Biomedical ontology matching aims at determining the heterogeneous biomed-ical concepts, and bridging the semantic gap between heterogeneous biomedical ontologies. The foundation of a biomedical ontology matching technique is the Biomedical Concept Similarity Measure (BCSM), which calculates the similarity value between two biomed-ical concepts. Since various BCSMs have different advantages, usually several BCSMs are aggregated together to improve the result’s confidence. How to tune the aggregating weights to ensure the quality of the alignment is called biomedical ontology meta-matching problem, which is a challenge in the ontology matching domain. Currently, researchers mainly focus on how to tune the aggregating weights for various similarity measures to improve the quality of the ontology alignments. However, the ignorance of the effects brought about by different biomedical concept mapping’s preference on different similarity measures significantly reduces the alignment’s quality. To overcome this drawback, in this work, we formally define the biomedical ontology meta-matching problem, and then present an Ordered Weighted Average (OWA) based approach to automatically aggregate various biomedical concept similarity measures. In our method, the aggregating weights determined for each concept mapping is associated with the ordered position of the similarity value instead of a particular concept similarity measure. The experiment utilizes the large biomed track provided by Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative (OAEI) to test our proposal’s performance, and the experimental results show the effectiveness of our proposal. © 2019, Taiwan Ubiquitous Information. Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming scientific research, including proteomics. Advances in mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics data quality, diversity, and scale, combined with groundbreaking AI techniques, are unlocking new challenges and opportunities in biological discovery. Here, we highlight key areas where AI is driving innovation, from data analysis to new biological insights. These include developing an AI-friendly ecosystem for proteomics data generation, sharing, and analysis;improving peptide and protein identification and quantification;characterizing protein-protein interactions and protein complexes;advancing spatial and perturbation proteomics;integrating multi-omics data;and ultimately enabling AI-empowered virtual cells. © 2025, CC BY.

Autonomous vehicles were experiencing rapid development in the past few years. However, achieving full autonomy is not a trivial task, due to the nature of the complex and dynamic driving environment. Therefore, autonomous vehicles are equipped with a suite of different sensors to ensure robust, accurate environmental perception. In particular, the camera-LiDAR fusion is becoming an emerging research theme. However, so far there has been no critical review that focuses on deep-learning-based camera-LiDAR fusion methods. To bridge this gap and motivate future research, this paper devotes to review recent deep-learning-based data fusion approaches that leverage both image and point cloud. This review gives a brief overview of deep learning on image and point cloud data processing. Followed by in-depth reviews of camera-LiDAR fusion methods in depth completion, object detection, semantic segmentation, tracking and online cross-sensor calibration, which are organized based on their respective fusion levels. Furthermore, we compare these methods on publicly available datasets. Finally, we identified gaps and over-looked challenges between current academic researches and real-world applications. Modern large-scale cloud platforms require live migration technique on Docker containers with stateful workload to support load balancing, host maintenance, and Quality of Service (QoS) improvement. Efficient and scalable Docker live migration is expected to guarantee the component-integrity (image, runtime, and management context) with negligible downtime. In this paper, we present a highly efficient live migration system called Sledge, which ensures the component-integrity by integrating both images and management context during runtime migration. The key insight is that the layered image can be leveraged to reduce the migration overhead, and appropriately selective migration of management context will effectively improve QoS with negligible downtime. To achieve good scalability, a lightweight container registry mechanism for end-to-end image migration is designed to avoid the redundant layers transmission. In addition, a dynamic context loading scheme is proposed to precisely load the management context into the running daemon, which can significantly reduce downtime. Experiments show that, compared with the state-of-the-art, Sledge reduces 57% of total migration time, 55% of image migration time, and 70% downtime.

