Over the recent years, ontologies are widely used in the biomedical domains. However, biomedical ontology heterogeneity problem hamper the cooperation between intelligent applications based on biomedical ontologies. It is crucial to establish correspondences between the heterogeneous biomedical concepts in different ontologies, which is so-called biomedical ontology matching. Approaches based on Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm (MOEA), such as NSGA-II, are emerging as a new methodology to solve the ontology matching problem. In this paper, to further improve the quality of biomedical ontology alignments, a hybrid NSGA-II is proposed, which modifies the knee solutions in the Pareto front by using a local search method. Experiment utilizes two biomedical ontology matching tracks provided by Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative (OAEI 2017). The experimental results show that our approach outperforms the participants of OAEI 2017 and NSGA-II based ontology matching technique. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

This paper investigates the age of information (AoI) for a radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting (EH) enabled network, where a sensor first scavenges energy from a wireless power station and then transmits the collected status update to a sink node. To capture the thirst for the fresh update becoming more and more urgent as time elapsing, urgency-aware AoI (U-AoI) is defined, which increases exponentially with the increment of time between two received updates. Due to EH, a waiting time is required at the sensor before transmitting the status update. An optimization problem is formulated to minimize the long-term average U-AoI under constraint of energy causality. A two-layer algorithm is presented to solve it, where the outer loop is designed based on Dinklebach's method, and the inner loop presents a semi-closed-form expression of the optimal waiting time policy based on Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) optimality conditions. Numerical results show that our proposed optimal transmission policy outperforms the zero time waiting policy and equal time waiting policy in terms of long-term average U-AoI, especially when the networks are in slight load. It also shows that the system U-AoI first decreases and then keeps unchanged with the increments of EH circuit's saturation level. © 2019 IEEE.

The existing single-pulse search algorithms for fast radio bursts (FRBs) do not adequately consider the frequency bandpass pattern of the pulse, rendering them incomplete for the relatively narrow-spectrum detection of pulses. We present a new search algorithm for narrow-band pulses to update the existing standard pipeline, Bandpass-Adaptive Single-pulse SEarch Toolkit (BASSET). The BASSET employs a time-frequency correlation analysis to identify and remove the noise involved by the zero-detection frequency band, thereby enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the pulses. The BASSET algorithm was implemented on the FAST real dataset of FRB 20190520B, resulting in the discovery of additional 79 pulses through reprocessing. The new detection doubles the number of pulses compared to the previously known 75 pulses, bringing the total number of pulses to 154. In conjunction with the pulse calibration and the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) simulated injection experiments, this work updates the quantified parameter space of the detection rate. Moreover, a parallel-accelerated version of the BASSET code was provided and evaluated through simulation. BASSET has the capacity of enhancing the detection sensitivity and the SNR of the narrow-band pulses from the existing pipeline, offering high performance and flexible applicability. BASSET not only enhances the completeness of the low-energy narrow-band pulse detection in a more robust mode, but also has the potential to further elucidate the FRB luminosity function at a wider energy scale. Epilepsy is a neural disorder with the hallmark of recurrent seizures. To characterize the epileptic brain electrical activities, we employed the cross modulation of instantaneous amplitudes and frequencies to separate synchronous and anti-synchronous modulation. Amplitude-amplitude, amplitude-frequency and frequency-frequency cross modulation were adopted to analyse the difference between EEG signal of epileptic patients and that of normal people. By comparing the observed patterns with two groups of EEG signals we demonstrate that the cross-modulation exponentials at the temporal region and the occipital region of right hemisphere are significant different. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Epilepsy is caused by abnormal brain nerves. In order to analyze the similarities and differences of EEG signals between patients with epilepsy and normal people, this paper introduced a cross modulation algorithm. This paper analyzed the correlation between amplitude and frequency between EEG signals in various parts of the brain. The approach overcomes the limitation to complexity of the algorithm and found abnormalities in EEG signals of temporal lobe and occipital lobe. © VDE VERLAG GMBH · Berlin · Offenbach.

