Free lime (f-Cao) content is the key quality indicator in the control and optimization of cement calcination process. However, the cement process has many complex characteristics including large noise, time delay, nonlinearity, and time-varying system. To cope with the above characteristics, this study proposes just-in-time (JIT) learning with empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and database monitoring index (DMI) for free lime prediction. At first, EMD and Savitzky-Golay (S-G) filter can effectively deal with process large noise. Meanwhile, weighted time series analysis and mutual information are used to estimate large time delay. Then, least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) based on JIT and DMI is employed to solve the problems of process nonlinearity and time variation. The proposed strategy is validated on practical data from a cement plant.

The ethylene cracking furnace system convert a variety of hydrocarbon feeds into products such as ethylene and propylene in parallel. During the cracking process, the coke produced by the cracking will degrade the performance of the cracking furnace, so the furnace should be cleaned periodically. Scheduling of the cracking furnace system involves various raw materials, multiple furnaces, and multiple constraints, so it is a difficult mathematic programming problem. Previous studies have simplified the optimization model to obtain a corresponding mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model. In order to make the scheduling more suitable for the actual process, this paper develops the transfer-line exchanger (TLE) model, fuel consumption model, and super-high pressure steam (SS) model by using the actual plant data. A case study is put forward to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The performance of robust adaptive control system based on traditional revised algorithm is awful in the presence of unmodeled dynamics and the performance will go bad, even be unstable, when the working condition (including the parameter, reference input, and so on) change. This paper designs the multiple models robust adaptive controller to control the discrete single-variable non-minimum phase system. First, the higher part of the system is deem to be the unmodelled dynamic and the normalization is introduced to convert the system unmodeled dynamics to bounded disturbance as well as the dead zone is introduced in parameter update algorithm. And then, the multiple models robust adaptive controllers are designed based on the lower part of the system and the best controller is chosen based on the switch index to control the system. The last simulation illustrates that the proposed method is preferable even the working condition changes.

Industrial gas leakage in chemical plants presents a high risk to health and safety, also makes a huge waste of production materials. In this paper, we propose an automatic gas segmentation method for optical gas imaging (OGI) videos, which can not only indicate the existence of leakage in frames but also show the precise locations and shapes of gas plumes. Specifically, we propose a novel video segmentation network that stacks 2D spatial convolutions, 1D temporal convolutions and 3D spatial-temporal convolutions together within an encoder-decoder structure, termed 2.5D-Unet. Stacking mixed convolutions increases the representation ability of network for leakage's appearance and motion. More importantly, stacking mixed convolutions facilitates pre-training of model using still images of smoke, which is especially useful when lacking of labeled videos of leaked gas. Experimental results show, for OGI video-based gas leakage segmentation, our method outperforms existing video segmentation methods.

This paper addresses the H ∞ filtering problem for networked control systems with quantization and multiple packet dropouts. The effects of measurement channel and control channel quantization as well as packet dropouts are considered simultaneously due to limited communication capacity and unreliable communication links. Stochastic variables satisfying the Bernoulli random binary distribution are utilized to model the multiple packet dropouts. Sufficient conditions are proposed such that the filtering error system is exponentially mean-square stable while the H ∞ disturbance rejection attenuation constraint is satisfied. Then, the explicit expression of the desired filter gains is described in terms of the solution to linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a numerical example is employed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed filter design approach.

In this paper, we consider the security problem of opinion dynamics in attack-defense environment in social networks. First, we propose an opinion dynamics model, which is composed by attackers, defenders and the masses. In the proposed model, a set of attackers controlled by the agent with hostile opinion sends malicious opinion to their neighbors with a certain probability, and the defenders are activated by the agent with right opinion at a triggering time to lead the opinions of the masses to a safe zone. Second, we provide a sufficient condition to ensure the convergence of the expected opinions of the system. We also give the method to seek a lower bound of the opinions spread by the defenders at each time step while keeping the opinions in safe situation. Finally, we provide a numerical example to verify the main results.

A new method was developed for batch process monitoring in this paper. In the devdopad method, just-in-time learning ( JITL ) and independent component analysis (ICA) were integrated to build JITL-ICA monitoring scheme. JITL was employed to tackle with the characteristics of batch process such as inherent time- varying dynamics, multiple operating phases, and especially the case of uneven length stage. According to new coming test data, the most correlated segmentation was obtained from batch-wise unfolded training data by JITL. Then, ICA served as the principal components extraction approach. Therefore, the *** distributed data can also be addressed under this modeling framework. The effectiveness and superiority of JITL-ICA based monitoring method was demonstrated by fed-batch penicillin fermentation.
