Brief paper: controller dynamic linearisation-based model-free adaptive control framework for a class of non-linear system

Without the explicit process identification, the authors propose a model-free adaptive control framework for unknown plant by using the concept of equivalent dynamic linearisation controller. The controller has linear incremental structure and its local dynamics is equivalent to the ideal controller in theory. Hence, the problem of determining the structure of candidate controller is transformed to the problem of finding a sequence of local dynamic controllers to approximate the ideal controller. With the help of gradient information extracted from input and output (I/O) data of the plant, the optimal controller parameter sequence is generated by minimising a user-defined control criterion. This method gives a solution on how to determine the candidate controller structure. The controller design, parameter tuning and controller validation are based on I/O data of the plant. Hence, it could reduce the influence of internal disturbance or unmodelled dynamics. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated by the simulation of a continuous polymerisation reaction process in a jacketed continuous stirred tank reactor system. Meanwhile, a simulation comparison is carried out to show the superiority of neural network data model in model-free adaptive control framework. © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2015.

This paper focuses on performance improvements of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) vector control. In this paper, a novel second order sliding mode control (SOSMC) algorithm is presented to accomplish velocity control of the PMSM. The integral manifold is utilized to avoid noise signals being amplified because of the acceleration information in control system, and the second order sliding mode control law is achieved by a Lyapunov function approach. The novel method can successfully eliminate the system chattering problem and improve the performance of the PMSM control system, such as fast response, high robustness and tracking speed performance. Meanwhile, an anti-windup control method is used to solve the problem of the windup phenomenon of the PMSM control system. The experimental results show that the proposed method is feasible and effective and is capable of controlling the permanent magnet synchronous motor. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2013.

Tracking the movement of droplets in digital microfluidics is essential to improve its control stability and obtain dynamic information for its applications such as point-of-care testing,environment monitoring and chemical ***,an intelligent,accurate and fast droplet tracking method based on machine vision is developed for applications of digital *** continuously recognize the transparent droplets in real-time and avoid the interferes from background patterns or inhomogeneous illumination,we introduced the correlation filter tracker,enabling online learning of the multi-features of the droplets in Fourier *** show the proposed droplet tracking method could accurately locate the *** also demonstrated the capacity of the proposed method for estimation of the droplet velocity as faster as 20 mm/s,and its application in online monitoring the Griess reaction for both colorimetric assay of nitrite and study of reaction kinetics.

In order to solve the problems of poor real-time performance and single display method in traditional unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) orthographic image mosaic, this paper proposes a real-time updating technology of local area orthoimages based on 3D digital earth, which can be widely used in the fields of emergency rescue, environmental monitoring and military *** technology is that in the process of UAV aerial photography, the server receives sequence aerial image in real time and synchronously completes orthographic image splicing, then automatically cuts them into regular image tiles and transmits the regular image tiles to the display terminal in an incremental manner. The display terminal software constructs a 3D digital earth based on quadtree LOD algorithm, and updates the terrain texture of the target range with the received high-definition orthographic image tiles, so as to realize real-time coverage monitoring of key areas. In this paper, the above work is verified by real aerial images, and the results prove the feasibility and effectiveness of the work. © 2020 ACM.

A three dimensional vision sensing system was used to mimic the human vision system to observe the three-dimensional weld pool surface in pipe Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process. Novel characteristic parameters containing information about the penetration state specified by its back-side weld pool width and height were proposed based on the reconstructed three dimensional weld pool surfaces. In order to obtain the penetration status in real time conveniently, a neural network model was established to estimate the penetration based on the proposed characteristic parameters. It was found that the top-side characteristic parameters proposed can reflect the back-side weld pool parameters accurately and the neural network is capable of predicting the penetration status in real time by observing the three-dimensional weld pool surface which is beneficial for penetration control of GTAW process. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2013.

Hydrocracking is a catalytic cracking process for the conversion of heavy oil fractions, such as vacuum gas oil (VGO), into valuable products with lower boiling point, such as diesel, kerosene and gasoline. Due to the flexibility of the process, high yields and good quality of liquid products, hydrocracking has become an important unit in modern refinery. However, the study of kinetic modelling towards hydrocracking reactor (HCR) is limited due to its complicated reaction mechanism. In this study, the reactor model is established based on a new six-lump model considering the velocity change along the reactor, different thermal effects and kinetic differences between hydrotreater (HT) and hydrocracker (HC). Compared with the previously reported lumped kinetic models, the fine-tuned model (calibrated by differential evolution algorithm) can predict products yields more accurately, in particular outlet temperature of each beds and the detailed yields and temperature distribution along with the reactor beds. The proposed lump based kinetic model can be applied to the optimization and control of industrial hydrocracking process. © 2017, AIDIC Servizi S.r.l.

Color night-vision technology increases the representation ability of monochrome night-vision imagery by adding color to it, making observers’ understanding easier. Usually the color night-vision methods require the infrared and the low-light-level images at the same time, which hinders their application in the environment where totally without light or covered by heavy rain and thick fogs. To expand the application area of color night-vision technology, we propose a quickly colorization method based only on single band infrared video, which can provide all weather condition working. This method only requires a few pixels to be manually set with chrome values, and then the entire frame as well as the following frame sequence is automatically colorized. Experiments show that the colorization results are satisfactory and the algorithm is running fast. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

Measurement data usually do not reflect actual chemical processes correctly because of inevitable errors in measurement, which is known as unbalance of measurement data. Data reconciliation and gross error detection are methods of processing measuring instruments that are inconsistent with mass and energy balances. At present, research on data reconciliation mainly focuses on the steady state model of the linear system. However, data reconciliation cannot be implemented in cases of sudden changes in production conditions, operations or instability, or discontinuous data acquisition. An improved Bayesian based on wavelet package denoising for data reconciliation is proposed. After a measurement signal is decomposed into a certain level, the optimal tree is selected with Bayesian classification. Bayesian classification was used to select the node of the optimal tree that would accelerate the calculation speed. The simulation and the coking chemical application show that the improved denoising method contributes to the effectiveness and efficiency of data reconciliation. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
