Outlier detection is an important task in data mining with numerous applications. Recent years, the study on outlier detection is very active, many algorithms were proposed including that based on clustering. However, most outlier detection algorithms based on clustering often need parameters, and it is very difficult to select a suitable parameter for different data set. In order to solve this problem, an outlier detection algorithm called outlier detection based on cluster outlier factor and mutual density is proposed in this paper which combining the natural neighbor search algorithm of the Natural Outlier Factor (NOF) algorithm and based on the Density and Distance Cluster (DDC) algorithm. The mutual density and γ density is used to construct decision graph. The data points with γ density anomalously large in decision graph are treated as cluster centers. This algorithm detect the boundary of outlier cluster using cluster outlier factor called Cluster Outlier Factor (COF), it can automatic find the parameter. This method can achieve good performance in clustering and outlier detection which be shown in the experiments. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2019.

Static image is an important form of displaying a sketch, representing the appearance information of the sketch. And a stroke sequence composed of several points can also express the shape and contour information of the sketch. Therefore, it is very reasonable to treat a sketch as point-modal data and image-modal data simultaneously. In this paper, a method based on bi-modal model using cooperative learning paradigm is proposed for the sketch recognition task. Specifically, in the point-modal branch, a structural point convolution block is developed by properly dividing local regions to preserve the structural information. In the image-modal branch, the hierarchical residual structure is used to fully extract image-modal features. To reduce the negative impact of noisy samples on the recognition performance, a cooperative learning paradigm is designed based on different perceptual abilities of two modal branches on noisy samples, that is, when training the two branches, the noisy samples can be filtered out through information exchanges and mutual learning. Extensive experiments on the sketch datasets TU-Berlin and QuickDraw show that the proposed method outperforms most baseline methods and has many advantages such as no dependence on additional data and stroke information. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

With eXtensible Markup Language (XML) becoming more and more popular, to avoid the redundancy, XML schema design has become an important issue. So the normalization of XML is a hotspot in research field. Similar to relational database, this paper is database based with the goal of eliminating the data redundancy, to study the concepts of path expression in Document Type Definition (DTD). In this paper, XML is extended with functional dependency (XFD) and multi-valued dependency (XMVD), which are fundamental to semantic specification. And make formalized definitions on XFD and XMVD;Based on the concepts of XML tree and data dependency, it provides the description of key and redundancy. On the condition of the coexistence of XFD and XMVD, it further proposes the terms to meet the fourth normal form (4XNF) and provides theorem to determine the XML document tree which meets the above terms without redundancy, and the sound of the 4XNF is proved by experiment.

A new method of identifying influential nodes in complex software network based on leaderrank

Identifying influential nodes is crucial for understanding and improving the stability and robustness of complex software network. This paper presents a new method based on LeaderRank information to identify top-k influential nodes in directed-weighted complex software network. Firstly, the function and relationship of function calling or dependency are mapped to a Directed function dependency network (DN). Secondly, a so-called stem node connected with every other node by a bidirectional link is introduced into the original network. Thirdly, an algorithm Constructing DWN (C-DWN) is used to transform a DN into a Directed-Weighted function dependency network (DWN). Finally, the Identifying Influential Node in Software Network (IIN-SN) algorithm is proposed to identify influential nodes. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective for identifying influential nodes with the final score ranking following power-laws. The top-k most influential nodes are the same and the final score (NS) of each node is a little larger during the software evolution. What is more, we present that some factors such as in-degree of nodes and influence of connected nodes are related to the influence of nodes. © 2016 ICIC International.

Cardinality estimation is the process to survey the quantity of tags in a RFID system. Generally, the cardinality is estimated by exchanging information between reader(s) and tags. To ensure the time efficiency and accuracy of estimation, numerous probability-based approaches have been proposed, most of which follow a similar way of minimizing the number of required time slots from tags to reader. The overall execution time of the estimator, however, is not necessarily minimized. The estimation accuracy of those approaches also largely depends on the repeated rounds, leading to a dilemma of choosing efficiency or accuracy. In this paper, we propose BFCE, a Bloom Filter based Cardinality Estimator, which only needs a constant number of time slots to meet desired estimation accuracy, regardless of the actual tag cardinality. The overall communication overhead is also significantly cut down, as the reader only needs to broadcast a constant number of messages for parameter setting. Results from extensive simulations under various tag IDs distributions shows that BFCE is accurate and highly efficient. In terms of the overall execution time, BFCE is 30 times faster than ZOE and 2 times faster than SRC in average, the two state-of-the-arts estimation approaches.

