Large language models (LLMs) are pivotal in advancing natural language processing (NLP) tasks, yet their efficacy is hampered by inaccuracies and outdated knowledge. Model editing emerges as a promising solution to address these challenges. However, existing editing methods struggle to track and incorporate changes in knowledge associated with edits, which limits the generalization ability of post-edit LLMs in processing edited knowledge. To tackle these problems, we propose a novel model editing method that leverages knowledge graphs for enhancing LLM editing, namely GLAME. Specifically, we first utilize a knowledge graph augmentation module to uncover associated knowledge that has changed due to editing, obtaining its internal representations within LLMs. This approach allows knowledge alterations within LLMs to be reflected through an external graph structure. Subsequently, we design a graph-based knowledge edit module to integrate structured knowledge into the model editing. This ensures that the updated parameters reflect not only the modifications of the edited knowledge but also the changes in other associated knowledge resulting from the editing process. Comprehensive experiments conducted on GPT-J and GPT-2 XL demonstrate that GLAME significantly improves the generalization capabilities of post-edit LLMs in employing edited knowledge. Due to the development of the Internet of Things, mobile crowdsensing has emerged as a promising pervasive sensing paradigm for online spatiotemporal data collection, by leveraging ubiquitous mobile devices. However, privacy leakage of device users is a crucial problem, especially when an untrusted central platform in mobile crowdsensing is considered. Moreover, private information of users like trajectories contained in both location tags and sensed values of their sensing data may be unexpectedly revealed to the platform. In order to solve this problem, we proposed a joint location-value privacy protection approach, which consists of two privacy preserving mechanisms to perturb the locations and sensed values of users, respectively. The approach can be performed by each user locally and independently. The privacy of users can be well preserved, as we theoretically prove that the two mechanisms satisfy local differential privacy. In addition, extensive simulations are conducted, and the results show that accurate estimated values can be derived based on perturbed locations and sanitized sensed values, by adopting the truth discovery method. © 2021, ICST Institute for computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Named Data networking (NDN) is an information-centric internet architecture that delivers packets based on the name of the content in the packet. A key component of NDN is the caching strategy designed to reduce total network latency and load on content producers. To improve the speed and reliability of web content delivery, existing caching strategies typically cache content on a large number of intermediate nodes, which incur significant energy consumption and memory overhead. However, in Internet of Things (IoT) scenarios, memory and energy of nodes are scarce resources. Therefore, in NDN-based IoT applications, traditional caching strategies can cause node failures due to energy depletion, which can significantly reduce the network operational lifetime as well as create problems that caching is supposed to solve. In this paper, a caching strategy based on node centrality and energy availability, called Energy-aware Approximate Betweenness Centrality (EABC) is proposed for NDN-based IoT. EABC uses a topology-based heuristic to cache data content on nodes with high centrality and makes caching decisions based on the remaining energy of the nodes. We evaluate EABC using simulations based on ndnSIM in different topologies and compare it with several existing NDN caching strategies. The results show that EABC performs better in different types of network topologies, reduces the average transmission delay of data and balances the energy consumption of highly central nodes, thus extending the network lifetime.

This paper studies the extreme learning machine (ELM)-based time-constrained trajectory tracking control of a class of robotic manipulator systems with model/input uncertainties, matched and mismatched disturbances. A uniform robust exact differentiator (URED) is developed to construct a multi-layer virtual control framework of the robotic manipulator system. Under the control framework, adaptive ELM-based control strategies are proposed to suppress the influence of the uncertainties and disturbances layer-by-layer, combining with the minimum learning parameter (MLP) technique which is employed to reduce the calculation complexity of ELM parameters. The significance of this study is that general model/input uncertainties, matched and mismatched disturbances can be effectively compensated within a limited time, so that bounded trajectory tracking of the robotic manipulator can be achieved avoiding the complexity explosion issue. The time-constrained stability of the closed-loop robotic error systems is proved through Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, comparative simulations are employed to display the feasibility and superiority of the designed robust adaptive ELM-based control schemes of a robotic manipulator system. © 2013 IEEE.

