Affective brain-computer interfaces based on electroencephalography (EEG) is an important branch in the field of affective computing. However, individual differences and noisy labels seriously limit the effectiveness and generalizability of EEG-based emotion recognition models. In this paper, we propose a novel transfer learning framework with Prototypical Representation based Pairwise Learning (PR-PL) to learn discriminative and generalized prototypical representations for emotion revealing across individuals and formulate emotion recognition as pairwise learning for alleviating the reliance on precise label information. More specifically, a prototypical learning-based adversarial discriminative domain adaptation method is developed to encode the inherent emotion-related semantic structure of EEG data, while pairwise learning with an adaptive pseudo-labeling method is developed to achieve a reliable and stable model learning with noisy labels. Through domain adaptation, feature representations of source and target domains are aligned on a shared feature space, while the feature separability of both source and target domains is also considered. The characterized prototypical representations are evident with a high feature concentration within one single emotion category and a high feature separability across different emotion categories. Extensive experiments are conducted on two benchmark databases under four cross-validation evaluation protocols (cross-subject cross-session, cross-subject within-session, within-subject cross-session, and within-subject within-session). The experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed PR-PL against the state-of-the-arts under all four evaluation protocols, which shows the effectiveness and generalizability of PR-PL in dealing with the ambiguity of EEG responses in affective studies. The spread of COVID-19 has brought a huge disaster to the world, and the automatic segmentation of infection regions can help doctors to make diagnosis quickly and reduce workload. However, there are several challenges for the accurate and complete segmentation, such as the scattered infection area distribution, complex background noises, and blurred segmentation boundaries. To this end, in this paper, we propose a novel network for automatic COVID-19 lung infection segmentation from CT images, named BCS-Net, which considers the boundary, context, and semantic attributes. The BCS-Net follows an encoder-decoder architecture, and more designs focus on the decoder stage that includes three progressively Boundary-Context-Semantic Reconstruction (BCSR) blocks. In each BCSR block, the attention-guided global context (AGGC) module is designed to learn the most valuable encoder features for decoder by highlighting the important spatial and boundary locations and modeling the global context dependence. Besides, a semantic guidance (SG) unit generates the semantic guidance map to refine the decoder features by aggregating multi-scale high-level features at the intermediate resolution. Variable-length hierarchical names of Named data networking (NDN) content bring about intuitive issues for both content routing and large-scale forwarding. Bloom filters can accelerate hash-based NDN content discovery with a false positive probability. In this paper, we propose ECBF, a component-based bloom filter scheme to enhance the reliability of bloom filters. We exploit the hierarchical characteristics of NDN content names and store them into different bloom filters in a component-based way, and then we present a correlation validation policy to check whether the names exist. Finally, we introduce an ECBF-based content discovery scheme BCD. ECBF and the correlation validation value are stored in a fast on-chip memory, and cryptographic check values of content names and related information are respectively stored in an off-chip memory of intermediate routers. This design not only improves the effectiveness of content discovery, but also reduces the additional memory throughput. We experimentally demonstrate that BCD can provide a more than twice reduction of false probability compared with the primary bloom filter methods. Besides, BCD can economize about 40% memory consumption. © 2019 IEEE.

Archaeological,genetic,and linguistic evidence has supported the idea that northern China is the original center of modern Sino-Tibetan-speaking ***,the demographic history of subsequent southward migration and genetic admixture of Han Chinese with surrounding indigenous populations remain uncharacterized,and the language shifts and assimilations accompanied by movement of people,or just an adaptation of cultural ideas among populations in central China is still unclear,especially for Tibeto-Burman-speaking Tujia and central Han Chinese *** resolve this,we genotyped over 60K genome-wide markers in 505 unrelated individuals from 63 indigenous *** results showed both studied Han and Tujia were at the intermediate position in the modern East Asian North-South genetic cline and there was a correlation between the genetic composition and the *** observed the strong genetic assimilation between Tujia people and central Han Chinese,which suggested massive population movements and genetic admixture under language *** and central Han Chinese could be modeled as a two-way admixture deriving primary ancestry from a northern ancestral population closely related to the ancient DevilsCave and present-day Tibetans and a southern ancestral population closely related to the present-day Tai-Kadai and Austronesian-speaking *** ancestral northern population we suspect to be related to the Neolithic millet farming groups in the Yellow River Basin or central *** showed that the newly genotyped populations in Hubei Province had a higher proportion of DevilsCave or modern Tungusic/Mongolic-related northern ancestries,while the Hunan populations harbored a higher proportion of Austronesian/Tai-Kadai-related southern ancestries.

