Robust Imagined Speech Production Using AI-Generated Content Network for Patients with Language Impairments

Imagined speech production is critical for brain-computer interface systems. It is able to provide the communication ability for patients with language impairments. Nowadays, many studies have developed algorithms for this purpose. However, they often struggle with an issue that is the noise in physiological signals from various devices. This makes current methods have low robustness when performing speech generation. To this end, we propose a framework to robustly producing imagined speech for patients with language impairments. It is based on artificial intelligent-generated content (AIGC). In specific, this work develops a diffusion model to remove noise from brain signals, which are then converted and normalized into log-mel spectrograms. Next, the product feeds into a transformer-based model to extract local and global features. Finally, these enhanced features are inputted into full connected layers to generate the imagined speech. The effectiveness of our model is validated using the high-quality, i.e., single-word-production-Dutch-iBIDS dataset. It achieves Pearson correlation scores above 0.8 and standard deviations below 0.2 across different volunteers. Experimental results well demonstrate that our model is robust and has advantages over peer methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Coulomb and Franklin’s electricity laws are used in this paper to model an efficient optimization algorithm based on electric particle searches, which has been named CFA. For the CFA optimizer, the influence of electrically charged particles on each other in charged things has been predicated on the forces of attraction and repulsion. Evolutionary algorithms (EA) such as hybrid real coded genetic algorithm (RCGA) which combines the global and local search (GL-25), differential evolution (DE) with strategy adaptation (SaDE), composite DE (CoDE), the improved standard particle swarm optimization 2011 (SPSO2013) and the grouped comprehensive learning PSO (GCLPSO) are compared to the CFA optimizer for finding global solutions of seven basic benchmark functions of high dimension D = 50. (GCLPSO). Experiments have shown that the suggested CFA optimizer is quite effective and competitive for the benchmark functions. Molecular Representation Learning (MRL) has emerged as a powerful tool for drug and materials discovery in a variety of tasks such as virtual screening and inverse design. While there has been a surge of interest in advancing model-centric techniques, the influence of both data quantity and quality on molecular representations is not yet clearly understood within this field. In this paper, we delve into the neural scaling behaviors of MRL from a data-centric viewpoint, examining four key dimensions: (1) data modalities, (2) dataset splitting, (3) the role of pre-training, and (4) model capacity. Our empirical studies confirm a consistent power-law relationship between data volume and MRL performance across these dimensions. Additionally, through detailed analysis, we identify potential avenues for improving learning efficiency. To challenge these scaling laws, we adapt seven popular data pruning strategies to molecular data and benchmark their performance. Our findings underline the importance of data-centric MRL and highlight possible directions for future research.

Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) are increasingly deployed across diverse industries, driving a growing demand to enable their capabilities on mobile devices. However, existing mobile inference frameworks are often rely on a single processor to handle each model’s inference, limiting hardware utilization and leading to suboptimal performance and energy efficiency. Expanding DNNs accessibility on mobile platforms requires more adaptive and resource-efficient solutions to meet increasing computational demands without compromising device functionality. Nevertheless, parallel inference of multiple DNNs on heterogeneous processors remains a significant challenge. Several works have explored partitioning DNN operations into subgraphs to enable parallel execution across heterogeneous processors. However, these approaches typically generate excessive subgraphs based solely on hardware compatibility, increasing scheduling complexity and memory management overhead. To address these limitations, we propose an Advanced Multi-DNN Model Scheduling (ADMS) strategy that optimizes multi-DNN inference across heterogeneous processors on mobile devices. ADMS constructs an optimal subgraph partitioning strategy offline, considering both hardware support of operations and scheduling granularity, while employing a processor-state-aware scheduling algorithm that dynamically balances workloads based on real-time operational conditions. This ensures efficient workload distribution and maximizes the utilization of available processors. Metamorphic Relation (MR) plays a crucial role in Metamorphic Testing (MT), which can be regarded as the implication relation from the input pattern to the output pattern. Based on MR's properties, the identification of Metamorphic Relations (MRs) can be from its input pattern and output pattern, respectively. However, the finding of the effective input pattern is very first and important. Especially for complicated mathematical function includes more than two input variables, we systematically analyze the structural model of input pattern in MR, propose the concept of the class of basic input pattern, as well as prove that any one input pattern can be expressed as a combination of basic input patterns in scientific computing programs. Moreover, the structural model of input pattern in MR is established based on previous proof. Finally, we put forward an identification algorithm framework and analysis its complexity. The core contribution of our method is to decompose the input pattern identification problem in multi-dimensional space into a single one-dimensional. For this reason, the examples show that the complexity of the algorithm is reduced significantly. © 2022 IEEE.