Most existing lidar odometry estimation strategies are formulated under a standard framework that includes feature selection, and pose estimation through feature matching. In this work, we present a novel pipeline called LO-Net for lidar odometry estimation from 3D lidar scanning data using deep convolutional networks. The network is trained in an end-to-end manner, it infers 6-DoF poses from the encoded sequential lidar data. Based on the new designed mask-weighted geometric constraint loss, the network automatically learns effective feature representation for the lidar odometry estimation problem, and implicitly exploits the sequential dependencies and dynamics. Experiments on benchmark datasets demonstrate that LO-Net has similar accuracy with the geometry-based approach. © Authors 2019.

With the increasing of software complexity and user demands, collaborative service is becoming more and more popular. Each service focuses on its own specialty, their cooperation can support complicated task with high efficiency. To improve the resources utilization, virtualization technology like container is used and it enables multiple services running in the same physical machine. However, since the host physical machine is shared by several services, the resource competition is inevitable. Isolation is an effective solution, but the weak isolation mechanisms of container cannot handle such complicated scenarios. In the worst situation, the performance of services cannot meet the requirements and the system may crash. In order to solve this problem, we propose a priority-based optimization mechanism for I/O isolation after analyzing the characteristics of typical service workloads. Based on the real-time performance data, priority is automatically assigned to each service and corresponding optimization methods are applied. We evaluate the optimization effects of the priority-based mechanism in both static and dynamic workload cases, besides, the influence of different priority order is also analyzed. The experimental results show that our approach can indeed improve the system performance and guarantee the requirements of all the running services are satisfied. © 2019, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering.

This study investigated the dynamic changes in NiFe (hydr)oxide and identified the role of high-valent Fe in the oxygen-evolution reaction (OER) within alkaline media via in situ techniques. Several high-valent Fe ions were found to remain considerably stable in the absence of potential in NiFe (hydr)oxide, even 96 hours after the OER. For Ni 2+ hydroxide treated with 57 Fe ions, where Fe sites are introduced onto the surface of Ni 2+ hydroxide, no Fe 4+ species were detected at the rate-determining step (RDS). The findings of this study suggested that the oxidation of bulk Fe ions, similar to Ni ions, to high valent forms, is charge accumulation without a direct role in OER; these results offered a novel perspective on manipulating Fe states to optimize OER efficacy. The prevailing hypothesis suggested that trace amounts of high-valent Fe ions, notably those on the surface, directly participate in OER.

Deep auto-encoders (DAEs) have achieved great success in learning data representations via the powerful representability of neural networks. But most DAEs only focus on the most dominant structures which are able to reconstruct the data from a latent space and neglect rich latent structural information. In this work, we propose a new representation learning method that explicitly models and leverages sample relations, which in turn is used as supervision to guide the representation learning. Different from previous work, our framework well preserves the relations between samples. Since the prediction of pairwise relations themselves is a fundamental problem, our model adaptively learns them from data. This provides much flexibility to encode real data manifold. The important role of relation and representation learning is evaluated on the clustering task. Extensive experiments on benchmark data sets demonstrate the superiority of our approach. By seeking to embed samples into subspace, we further show that our method can address the large-scale and out-of-sample problem. Our source code is publicly available at: https://***/nbShawnLu/RGRL. Geo-spatial ontologies can provide a formal description of concepts, relationships, activities, features and rules in GIS domain. However, simply use them only allows to partially solve semantic conflicts, and does not completely solve heterogeneity issues that are caused by themselves. Geo-spatial ontology matching technique can find the correspondences between semantic identical entities, and solve the heterogeneous problem between two geo-spatial ontologies. Be inspired by the successful application of Evolutionary Algorithm (EA) in instance matching domain, in this paper, it is utilized to match the heterogeneous geo-spatial ontologies. To reduce the runtime and memory consumption required by EA, a compact version of it is presented, which does not work on the whole population but a probability representation on it. In addition, a geo-spatial similarity measure is presented to determine the identical geo-spatial entities, and an optimal model is constructed for geo-spatial ontology matching problem. The experimental results show that cEA-based geo-spatial ontology matching technique can efficiently determine the alignment. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.
