Until now, the canonical correlation analysis(CCA)-based method has been most widely applied to steady-state visual evoked potential(SSVEP). Artificial sine-cosine signals are used as the original references in the CCA method, which could hardly reflect the real SSVEP features buried in electroencephalogram(EEG). In this study, we use principal component analysis(PCA) to extract EEG features multivariate linear regression(MLR) is implemented on EEG and the specific sample labels. Experimental results show that the proposed MLR method outperformed other two competing methods for SSVEP recognition, especially in short time window.

Brain-computer interface(BCI) plays an important role in helping the people with severe motor disability. In event-related potential(ERP) based BCIs, subjects were asked to count the target stimulus in the offline experiment, the recorded electroencephalogram(EEG) data was used to train the classification mode. However, subjects may make mistakes in counting the target stimulus or be affected by the non-target stimulus. The target trials may not contain expected ERPs and the non-target trials may contain unexpected ERPs, which was called error samples. This paper intends to survey whether the classification accuracy could be improved after removing these error samples from offline training data. The result showed that the online performance of BCI system could be improved after selecting the offline samples for training the classification mode.

A discrete artificial bee colony algorithm is proposed for solving the blocking flow shop scheduling problem with total flow time criterion. Firstly, the solution in the algorithm is represented as job permutation. Secondly, an initialization scheme based on a variant of the NEH heuristic and a local search is designed to construct the initial population with both quality and diversity. Thirdly, based on the idea of iterated greedy algorithm, some newly designed schemes for employed bee, onlooker bee and scout bee are presented. The performance of the proposed algorithm is tested on the well-known Taillard benchmark set, and computational results demonstrate the effectiveness of the discrete artificial bee colony algorithm. In addition, the best known solutions of the benchmark set are provided for the blocking flow shop scheduling problem with total flow time criterion.

The gaze-independent brain-computer interface (BCI) based on rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) is an extension of the oddball paradigm, and can facilitate communication for people with severe neuromuscular disorders. Recently, some researches showed that the gaze-independent BCIs based on RSVP used dummy face pictures as stimuli obtained high performance. However, the user' fatigue wasn't be fully considered. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce users' fatigue and to further improve the performance of them. Some studies suggested that face elicited high event related potential (ERP) were mediated by the eye region. That is, face with only eyes region could evoke as high ERPs as completed face. In this paper, an improved paradigm was presented which used dummy face with only eyes region as stimulus. Ten healthy subjects participated in our experiment. Compared with the complete dummy face stimulus, the results showed that the dummy face with only eyes region stimulus could evoke higher N200 and VPP amplitudes. Results from users' feedback also showed the dummy face with only eyes region pattern made them more relaxed.

Focusing on ethylene oxide (EO) hydration reactor industrial equipment, the reaction mechanism model is established. Based on the principle of material balance, energy balance and kinetics of the reactions of ethylene oxide with water, partial least squares regression (PLSR) was used in the model to establish a corresponding relationship between the reaction rate constant and the reaction temperature. With kinetic parameters correction by using field data, the results are more tallies with the actual operation. Influences of water/EO molar ratio and inlet temperature on product quality, outlet temperature and energy consumption are analyzed according to the established model. The results showed that the model can preferably reflect the performance of EO hydration reactor and have certain guidance functions to the further advancedcontrol strategies.
