The ubiquitousness of GPS sensors in smart-phones, vehicles and wearable devices has enabled the collection of massive volumes of trajectory data from tracing moving objects. Consequently, an unprecedented scale of timestamped GPS data has been generated and posed an urgent demand for an effective storage mechanism for trajectory databases. The mainstream compression technique is called trajectory simplification, that finds a subsequence to approximate the original trajectory and attempts to minimize the information loss under a distance measure. Even though various simplification algorithms have been proposed in the past decades, there still lacks a thorough comparison to cover all the state-of-the-art algorithms and evaluate their quality using datasets in diversified motion patterns. Hence, it still remains a challenge for GPS data collectors to determine a proper algorithm in a concrete application. In addition, almost the entire line of previous methods uses error-based metrics to evaluate the compression quality, while ignoring their usability in supporting spatio-temporal queries on top of the reduced database. To bridge these gaps, we conduct so far the most comprehensive evaluation on trajectory simplification techniques. We compare the performance of 25 algorithms in total using five real datasets in different motion patterns. Generalized domain prompt learning for accessible scientific vision-language models

Large-scale vision-language models have shown remarkable success in general vision tasks, inspiring the development of domain-specific models. However, creating these models requires substantial investments in annotated data, computational resources, and energy, making such endeavors largely accessible to industrial giants. This resource-intensive nature of model development inadvertently stifles academic research, particularly for smaller research groups, and limits the diversity and growth of the field. To address these challenges and promote more sustainable and equitable research, we introduce the generalized domain prompt learning framework. This framework enables the efficient transfer of robust recognition capabilities from natural vision to specialized domains without the need for large datasets or heavy computational overhead. By leveraging small-scale domain-specific foundation models and minimal prompt samples, the framework enriches the language component with domain-specific knowledge through quaternion networks, revealing cross-modal relationships between specialized vision features and natural vision-based contextual embeddings. Simultaneously, it drives the vision component toward domain-specific tasks via hierarchical propagation of vision prompts, grounded in well-matched vision-language relationships. To maximize the domain adaptation potential of these models, we also propose a novel low-rank adaptation technique. Extensive experiments across diverse domains—including remote sensing, medical imaging, geology, synthetic aperture radar, and fluid dynamics—demonstrate the effectiveness of the framework, achieving state-of-the-art domain recognition performance within a prompt learning structure. Risk Assessment of Knowledge Transfer in Green Building Based on ISM-MICMAC

Green buildings have made a significant contribution to low-carbon and energy-saving. However, green construction projects will face greater risks than traditional construction projects due to their high cost and complex technology. Having important information or knowledge can help the project organization to stifle the risk at the source. This paper intends to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of knowledge transfer by studying the risk assessment in the process of knowledge transfer between project organizations, thereby helping to reduce the risk of green building projects. This paper first explores the influencing factors of knowledge transfer and the interrelationship between the influencing factors by analyzing the existing literature; then uses ISM method and the MICMAC analysis method, to sort out the order and hierarchy of the influencing factors in knowledge transfer, and analyze at the same time their forces of driving and dependences. Then author proposes countermeasures to the risk of knowledge transfer between project organizations. The results show that the two types of risks, low network connection strength and lack of transfer mechanisms, have a greater impact on knowledge transfer, but they are easy to manage. Therefore, construction project managers should identify these factors first and take certain measures to avoid these risks.

Halide-related surface defects on inorganic halide perovskite not only induce charge recombination but also severely limit the long-term stability of perovskite solar cells. Herein, adopting density functional theory calculation, we verify that iodine interstitials (I i ) has a low formation energy similar to that of the iodine vacancy (V I ) and is also readily formed on the surface of all-inorganic perovskite, and it is regarded to function as an electron trap. We screen a specific 2,6-diaminopyridine (2,6-DAPy) passivator, which, with the aid of the combined effects from halogen-N pyridine and coordination bonds, not only successfully eliminates the I i and dissociative I 2 but also passivates the abundant V I . Furthermore, the two symmetric neighboring -NH 2 groups interact with adjacent halides of the octahedral cluster by forming hydrogen bonds, which further promotes the adsorption of 2,6-DAPy molecules onto the perovskite surface. Such synergetic effects can significantly passivate harmful iodine-related defects and undercoordinated Pb 2+ , prolong carrier lifetimes and facilitate the interfacial hole transfer. Consequently, these merits enhance the power-conversion efficiency (PCE) from 19.6 % to 21.8 %, the highest value for this type of solar cells, just as importantly, the 2,6-DAPy-treated CsPbI 3− x Br x films show better environmental stability.