Tables often represent densely packed but structured data. Understanding table semantics is vital for effective information retrieval and data mining. Unlike web tables, whose semantics are readable directly from markup language and contents, the full analysis of tables published as images requires the conversion of discrete data into structured information. This paper presents a novel framework to convert a table image into its syntactic representation through the relationships between its cells. In order to reconstruct the syntactic structures of a table, we build a cell relationship network to predict the neighbors of each cell in four directions. During the training stage, a distance-based sample weight is proposed to handle the class imbalance problem. According to the detected relationships, the table is represented by a weighted graph that is then employed to infer the basic syntactic table structure. Experimental evaluation of the proposed framework using two datasets demonstrates the effectiveness of our model for cell relationship detection and table structure inference. © 2019 IEEE.

Gaussian Processes (GPs) define distributions over functions and their generalization capabilities depend heavily on the choice of kernels. In this paper, we propose a novel structure-aware random Fourier (SRF) kernel for GPs that brings several benefits when modeling graph-structured data. First, SRF kernel is defined with a spectral distribution based on the Fourier duality given by the Bochner's theorem, transforming the kernel learning problem to a distribution inference problem. Second, SRF kernel admits a random Fourier feature formulation that makes the kernel scalable for optimization. Third, SRF kernel enables to leverage geometric structures by taking subgraphs as inputs. To effectively optimize GPs with SRF kernel, we develop a variational EM algorithm, which alternates between an inference procedure (E-step) and a learning procedure (M-step). Experimental results on five real-world datasets show that our model can achieve state-of-the-art performance in two typical graph learning tasks, i.e., object classification and link prediction.

Combinatorial resources auction in decentralized edge-thing systems using blockchain and differential privacy

With the continuous expansion of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, edge computing mode has emerged in recent years to overcome the shortcomings of traditional cloud computing mode, such as high delay, network congestion, and large resource consumption. Thus, edge-thing systems will replace the classic cloud-thing/cloud-edge-thing systems and become mainstream gradually, where IoT devices can offload their tasks to neighboring edge nodes. A common problem is how to utilize edge computing resources. For the sake of fairness, double auction can be used in the edge-thing system to achieve an effective resource allocation and pricing mechanism. Due to the lack of third-party management agencies and mutual distrust between nodes, in our edge-thing systems, we introduce blockchains to prevent malicious nodes from tampering with transaction records and smart contracts to act as an auctioneer to realize resources auction. Since the auction results stored in this blockchain-based system are transparent, they are threatened with inference attacks. Thus in this paper, we design a differentially private combinatorial double auction mechanism by exploring the exponential mechanism such that maximizing the revenue of edge computing platform, in which each IoT device requests a resource bundle and edge nodes compete with each other to provide resources. It can not only guarantee approximate truthfulness and high revenue, but also ensure privacy security. Authentication schemes are used to authenticate the identity of communication parties and widely applied to several environments. Recently, Wu et al. proposed an anonymous message authentication scheme in smart grid. Visual hallucination detection in large vision-language models via evidential conflict

Despite the remarkable multimodal capabilities of Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs), discrepancies often occur between visual inputs and textual outputs—a phenomenon we term visual hallucination. This critical reliability gap poses substantial risks in safety-critical Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications, necessitating a comprehensive evaluation benchmark and effective detection methods. Firstly, we observe that existing visual-centric hallucination benchmarks mainly assess LVLMs from a perception perspective, overlooking hallucinations arising from more advanced reasoning capabilities. We develop the Perception-Reasoning Evaluation Hallucination (PRE-HAL) dataset, which enables the systematic evaluation of both perception and reasoning capabilities of LVLMs across multiple visual semantics, such as instances, scenes, and relations. Comprehensive evaluation with this new benchmark exposed more visual vulnerabilities, particularly in the more challenging task of relation reasoning. To address this issue, we propose, to the best of our knowledge, the first Dempster-Shafer theory (DST)-based visual hallucination detection method for LVLMs through uncertainty estimation. This method aims to efficiently capture the degree of conflict in high-level features at the model inference phase. Specifically, our approach employs simple mass functions to mitigate the computational complexity of evidence combination on power sets. We conduct an extensive evaluation of state-of-the-art LVLMs, LLaVA-v1.5, mPLUG-Owl2, and mPLUG-Owl3, with the new PRE-HAL benchmark. Experimental results indicate that our method outperforms five baseline uncertainty metrics, achieving average AUROC improvements of 4% and 10% across three LVLMs. Notably, it exhibits remarkable robustness in scene perception tasks. These results validate that feature-level conflict analysis offers a scalable, cost-effective solution for enhancing LVLM trustworthiness. Our code is available at https://***/HT