PA&DA: Jointly Sampling PAth and DAta for Consistent NAS

Based on the weight-sharing mechanism, one-shot NAS methods train a supernet and then inherit the pre-trained weights to evaluate sub-models, largely reducing the search cost. However, several works have pointed out that the shared weights suffer from different gradient descent directions during training. And we further find that large gradient variance occurs during supernet training, which degrades the supernet ranking consistency. To mitigate this issue, we propose to explicitly minimize the gradient variance of the supernet training by jointly optimizing the sampling distributions of PAth and DAta (PA&DA). We theoretically derive the relationship between the gradient variance and the sampling distributions, and reveal that the optimal sampling probability is proportional to the normalized gradient norm of path and training data. Hence, we use the normalized gradient norm as the importance indicator for path and training data, and adopt an importance sampling strategy for the supernet training. Our method only requires negligible computation cost for optimizing the sampling distributions of path and data, but achieves lower gradient variance during supernet training and better generalization performance for the supernet, resulting in a more consistent NAS. We conduct comprehensive comparisons with other improved approaches in various search spaces. Results show that our method surpasses others with more reliable ranking performance and higher accuracy of searched architectures, showing the effectiveness of our method. Federated Learning (FL) is a privacy-preserving solution that addresses the issue of data security. It achieves model aggregation by uploading only the locally trained parameters of each party to a central server, thus preserving the original privacy of each entity. However, recent studies indicate that the global parameters aggregated by the server and the local parameters submitted by users may inadvertently reveal private data. In this paper, we propose a secure FL aggregation protocol based on parameter confusion and restoration. Our protocol ensures the protection of local parameters uploaded by a single client by uploading only blurred parameters to the server. The global model aggregated by the server remains unaffected by the interference data, ensuring the high accuracy of the final model. Furthermore, the aggregation server remains unaware of any parameter information during training. We demonstrate the security of our protocol against a semihonest adversary environment and prove that even if n-2 participants collude with the server, it is impossible to learn the private information of the honest participants. Our tests on the MNIST and cifar10 datasets show that our system achieves accuracy comparable to the plaintext baseline. © (2023) All Rights Reserved.

In the image restoration task, how to make full use of spatial and channel feature information to improve the reconstruction quality of the model without significantly increasing the computational complexity is an important research issue. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a CS module (Channel Compression and Split-Attention) specifically for optimizing image denoising tasks. The module first compresses the features through a preliminary convolution operation, then introduces the split attention convolution mechanism to split the features by channel and dynamically weight them, thereby enhancing the model's adaptive attention to different feature channels and improving feature expression capabilities. Through experiments on multiple image denoising datasets, the results show that the CS module significantly improves the image reconstruction quality, especially in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR). At the same time, the introduction of the CS module does not lead to a significant increase in computational complexity, maintaining a high computational efficiency, which verifies the practicality and superiority of the module in image denoising tasks.

The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, big data, and generative AI models has ushered in significant transformations across various sectors, including education. Digital Human Technique, an innovative technology grounded in advanced computer science and artificial intelligence, is reshaping educational paradigms by enabling virtual humans to simulate human behavior, express emotions, and interact with users. This paper explores the application of Digital Human Technique in education reform, focusing on creating immersive, intelligent classroom experiences that foster meaningful interactions between teachers and students. We define Digital Human Technique and delve into its key technical components such as character modeling and rendering, natural language processing, computer vision, and augmented reality technologies. Our methodology involves analyzing the role of educational digital humans created through these technologies, assessing their impact on educational processes, and examining various application scenarios in educational reform. Results indicate that Digital Human Technique significantly enhances the learning experience by enabling personalized teaching, increasing engagement, and fostering emotional connections. Educational digital humans serve as virtual teachers, interactive learning aids, and facilitators of emotional interaction, effectively addressing the challenges of traditional educational methods. The Internet of Things (IoT) is rapidly permeating all aspects of human life, involving a network of devices that share sensitive data. A notable application is the e-healthcare systems, which employ connected sensors, medical servers, and wearable devices. However, the public nature of communication in e-healthcare systems poses challenges such as security, privacy, and authentication of participating entities. Recently, many authentication protocols have been introduced to address these challenges. However, most of these protocols remain vulnerable to various security attacks, including device or medical server impersonation, denial of service, physical or cloning, and de-synchronization attacks. Therefore, we introduce an authenticated key-management protocol utilizing hash functions and Cipher-Block Chaining-Advanced Encryption Standard encryption (CBC-AES) encryption. The proposed protocol also employs the Physical Unclonable Function (PUF), which makes it more robust and efficient in resisting physical or cloning attacks. Additionally, the proposed scheme resists various security threats, including impersonation, session key leakage, ephemeral secret leakage, and de-synchronization attacks. We analyze the scheme’s security and reliability through formal and informal analysis. The informal analysis demonstrates that the scheme encompasses crucial security features, while the formal analysis substantiates. Moreover, performance analysis of the proposed protocol with various competing results indicates that our protocol achieves an average reduction in communication and computation overheads by 36.03.% and 41.79%, respectively. © 2014 IEEE.

Stereoscopic images usually consist of a left view, a right view, and depth information. Stereoscopic/3D image quality assessment (SIQA) is often more challenging compared to 2D-IQA due to the usual scene differences between left and right views and the complexity of the binocular vision fusion process. To address the problem of quality prediction bias of multi-distortion images, we investigated the visual physiology and the processing of visual information by the primary visual cortex of the human brain and proposed a no-reference stereoscopic image quality evaluation method. The method mainly includes an innovative end-to-end NR-SIQA neural network with a picture patch generation algorithm. The algorithm generates a saliency map by fusing the left and right views and then guides the image cropping in the database based on the saliency map. The proposed models are validated and compared based on publicly available databases. The results show that the model and algorithm together outperform the state-of-the-art NR-SIQA metric in the LIVE 3D database and the WIVC 3D database, and have excellent results in the specific noise metric. The model generalization experiments demonstrate a certain degree of generality of our proposed model. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
