As a connective tissue connecting teeth and alveolar bone, periodontal ligament (PDL) has the mechanical properties of nonlinearity, viscoelasticity, anisotropy. In this paper, the pig mandibular central incisors were taken as subjects, a loading machine(CARE-MI00) was used to perform compression tests and the PDL stress-relaxation characteristics under different strain conditions were obtained. The stress-time curves and the relaxation modulus curves were obtained. The three-parameters Zener model and five-parameter generalized Maxwell model proposed by the author were used to fit the data. The experimental results show that the elastic modulus of PDL decreases gradually in the apex(ranges from 2.64 to 3.06 MPa), cervical margin(ranges from 1.44 to 1.76 MPa) and midroot (ranges from 1.03 to 1. 06MPa). Zener model has a relatively high fitting degree, and the squared correction coefficient is about 0.98, however, the adjusted R square of the five-parameter model was above 0.99. Compared with the Zener model, the five-parameter model can better reflect the sudden drop of relaxation modulus at the initial stage, which is more suitable for describing stress-relaxation in viscoelastic behavior of PDL. The advantage of this paper is to compare the descriptive ability of three-parameter and five-parameter generalized Maxwell equation to the mechanical properties of PDL and to provide an effective procedure for the preparation of PDL specimens. © 2019 IEEE.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials with giant nonlinear optical (NLO) responses are essential for the development of advanced on-chip NLO devices. Using first-principles calculations, we predict a remarkable strain-induced enhancement of second-harmonic generation (SHG) in the high-performance 2D semiconductors Bi2O2X (X = S, Se, Te). The SHG susceptibilities of Bi2O2X under strain are on the order of 1 nm/V, rivaling the highest values reported among 2D materials. This giant SHG response originates from gauge-invariant geometric quantities, including the quantum metric, the shift vector, and the triple phase product. The strain also induces a band-gap variation in Bi2O2X. Intriguingly, in Bi2O2Te, strain-induced band-gap tuning drives a transition from a semiconductor to a half-metal, and ultimately to a polar metal. Our findings present a unique platform that combines strain-tunable band-gap engineering with exceptional NLO properties, while also highlighting the crucial role of quantum geometry in enhancing SHG.

The development of VR (virtual reality) technology has greatly promoted immersion, but it may cause people to worry about the safety of humans. This study aims to determine the effect of virtual reality based on 9D-VR seat (9 Dimension VR Seat) on the physiological response of users. Recruit 20 volunteers to experience the VR roller coaster and VR big pendulum. Through analysis of heart rate data with visualization and statistical, it is found that there is a significant effect on heart rate when users experience virtual reality, and the excitement points of the VR content were related to the changes in heart rate. Further, we found that the difference between the first experience and the second experience for the same VR content, and the changes in heart rate have eased. These findings provide references for the analysis of users for VR and the design of content of the VR.

Exploiting interpretable patterns for flow prediction in dockless bike sharing systems

Unlike the traditional dock-based systems, dockless bike-sharing systems are more convenient for users in terms of flexibility. However, the flexibility of these dockless systems comes at the cost of management and operation complexity. Indeed, the imbalanced and dynamic use of bikes leads to mandatory rebalancing operations, which impose a critical need for effective bike traffic flow prediction. While efforts have been made in developing traffic flow prediction models, existing approaches lack interpretability, and thus have limited value in practical deployment. To this end, we propose an Interpretable Bike Flow Prediction (IBFP) framework, which can provide effective bike flow prediction with interpretable traffic patterns. Specifically, by dividing the urban area into regions according to flow density, we first model the spatio-temporal bike flows between regions with graph regularized sparse representation, where graph Laplacian is used as a smooth operator to preserve the commonalities of the periodic data structure. Then, we extract traffic patterns from bike flows using subspace clustering with sparse representation to construct interpretable base matrices. Moreover, the bike flows can be predicted with the interpretable base matrices and learned parameters. Finally, experimental results on real-world data show the advantages of the IBFP method for flow prediction in dockless bike sharing systems. In addition, the interpretability of our flow pattern exploitation is further illustrated through a case study where IBFP provides valuable insights into bike flow analysis. Cell-type composition analysis of scRNA-seq data with deep convolution neural network

