Adaptive disentangled target representation for unsupervised domain adaptation in remote sensing segmentation

Due to the significant differences between the source and target domains, semantic segmentation models for remote sensing images trained on the source domain often struggle to generalize effectively to new target domains, leading to performance degradation. Most solutions disentangle features into domain-invariant features shared by both domains and domain-specific features unique to each domain, relying primarily on the domain-invariant features for model construction and inference. However, during this process, critical domain-specific features as essential information are often discarded as noise, leading to a reduction in segmentation accuracy. To address these issues, this study proposes an unsupervised domain adaptation, called ChameleonRS. ChameleonRS separates the domain-invariant features and the domain-specific features by disentanglement learning, and introduces a multi-level feature alignment module to enhance the representation of domain-invariant features. More importantly, it aligns predictions based on domain-invariant features with those based on fused invariant and specific features using contrastive learning, effectively capturing target-specific features. This study explores two cross-domain semantic segmentation tasks: (I) Geographic location variation. (II) Geographic location and imaging mode variation. Results show that under setting (I), ChameleonRS outperforms the state-of-the-art method by 4.79% in Intersection over Union (IoU) and 6.51% in the F1 score. Under setting (II), it achieves improvements of 4.46% and 4.82% in IoU and F1 score. Results demonstrate the superiority and adaptability of ChameleonRS under varying geographical and imaging conditions, effectively mitigating the generalization issues caused by distribution differences, and thereby promoting the development and application of remote sensing technologies in practical scenarios. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Movable antenna (MA) has been recognized as a promising technology to enhance the performance of wireless communication and sensing by enabling antenna movement. Such a significant paradigm shift from conventional fixed antennas (FAs) to MAs offers tremendous new opportunities towards realizing more versatile, adaptive and efficient next-generation wireless networks such as 6G. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive tutorial on the fundamentals and advancements in the area of MA-empowered wireless networks. First, we overview the historical development and contemporary applications of MA technologies. Next, to characterize the continuous variation in wireless channels with respect to antenna position and/or orientation, we present new field-response channel models tailored for MAs, which are applicable to narrowband and wideband systems as well as far-field and near-field propagation conditions. Subsequently, we review the state-of-the-art architectures for implementing MAs and discuss their practical constraints. A general optimization framework is then formulated to fully exploit the spatial degrees of freedom (DoFs) in antenna movement for performance enhancement in wireless systems. In particular, we delve into two major design issues for MA systems. First, we address the intricate antenna movement optimization problem for various communication and/or sensing systems to maximize the performance gains achievable by MAs. Second, we deal with the challenging channel acquisition issue in MA systems for reconstructing the channel mapping between arbitrary antenna positions inside the transmitter and receiver regions. Moreover, we show existing prototypes developed for MA-aided communication/sensing and the experimental results based on them. Finally, the extension of MA design to other wireless systems and its synergy with other emerging wireless technologies are discussed. Commit messages are natural language descriptions of code changes, which are important for software evolution such as code understanding and maintenance. However, previous methods are trained on the entire dataset without considering the fact that a portion of commit messages adhere to good practice (i.e., good-practice commits), while the rest do not. On the basis of our empirical study, we discover that training on good-practice commits significantly contributes to the commit message generation. Motivated by this finding, we propose a novel knowledge-aware denoising learning method called KADEL. Considering that good-practice commits constitute only a small proportion of the dataset, we align the remaining training samples with these good-practice commits. To achieve this, we propose a model that learns the commit knowledge by training on good-practice commits. This knowledge model enables supplementing more information for training samples that do not conform to good practice. However, since the supplementary information may contain noise or prediction errors, we propose a dynamic denoising training method. This method composes a distribution-aware confidence function and a dynamic distribution list, which enhances the effectiveness of the training process. Experimental results on the whole MCMD dataset demonstrate that our method overall achieves state-of-the-art performance compared with previous methods. © 2024, CC BY.

In order to forecast Short-Term Load Forecast (STLF) for individual electric customers and then intelligently and flexibly utilize renewable energy, a big data framework is proposed that collects the data from smart meters and weather forecasting, pre-processes and loads it into a NoSQL database that is capable to store and further process large volumes of heterogeneous data. Then, a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) recurrent neural network is designed and implemented to determine the load profiles and forecast the electricity consumption for residential community for the next 24 hours. The proposed framework is tested with a publicly available smart meter dataset of a residential community, of which LSTM’s performance is compared with two benchmark algorithms in terms of Root Mean Square Errors (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Percentage Errors (MAPE).

