OSE: On-Site State of Health Estimation for Li-ion Battery using Real-Time Field data

On-site lithium-ion battery state of health (SoH) estimation is of crucial importance for reliable operations of electric vehicles (EVs). Yet, due to the low-quality of unlabeled real-time field data, diverse operating environments of in-service EVs, and limited computational capability of onboard devices, existing techniques established on data from well-controlled experimental environments are not practical for real world EVs' SoH estimation. Accurate and rapid SoH estimation based on field data of in-service EVs still remains quite challenging. To tackle this challenge, we present an on-site SoH estimation (OSE) method using in-service EV field data through a new knowledge embedded deep transfer learning (DTL) model. Initially, an universal data preprocessing approach integrating mechanism knowledge is designed to process low-quality data under diverse operating environments. Then, we develop a domain adaptive hybrid deep neural network (DAHDNN) model suitable for unlabeled field data, which can be deployed via edge cloud collaborative framework to meet actual computational capability. We demonstrate the superiority of our method across four real datasets, where, OSE's estimation error is decreased by up to 78.5% compared with the state-of-the-art methods. The results indicate that the proposed method has good generalizability and reliability for SoH estimation on real-time field data. © 2015 IEEE.

Graph neural networks (GNNs) are specially designed to process graph data because of their ability to effectively capture complex structures and relationships within graphs. However, due to the pixel-based nature of images, representing them as graphs and then using graph networks poses challenges. Inspired by granular computing, we propose a method to compute multi-granularity structured features from image tiles, which facilitates efficient and direct graph-based representation learning. Specifically: (1) We design a method to reorganize all regional features into multiple tiles and construct a multi-granularity graph representation, which includes nodes and edges. (2) We use gray-level co-occurrence matrices to extract the image texture features to compensate for the information lost during graph representation. (3) We design a graph neural network classifier that combines the above graph features and image texture features. Experimental evaluations on two benchmark image classification datasets demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed method and its potential to establish a new paradigm for image processing. Accurately estimating the State of Health(SOH)and Remaining Useful Life(RUL)of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)is crucial for the continuous and stable operation of battery management ***,due to the complex internal chemical systems of LIBs and the nonlinear degradation of their performance,direct measurement of SOH and RUL is *** address these issues,the Twin Support Vector Machine(TWSVM)method is proposed to predict SOH and ***,the constant current charging time of the lithium battery is extracted as a health indicator(HI),decomposed using Variational Modal Decomposition(VMD),and feature correlations are computed using Importance of Random Forest Features(RF)to maximize the extraction of critical factors influencing battery performance ***,to enhance the global search capability of the Convolution Optimization Algorithm(COA),improvements are made using Good Point Set theory and the Differential Evolution *** Improved Convolution Optimization Algorithm(ICOA)is employed to optimize TWSVM parameters for constructing SOH and RUL prediction ***,the proposed models are validated using NASA and CALCE lithium-ion battery *** results demonstrate that the proposed models achieve an RMSE not exceeding 0.007 and an MAPE not exceeding 0.0082 for SOH and RUL prediction,with a relative error in RUL prediction within the range of[-1.8%,2%].Compared to other models,the proposed model not only exhibits superior fitting capability but also demonstrates robust performance.

A Frequency and Polarization Reconfigurable Transparent Water Antenna

A novel frequency and polarization reconfigurable water patch antenna is proposed for radio communication in the UHF band. Based on theoretical analysis and simulation results, water is an ideal material for designing transparent liquid ground. Water enhances outstanding transparency, excellent aesthetics, and high optical stealth performance for a wider range of application scenarios. The entire structure is made with polyvinyl chloride material and distilled water, except for the feed structure. By filling different cavities with liquid water, five different operating states are obtained in 1.924–2.5 GHz (26.1%), 1.67–2.33 GHz (33%), 0.644–2.288 GHz (112.1%), 1.975–2.54 GHz (25%), and 1.748–2.108 GHz (18.7%), achieving frequency reconfigurability. The antenna can be flexibly switched between linear polarization (LP) and two right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) states. The results show that the 3 dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth covers 1.93–2.08 GHz (7.5%) and 2.06–2.132 GHz (3.5%). The antenna achieves high optical transparency of 100% and a peak gain of 7.97 dBi. © 2025, Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