In the era of big data, the extensive applications of electronic medical records (EMRs) improve the efficiency of consultations and patient data management. However, it may cause privacy leakage and data damage during inappropriate uses. Fortunately, the advantages of blockchain, such as anonymity, decentralization, and immutability, can provide a favorable platform for health data sharing. This paper proposes a privacy-preserving EMRs sharing scheme based on blockchain. In our scheme, we offer the fine-grained access control property using an identity-based signcryption scheme and ensure no single point of failure through the interplanetary file system (IPFS). Furthermore, for traceability, smart contracts and blockchains are jointly used to record the processes of data storage and access. In the end, we make a security analysis of our proposed scheme to illustrate that it can meet data privacy and integrity requirements. Moreover, we conducted several experiments by timing the consumption of data encryption and decryption to indicate that our work has a lower computation cost than other related works. © 2022,International Journal of Network Security. Reliable Source Approximation: Source-Free Unsupervised Domain Adaptation for Vestibular Schwannoma MRI Segmentation

Source-Free Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (SFUDA) has recently become a focus in the medical image domain adaptation, as it only utilizes the source model and does not require annotated target data. However, current SFUDA approaches cannot tackle the complex segmentation task across different MRI sequences, such as the vestibular schwannoma segmentation. To address this problem, we proposed Reliable Source Approximation (RSA), which can generate source-like and structure-preserved images from the target domain for updating model parameters and adapting domain shifts. Specifically, RSA deploys a conditional diffusion model to generate multiple source-like images under the guidance of varying edges of one target image. An uncertainty estimation module is then introduced to predict and refine reliable pseudo labels of generated images, and the prediction consistency is developed to select the most reliable generations. Subsequently, all reliable generated images and their pseudo labels are utilized to update the model. Our RSA is validated on vestibular schwannoma segmentation across multi-modality MRI. The experimental results demonstrate that RSA consistently improves domain adaptation performance over other state-of-the-art SFUDA methods. Multi-modal emotion recognition plays a vital role in the human-computer interaction (HCI) for consumer electronics. Nowadays, many studies have developed multi-modal fusion algorithms for this ***, two challenging issues remain unsolved, i.e., inefficient multi-modal feature fusion and unclear distance in feature *** this end, we develop a novel framework, namely LAFDA-Net, for cross-subject emotion recognition using EEG and eye movement *** is based on low-rank fusion and domain adaptation *** specifically, the multi-modal signals are input into the feature extraction branch in parallel to generate ***, these features are fused by the low-rank fusion branch, reducing complexity and avoiding ***, the fused features are flattened and sent to the classification branch to determine the emotion *** training, these features are input into the domain adaptive branch to bridge the gap between the source domain and target *** benchmark datasets, i.e., SEED, SEED-IV, and SEED-V, are employed for performance *** results demonstrate that the proposed LAFDA-Net is robust, effective, and has advantages over peer methods. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic revealed the criticality of timely intervention in a situation exacerbated by a shortage in medical staff and equipment. Pain-level screening is the initial step toward identifying the severity of patient conditions. Automatic recognition of state and feelings help in identifying patient symptoms to take immediate adequate action and providing a patient-centric medical plan tailored to a patient's state. In this paper, we propose a framework for pain-level detection for deployment in the United Arab Emirates and assess its performance using the most used approaches in the literature. Our results show that a deployment of a pain-level deep learning detection framework is promising in identifying the pain level accurately.
