classification across both dynamic and static datasets. Furthermore, extensive testing confirms that RAGRAPH consistently maintains high performance without the need for task-specific fine-tuning, highlighting its adaptability, robustness, and broad applicability. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. Dynamic graphs (DG) represent evolving interactions between entities in various real-world scenarios. Many existing DG representation learning models employ a combination of graph convolutional networks and sequence neural networks to capture spatial-temporal dependencies. However, this hybrid approach often fails to effectively capture the spatial-temporal continuity inherent in DGs. In this paper, we propose a novel approach called the Tensor Graph Convolutional Network (TGCN) to learn DG representations within a unified convolution framework based on tensor products. Our approach is founded on two key principles: (a) representing DG information in tensor form, and (b) leveraging tensor product operations to design a graph convolutional network that simultaneously models spatial and temporal features. Experimental results on three real-world DG datasets demonstrate that our proposed model achieves state-of-the-art performance. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a facial expression translation framework, called Similarity-aware Generative Adversarial Network (SimaGAN), which is applied in fine-grained image translation for facial expression images. It encodes an image with two features, styles and content features, which represent detailed class-related information and spatial structure, respectively. Moreover, a novel representation learning method is proposed in the design of SimaGAN, which is called similarity aggregation (SA). In the proposed model, SA is used in maximizing the similarity between a set of style features and its corresponding set of label embeddings, meanwhile, in minimizing the relative similarity between the false-negative style features to learn the disentangle representation. Here, the co-occurrence discriminator is also developed in the design of SimaGAN. The benefits of utilizing the co-occurrence discriminator contain to capture the texture of the source image and to preserve the detailed texture after the translation. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms others existing methods consideration here. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Digital twins are a relatively new concept that have lately garnered interest in the industrial sector. Digital twins are virtual models that mirror actual products. In this research, we suggest using the technology of digital twins to the field of healthcare in order to enhance clinical decision support and to provide more individualized treatment for patients. When artificial intelligence (AI) is combined with digital twins, healthcare professionals are able to more effectively analyze large volumes of varied data and increase their ability to make diagnostic and therapeutic decisions. In this research, we provide a conceptual framework for leveraging digital twins and AI to solve existing limits in cancer care, notably endometrial cancer therapy. This research study mainly focuses on cancer care, and more specifically on endometrial cancer treatment. In addition, we analyze the possible challenges and opportunities that may arise throughout the process of integrating this technology in healthcare settings. Our overarching objective is to improve the standard of treatment as well as the clinical results for people who have cancer. © 2024 IEEE.