Background: With the rapid development of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), more large-scale single-cell sequencing data has been generated. Due to the continuous increase of single-cell sequencing data, the analysis of cell-type composition from single-cell transcriptomics has also to face huge challenges. Since the emergence of scRNA-seq technology, the size of sequencing datasets has grown more than 1 million times in just over a decade. Meanwhile, as more gene markers are discovered, the data dimension of single-cell sequencing becomes higher. All of these put forward more stringent requirements on data dimensionality reduction and clustering algorithms. Under the constraints of practical factors such as occurrence of noise and dropouts and the limitation of overhead, it is also required an effective and efficient method that can obtain accurate analysis results in a very short time, and has a competitive algorithm stability. Results: We present scCAE, an effective and efficient method based on convolution autoencoder that can accurately and rapidly analyze cell-type composition from single-cell transcriptomics datasets. Our method achieved the best results in the data sets that simulate the cell differentiation process among existing methods, which achieved the ARI of 69.64% and 68.83% at 10 and 25 clusters tasks. And, in the case of different dropouts, our method also works well. When the sparsity level of data metric is 71%, scCAE can achieved the ARI of 45.29%, which is the highest of the existing methods. In terms of algorithm overhead, our method has also achieved good results by comparing with several existing methods. It takes less time than most methods and takes up much less memory than other algorithms based neural networks. Conclusions: Our method, scCAE, has more accurate and reasonable results in the analysis of cell-types composition. Term translation of Chinese historical classics is very difficult and time-consuming work,and using term alignment methods to extract term translation pairs is of great help for historical term ***,the limited bilingual corpora resources of historical classics and special morphology of the ancient Chinese result in poor performance of term *** this end,this paper proposes a historical term alignment method using modern Chinese as a pivot *** method first identifies English terms by rules,then aligns them from English to modern Chinese and then from modern Chinese to ancient *** use of English-modern Chinese corpus and modern-ancient Chinese corpus instead of English-ancient Chinese corpus solves the shortage problem of the parallel ***,using modern Chinese as a pivot language effectively reduces the alignment errors caused by the abbreviations and the interchangeable characters of ancient *** the term alignment experiment on Shiji,our method outperformed the direct alignment method significantly,which proves the validity of our method.

This paper proposes a novel approach for distributed finite-time event-triggered consensus control of multi-agent systems over directed graphs. In the proposed approach, a potential function is introduced in the control protocol design and a dynamic external variable with a finite-time convergence rate is involved in the construction of triggering thresholds. By using the proposed approach, finite-time consensus can be achieved in a fully distributed manner and the Zeno behavior is ruled out in the framework of finite-time event-triggered consensus. The proposed approach does not need global information and only a directed spanning tree is required for the underlying communication graph. Additionally, the requirement on continuous communication for controller updates or triggering detection is removed. Finally, an example is given to show the feasibility of the proposed approach.

Cyber-Physical-Social Systems (CPSS) provides a novel perspective for constructing “Smart City”, which is also known as the Human-Machine-Things-System (HMTS), focusing on the fusion of ternary space: social network of human society, network of machines and the Internet of things. In this paper, we propose a specific implementation framework of CPSS for Smart City based on intelligent loops, including basic modeling and interactive fusion, state perception and cognition, and adaptive learning. On this basis, an overall architecture of the CPSS platform is designed, which is applied in the urban transportation management in Hangzhou. The application results demonstrate that the intelligent loop could optimize the control and management strategies for actual urban transportation.

Interlayer phononic energy dissipation in the friction of graphene layers

The mechanism of frictional energy dissipation holds notable importance in understanding the physical origins of nanofriction. Here, combining atomic force microscopy and Raman analysis, we confirm the important role of layer breathing modes in the layer-dependent frictional energy dissipation process of graphene layers. Then the LOZO' mode is resonantly enhanced to elucidate the relationship between layer breathing modes and frictional energy dissipation from the perspective of phonon lifetime. The results indicate that phonon lifetime increases with the number of graphene layers, which is consistent with the increased stiffness and re-adjust configuration capability in thicker graphene stacks. Our findings provide compelling experimental evidence for the phononic energy dissipation in the friction of graphene layers, enhancing the understanding of dynamic dissipation processes at frictional interfaces.

Collaborative Optimization of Cyber Physical Social Systems for Urban Transportation Based on Knowledge Automation

The integration of signals from physical, social and cyber spaces, known as Cyber-Physical-Social systems (CPSS), is a new research paradigm for urban transportation, where the traffic control and management (C&M) is collaborative optimized among the three sub-systems. Though some technologies and optimization methods have been studied since its proposition, there is a lack of a systemic architecture as well as an overall implementation about how to efficiently exploit the social signals. For this reason, this paper proposes a general framework of CPSS for urban transportation and presents a feasible solution for traffic optimization based on knowledge automation. The specific implementation includes basic modeling of CPSS, knowledge evolution and reasoning, and collaborative optimization of C&P strategies. As a remarkable highlight, the influence of both individual activities and social learning is concerned during knowledge evolution and reasoning part. A case study from the application in the city of Dongguan is also given to validate our proposed framework and methods, showing that they can efficiently improve the average speed of the actual transportation.