Sketch education is an essential component of arts education. In recent years, with the development of society, the demand for sketch courses has been steadily increasing. However, the existing teaching resources are severely lacking, and unable to meet the requirements of high-quality teaching. This paper has designed and implemented a sketching smart teaching system. The system utilizes artificial intelligence technology to assist teaching, providing modules for image cross-modal transformation and style transfer to broaden users’ creative thinking and fulfill personalized learning needs. Furthermore, the system supports a step-by-step image generation process, aiding users in learning drawing techniques effectively. Additionally, our system can collect users’ drawing processes and analyze the gathered data to correct users’ drawing habits. These data also serve as valuable resources for the development of artificial intelligence. This platform has propelled the transformation of classroom teaching from traditional methods to interactive teaching models inside and outside the classroom, achieving mutual empowerment between artificial intelligence and smart education. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Modern advanced large language model (LLM) applications often prepend long contexts before user queries to improve model output quality. These contexts frequently repeat, either partially or fully, across multiple queries. Existing systems typically store and reuse the keys and values of these contexts (referred to as prefix KVs) to reduce redundant computation and time to first token (TTFT). When prefix KVs need to be stored on disks due to insufficient CPU memory, reusing them does not always reduce TTFT, as disk I/O latency is high. In this paper, we propose IMPRESS, an importance-informed multi-tier prefix KV storage system to reduce I/O delay for LLM inference by only loading important prefix KVs. IMPRESS first leverages the insight that there is significant similarity in important token index sets across attention heads and introduces an I/O-efficient important KV identification algorithm. It then optimizes prefix KV storage and caching through importance-informed KV management, reducing TTFT during model inference. Our experimental results show that IMPRESS can reduce TTFT by up to 2.8× compared to state-of-the-art systems, while maintaining comparable inference accuracy. © 2025 FAST. All Rights Reserved.

Multifunctional therapeutic peptides(MFTP)hold immense potential in diverse therapeutic contexts,yet their prediction and identification remain challenging due to the limitations of traditional methodologies,such as extensive training durations,limited sample sizes,and inadequate generalization *** address these issues,we present AMHF-TP,an advanced method for MFTP recognition that utilizes attention mechanisms and multi-granularity hierarchical features to enhance *** AMHF-TP is composed of four key components:a migration learning module that leverages pretrained models to extract atomic compositional features of MFTP sequences;a convolutional neural network and selfattention module that refine feature extraction from amino acid sequences and their secondary structures;a hypergraph module that constructs a hypergraph for complex similarity representation between MFTP sequences;and a hierarchical feature extraction module that integrates multimodal peptide sequence *** with leading methods,the proposed AMHF-TP demonstrates superior precision,accuracy,and coverage,underscoring its effectiveness and robustness in MFTP *** comparative analysis of separate hierarchical models and the combined model,as well as with five contemporary models,reveals AMHFTP’s exceptional performance and stability in recognition tasks.

Edge Computing Task Scheduling with Joint Blockchain and Task Caching in Industrial Internet

Deploying task caching at edge servers has become an effectiveway to handle compute-intensive and latency-sensitive tasks on the industrialinternet. However, how to select the task scheduling location to reduce taskdelay and cost while ensuring the data security and reliable communicationof edge computing remains a challenge. To solve this problem, this paperestablishes a task scheduling model with joint blockchain and task cachingin the industrial internet and designs a novel blockchain-assisted cachingmechanism to enhance system security. In this paper, the task schedulingproblem, which couples the task scheduling decision, task caching decision,and blockchain reward, is formulated as the minimum weighted cost problemunder delay constraints. This is a mixed integer nonlinear problem, which isproved to be nonconvex and NP-hard. To solve the optimal solution, thispaper proposes a task scheduling strategy algorithm based on an improvedgenetic algorithm (IGA-TSPA) by improving the genetic algorithm initializationand mutation operations to reduce the size of the initial solutionspace and enhance the optimal solution convergence speed. In addition,an Improved Least Frequently Used algorithm is proposed to improve thecontent hit rate. Simulation results show that IGA-TSPA has a faster optimalsolution-solving ability and shorter running time compared with the existingedge computing scheduling algorithms. The established task scheduling modelnot only saves 62.19% of system overhead consumption in comparison withlocal computing but also has great significance in protecting data security,reducing task processing delay, and reducing system cost.

Large language models (LLMs) need knowledge updates to meet the ever-growing world facts and correct the hallucinated responses, facilitating the methods of lifelong model editing. Where the updated knowledge resides in memories is a fundamental question for model editing. In this paper, we find that editing either long-term memory (direct model parameters) or working memory (nonparametric knowledge of neural network activations/representations by retrieval) will result in an impossible triangle-reliability, generalization, and locality can not be realized together in the lifelong editing settings. For long-term memory, directly editing the parameters will cause conflicts with irrelevant pretrained knowledge or previous edits (poor reliability and locality). For working memory, retrieval-based activations can hardly make the model understand the edits and generalize (poor generalization). Therefore, we propose WISE to bridge the gap between memories. In WISE, we design a dual parametric memory scheme, which consists of the main memory for the pretrained knowledge and a side memory for the edited knowledge. We only edit the knowledge in the side memory and train a router to decide which memory to go through when given a query. For continual editing, we devise a knowledge-sharding mechanism where different sets of edits reside in distinct subspaces of parameters and are subsequently merged into a shared memory without conflicts. Extensive experiments show that WISE can outperform previous model editing methods and overcome the impossible triangle under lifelong model editing of question answering, hallucination, and out-of-distribution settings across trending LLM architectures, e.g., GPT, LLaMA, and Mistral. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation.