RFID systems nowadays are operated at large-scale in terms of both occupied space and tag quantity. One may have prior knowledge of the complete set of tags (denoted by N) and any set of wanted tags (denoted by M) within the complete set, i.e., M ⊆ N. Then here comes an open problem: when one is particularly interested in a subarea of the system, how to collect information (not simply tagIDs) from a wanted subset (denoted by d M ) of the interrogated tags (denoted by d N ) in that subarea? This issue has great significance in many practical applications but appears to be challenging when there is a stringent time constraint. In this work, we first establish the lower-bound of this problem, and show a straightforward polling solution. Then, we propose a novel polling protocol called LocP, which consists of two phases: the Tags-Filtering phase and the Ordering-and-Reporting phase. LocP employs Bloom Filter twice to significantly reduce the scale of candidate tags in the Tags-Filtering phase. In the Ordering-and-Reporting phase, tags determine their own transmission time-slots according to the allocation vectors iteratively broadcasted by the reader. LocP thus achieves a delicate tradeoff between time and polling accuracy. We conduct extensive simulations to evaluate the performance of LocP. The results demonstrate that LocP is highly efficient in terms of information collection time, leading to convincing applicability and scalability of large-scale RFID systems.

With the proliferation of the digital economy, cloud API has become the best carrier for data transmission and capability replication in software development. In the service-oriented software development paradigm, developers select appropriate cloud APIs for mashup creation based on their practical needs, where complementarity is an important consideration. Complementarity is reflected in various implicit relationships within mashups and cloud APIs, making complementarity analysis of cloud API ecosystems a critical issue. However, existing studies have overlooked the complementarity, and the lack of application variety in the primary dataset ProgrammableWeb has added a threat to the validity and generalization. In this paper, we first build a dataset of two cloud API ecosystems: ProgrammableWeb centering on mashup creation and Huawei AppGallery centering on mobile app development. Then, we conduct statistical and graph analysis to compare the two ecosystems. Finally, we propose a modeling approach to quantify complementarity and perform an analysis to investigate the role of complementarity in cloud API ecosystems. The results reveal differences between mashups and mobile apps in their preferences for cloud APIs. It also highlights the potential of complementarity in addressing the long-tail problem in cloud API ecosystems and improving cloud API recommendations.

A novel approach for mining important nodes in directed-weighted complex software network

If the software system is abstracted as a software network, its quality largely depends on the topology structure. A tiny fraction key function nodes play a critical role in improving the stability, reliability and robustness of complex software network. How to identify the top-k key nodes accurately and effectively becomes more and more significant both in theoretical and practical. In this paper, a novel approach based on semi-global information of mining top-k key nodes in directed-weighted complex software network is proposed. Firstly, we map the function and relationship of function calling or dependency to a directed function dependency network (DFDN). Secondly, an algorithm DFS-WEIGHT based on Depth-First-Search strategy is used to transform a DFDN into a directed-weighted function dependency network (DWFDN). Thirdly, we treat function nodes of DWFDN as two different roles - the caller or callee. Callers with high ability of accumulating vulnerabilities and callees with high ability of propagating vulnerabilities are considered as key nodes. Then, two metrics SABAC and SABPR are defined to measure the importance of callers and callees respectively. Finally, a Software Network key Node miNing (SN-KNN) algorithm is proposed to mine most important callers and callees. Experimental results indicate that the algorithm SN-KNN is effective in mining key nodes. ©, 2015, Binary Information Press. All right reserved.

An efficient approach to mine maximal continuous frequent patterns from software function call sequence

Certain characteristics of software are often hidden in its structure and can only be discovered when the software is executed dynamically. So mining important patterns from dynamic call graph of software plays an important role in analyzing software security. However the general sequential pattern mining algorithms may lead to poor performance due to the lack of consideration on the continuous property of software function call sequence. In this paper, combining with the characteristics of software itself, function call sequence is modeled firstly. The sequence represents the call relationship among functions of software. Then a novel structure called Nitem-List is put forward. The structure stores both the next item and the support information which is heuristic information for pruning the search space about a pattern. On the basis of that, an efficient algorithm called Maximal Continuous Frequent Pattern Miner (MCFP-Miner) and an update algorithm UMCFP-Miner are proposed. After constructing the initial Nitem-Lists from a mined database, MCFP-Miner can mine continuous frequent patterns from these Nitem-Lists. In UMCFP-Miner, a tighter bound for pruning is proposed. Finally, extensive experiments on various databases show that algorithm MCFP-Miner and UMCFP-Miner have better efficiency. ©, 2015, Binary Information Press. All right reserved.