Docker has been widely adopted in production environment, but unfortunately deployment and cold-start of container are limited by the low speed of disk. The emerging non-volatile memory (NVM) technology, which has high speed and can store data permanently, brings a new chance to accelerate the deployment and cold-start of container. However, it is expensive to replace the whole hard disk driver (HDD) with NVM. To achieve the fastest deployment and cold-start with lowest cost, we conduct in-depth analysis on the Top-134 images in Docker Hub and obtain two main insights as: (1) the storing latency of layered image has become the bottleneck of container deployment;(2) only a few image layers are required for container cold-start. Based on these two findings, we propose a NVM-HDD hybrid docker storage framework as N-Docker. It can effectively accelerate container cold-start by detecting the bottleneck layers as well as cold-start required layers and storing them into NVM for faster container startup with limited NVM capacity. Experimental results show that N-Docker can accelerate the container deployment by 1.21X and cold-start by 2.96X. Compared to NVM-Docker, which stores all images into NVM, N-Docker achieves the same performance improvements while reducing the usage of NVM by 88.22%. © 2019, IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

Traditional photodynamic therapy (PDT) is dependent on externally applied light and oxygen, and the depth of penetration of these factors can be insufficient for the treatment of deep infections. The short half-life and short diffusion distance of reactive oxygen species (ROS) also limit the antibacterial efficiency of PDT. Herein, we designed a targeting singlet oxygen delivery system, CARG-Py, for irradiation-free and oxygen-free PDT. This system was converted to the “singlet oxygen battery” CARG- 1 O 2 and released singlet oxygen without external irradiation or oxygen. CARG- 1 O 2 is composed of pyridones coupled to a targeting peptide that improves the utilization of singlet oxygen in deep multidrug-resistant bacterial infections. CARG- 1 O 2 was shown to damage DNA, protein, and membranes by increasing the level of reactive oxygen inside bacteria; the attacking of multiple biomolecular sites caused the death of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). An in vivo study in a MRSA-infected mouse model of pneumonia demonstrated the potential of CARG- 1 O 2 for the efficient treatment of deep infections. This work provides a new strategy to improve traditional PDT for irradiation- and oxygen-free treatment of deep infections while improving convenience of PDT.

Vehicle Location Algorithm Based on Federated Learning and Smart Phone in GNSS Low Sampling Rate Scene

In the existing vehicle positioning system based on Global Navigation Satellite System/Inertial Navigation System (GNSS/INS), when the GNSS signal is lost, the error accumulated by using only the INS will damage the positioning accuracy. In order to improve the accuracy, this paper proposed a positioning method based on data-driven and learning models, which utilized distributed data sets to collaboratively construct accurate positioning models through federated fusion algorithms without sacrificing user privacy. In the field scenarios of IID and Non-IID types, this paper compared the performance of INS and the existing two typical methods, DeepSense and PVAUA, it is verified that the two federated learning algorithm models constructed had higher positioning accuracy in different scenarios and different GNSS signal loss durations. The results were analyzed.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a disease with normal glucose tolerance before pregnancy and only diabetes during pregnancy. The discovery of GDM has a long history. The specific causes and mechanisms of its occurrence are still unclear. There is a lack of research on intelligent diagnosis of GDM. GDM has many adverse effects on pregnant women and fetuses, which is of great significance for the early diagnosis of GDM. Based on the measured data of the hospital, this paper realizes the intelligent diagnosis of GDM by using a improved KNN algorithm and a improved BP neural network. © 2019 IEEE.

Is heuristic sampling necessary in training deep object detectors?

To train accurate deep object detectors under the extreme foreground-background imbalance, heuristic sampling methods are always necessary, which either re-sample a subset of all training samples (hard sampling methods, e.g. biased sampling, OHEM), or use all training samples but re-weight them discriminatively (soft sampling methods, e.g. Focal Loss, GHM). In this paper, we challenge the necessity of such hard/soft sampling methods for training accurate deep object detectors. While previous studies have shown that training detectors without heuristic sampling methods would significantly degrade accuracy, we reveal that this degradation comes from an unreasonable classification gradient magnitude caused by the imbalance, rather than a lack of re-sampling/re-weighting. Motivated by our discovery, we propose a simple yet effective Sampling-Free mechanism to achieve a reasonable classification gradient magnitude by initialization and loss scaling. Unlike heuristic sampling methods with multiple hyperparameters, our Sampling-Free mechanism is fully data diagnostic, without laborious hyperparameters searching. We verify the effectiveness of our method in training anchor-based and anchor-free object detectors, where our method always achieves higher detection accuracy than heuristic sampling methods on COCO and PASCAL VOC datasets. We report the first detection of polarization angle (PA) orthogonal jumps, a phenomenon previously only observed from radio pulsars, from a fast radio burst (FRB) source FRB 20201124A. We find three cases of orthogonal jumps in over two thousand bursts, all resembling those observed in pulsar single pulses. We propose that the jumps are due to the superposition of two orthogonal emission modes that could only be produced in a highly magnetized plasma, and they are caused by the line of sight sweeping across a rotating magnetosphere. The shortest jump timescale is of the order of one-millisecond, which hints that the emission modes come from regions smaller than the light cylinder of most pulsars or magnetars. This discovery provides convincing evidence that FRB emission originates from the complex magnetosphere of a magnetar, suggesting an FRB emission mechanism that is analogous to radio pulsars despite a huge luminosity difference between two types of objects.