Single-relation factoid question answering (QA) is strongly supported by rich sources of facts from knowledge bases (KB). However, there are many irrelevant information in questions and overwhelming number of facts in knowledge bases, making it difficult to capture goal entity and relation involved in a question. In order to settle these issues, firstly, a state-of-the-art sequence tagging model (BiLSTM-CRF) is adopted to detect the entity mention in a question. Then, we propose a n-gram match (NGM) algorithm with Chinese-specific rules and an attention-based siamese bidirectional long-short term memory (ASBLSTM) model to measure the lexical and semantic similarity between questions and candidate facts. Our whole method requires no hand-crafted template or feature engineering. In addition, character-level models are proved to be effective in solving the out of vocabulary (OOV) issue and improving the accuracy in Chinese KBQA task. Experiment results show that our system outperforms the best system with deep learning models in the KBQA share task of the Conference on Natural Language Processing and Chinese Computing (NLPCC) 2016 and our system achieves an AverageF1 measure of 80.97% and 37.18% on test dataset in NLPCC 2016 and 2017 respectively. © 2017 IEEE.

A sulfhydryl monomicelles interfacial assembly strategy is presented for the synthesis of fully exposed single-atom-layer Pt clusters on 2D mesoporous TiO 2 (SAL-Pt@mTiO 2 ) nanosheets. This synthesis features the introduction of the sulfhydryl group in monomicelles to finely realize the controllable co-assembly process of Pt precursors within ordered mesostructures. The resultant SAL-Pt@mTiO 2 shows uniform SAL Pt clusters (≈1.2 nm) anchored in ultrathin 2D nanosheets (≈7 nm) with a high surface area (139 m 2 g −1 ), a large pore size (≈25 nm) and a high dispersion (≈99 %). Moreover, this strategy is universal for the synthesis of other SAL metal clusters (Pd and Au) on 2D mTiO 2 with high exposure and accessibility. When used as a catalyst for hydrogenation of 4-nitrostyrene, the SAL-Pt@mTiO 2 shows a high catalytic activity (TOF up to 2424 h −1 ), 100 % selectivity for 4-aminostyrene, good stability, and anti-resistance to thiourea poisoning under relatively mild conditions (25 °C, 10 bar).

Globular clusters harbor numerous millisecond pulsars, but long-period pulsars (P 100 ms) are rarely found. In this study, we employed a fast folding algorithm to analyze observational data from multiple globular clusters obtained by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), aiming to detect the existence of long-period pulsars. We estimated the impact of the median filtering algorithm in eliminating red noise on the minimum detectable flux density (Smin) of pulsars. Subsequently, we successfully discovered two isolated long-period pulsars in M15 with periods approximately equal to 1.928451 seconds and 3.960716 seconds, respectively. On the P − P diagram, both pulsars are positioned below the spin-up line, suggesting a possible history of partial recycling in X-ray binary systems disrupted by dynamical encounters later on. According to timing results, these two pulsars exhibit remarkably strong magnetic fields. If the magnetic fields were weakened during the accretion process, then a short duration of accretion might explain the strong magnetic fields of these pulsars. © 2023, CC BY.

Multi-view adaptive fusion network for 3D object detection

3D object detection based on LiDAR-camera fusion is becoming an emerging research theme for autonomous driving. However, it has been surprisingly difficult to effectively fuse both modalities without information loss and interference. To solve this issue, we propose a single-stage multi-view fusion framework that takes LiDAR Birds-Eye View, LiDAR Range View and Camera View images as inputs for 3D object detection. To effectively fuse multi-view features, we propose an Attentive Pointwise Fusion (APF) module to estimate the importance of the three sources with attention mechanisms which can achieve adaptive fusion of multi-view features in a pointwise manner. Besides, an Attentive Pointwise Weighting (APW) module is designed to help the network learn structure information and point feature importance with two extra tasks: foreground classification and center regression, and the predicted foreground probability will be used to reweight the point features. We design an end-to-end learnable network named MVAF-Net to integrate these two components. Our evaluations conducted on the KITTI 3D object detection datasets demonstrate that the proposed APF and APW module offer significant performance gain and that the proposed MVAF-Net achieves state-of-the-art performance in the KITTI benchmark.