In recent years, attribute-based access control (ABAC) models have been widely used in big data and cloud computing. However, with the growing importance of data content, using data content to assist authorization for access controls has become more common. In this paper, we propose a dynamic content-driven attribute-based access control model (CABAC) for large-scale unstructured data. CABAC is a fine-grained access control model that use two-layer authorization to balance efficiency and accuracy. The first-layer authorization uses attributes to grant users basic authority and the second-layer authorization uses data content to grant broader authority over "related" data. Experimental results show that CABAC has acceptable efficiency and it can expand the authority of users without reducing security. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Learning from pseudo lesion: A self-supervised framework for covid-19 diagnosis

The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has rapidly spread all over the world since its first report in December 2019 and thoracic computed tomography (CT) has become one of the main tools for its diagnosis. In recent years, deep learning-based approaches have shown impressive performance in myriad image recognition tasks. However, they usually require a large number of annotated data for training. Inspired by Ground Glass Opacity (GGO), a common finding in COIVD-19 patient's CT scans, we proposed in this paper a novel self-supervised pretraining method based on pseudo lesions generation and restoration for COVID-19 diagnosis. We used Perlin noise, a gradient noise based mathematical model, to generate lesion-like patterns, which were then randomly pasted to the lung regions of normal CT images to generate pseudo COVID-19 images. The pairs of normal and pseudo COVID-19 images were then used to train an encoder-decoder architecture based U-Net for image restoration, which does not require any labelled data. The pretrained encoder was then fine-tuned using labelled data for COVID-19 diagnosis task. Two public COVID- 19 diagnosis datasets made up of CT images were employed for evaluation. Comprehensive experimental results demonstrated that the proposed self-supervised learning approach could extract better feature representation for COVID-19 diagnosis and the accuracy of the proposed method outperformed the supervised model pretrained on large scale images by 6.57% and 3.03% on SARS-CoV-2 dataset and Jinan COVID-19 dataset, respectively. © 2021, CC BY-NC-SA.

In this work, a technique for automatic classification of finger motion signals was introduced by using Gram-Schmidt orthonormalization. Because the motion signal has nonlinear and non-stationary processing characteristics, the Gram-Schmidt orthonormalization method is used to analyze the motion signal. By batch processing the high correlation between variables, the classification results are obtained. At the same time, combined with the idea of partial least squares, a new identity measure is proposed to select the best parameters. Finally, SVM is used to classify the movement types of the research objects. According to the test sample records of two finger motion signals (thumb and pinky), the average accuracy is 96.65%. The average accuracy of data activation (thumb and pinky) was 100%. Experiments show that the operation speed of Gram-Schmidt classification method is significantly improved, and it has better interpretability and prediction ability.

In recent years, reinforcement learning has played an important role in the study of decision problem in computer games. To solve the problem of how to better estimate the value function with limited computational resources, this paper proposes a dynamic estimation method of value function based on data adequacy. In consideration of the varying complexity of each state in the MDP model, we propose a dynamic value function estimation method which is different from the fixed value function estimation method in traditional methods. Based on the PigChase challenge of the Malmo project launched by Microsoft in 2017, we compare the new method with the existing techniques. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is better than traditional algorithms. © 2020 ACM.

Triplet learning, i.e. learning from triplet data, has attracted much attention in computer vision tasks with an extremely large number of categories, e.g., face recognition and person re-identification. Albeit with rapid progress in designing and applying triplet learning algorithms, there is a lacking study on the theoretical understanding of their generalization performance. To fill this gap, this paper investigates the generalization guarantees of triplet learning by leveraging the stability analysis. Specifically, we establish the first general high-probability generalization bound for the triplet learning algorithm satisfying the uniform stability, and then 1 obtain the excess risk bounds of the order (Equation presented). for both stochastic gradient descent (SGD) and regularized risk minimization (RRM), where 2n is approximately equal to the number of training samples. Moreover, an optimistic generalization bound in expectation as fast as O(n−1) is derived for RRM in a low noise case via the on-average stability analysis. Universal deep network for steganalysis of color image based on channel representation

Up to now, most existing steganalytic methods are designed for grayscale images, and they are not suitable for color images that are widely used in current social networks. In this paper, we design a universal color image steganalysis network (called UCNet) in spatial and JPEG domains. The proposed method includes preprocessing, convolutional, and classification modules. To preserve the steganographic artifacts in each color channel, in preprocessing module, we firstly separate the input image into three channels according to the corresponding embedding spaces (i.e. RGB for spatial steganography and YCbCr for JPEG steganography), and then extract the image residuals with 62 fixed high-pass filters, finally concatenate all truncated residuals for subsequent analysis rather than adding them together with normal convolution like existing CNN-based steganalyzers. To accelerate the network convergence and effectively reduce the number of parameters, in convolutional module, we carefully design three types of layers with different shortcut connections and group convolution structures to further learn high-level steganalytic features. In classification module, we employ a global average pooling and fully connected layer for classification. We conduct extensive experiments on ALASKA II to demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve state-of-the-art results compared with the modern CNN-based steganalyzers (e.g., SRNet and J-YeNet) in both spatial and JPEG domains, while keeping relatively few memory requirements and training time.
