The existence of noisy labels in real-world data negatively impacts the performance of deep learning models. Although much research effort has been devoted to improving the robustness towards noisy labels in classification tasks, the problem of noisy labels in deep metric learning (DML) remains under-explored. Existing noisy label learning methods designed for DML mainly discard suspicious noisy samples, resulting in a waste of the training data. To address this issue, we propose a noise-robust DML framework with SubGroup-based Positive-pair Selection (SGPS), which constructs reliable positive pairs for noisy samples to enhance the sample utilization. Specifically, SGPS first effectively identifies clean and noisy samples by a probability-based clean sample selectionstrategy. To further utilize the remaining noisy samples, we discover their potential similar samples based on the subgroup information given by a subgroup generation module and then aggregate them into informative positive prototypes for each noisy sample via a positive prototype generation module. Afterward, a new contrastive loss is tailored for the noisy samples with their selected positive pairs. SGPS can be easily integrated into the training process of existing pair-wise DML tasks, like image retrieval and face recognition. Extensive experiments on multiple synthetic and real-world large-scale label noise datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method. In this work, we present a subband adaptive filtering (SAF) algorithm with good robustness for impulsive noise environments. The proposed squared sine normalized SAF (SS-NSAF) algorithm employs a squared sine function and is inspired by the idea of normalization. A statistical analysis of the proposed SS-NSAF algorithm is carried out under impulsive noise environments, which includes stability conditions for the convergence and analytical formulas to predict the mean-square deviation of the SS-NSAF algorithm. Numerical simulations for system-identification and echo cancellation applications are conducted to illustrate the performance of the SS-NSAF algorithm and competing techniques in impulsive noise environments.

DE-Unet: Dual-encoder U-Net for Ultra-high Resolution Remote Sensing Image Segmentation

In recent years, there has been a growing demand for remote sensing image semantic segmentation in various applications. The key to semantic segmentation lies in the ability to globally comprehend the input image. While recent transformer-based methods can effectively capture global contextual information, they suffer from high computational complexity, particularly when it comes to ultra-high resolution (UHR) remote sensing images, it is even more challenging for these methods to achieve a satisfactory balance between accuracy and computation speed. To address these issues, we propose in this paper a CNN-based dual-encoder U-Net for effective and efficient UHR image segmentation. Our method incorporates dual encoders into the symmetrical framework of U-Net. The dual encoders endow the network with strong global and local perception capabilities simultaneously, while the U-Net's symmetrical structure guarantees the network's robust decoding ability. Additionally, multi-path skip connections ensure ample information exchange between the dual encoders, as well as between the encoders and decoders. Furthermore, we proposes a context-aware modulation fusion module that guides the encoder-encoder and encoder-decoder data fusion through global receptive fields. Experiments conducted on public UHR remote sensing datasets such as the Inria Aerial and DeepGlobe have demonstrated the effectiveness of proposed method. Specifically on the Inria Aerial dataset, our method achieves a 77.42% mIoU which outperforms the baseline [1] by 3.14% while maintaining comparable inference speed. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

Unsupervised anomaly detection (UAD) from images strives to model normal data distributions, creating discriminative representations to distinguish and precisely localize anomalies. Despite recent advancements in the efficient and unified one-for-all scheme, challenges persist in accurately segmenting anomalies for further monitoring. Moreover, this problem is obscured by the widely-used AUROC metric under imbalanced UAD settings. This motivates us to emphasize the significance of precise segmentation of anomaly pixels using pAP and DSC as metrics. To address the unsolved segmentation task, we introduce the Unified Anomaly Segmentation (UniAS). UniAS presents a multi-level hybrid pipeline that progressively enhances normal information from coarse to fine, incorporating a novel multi-granularity gated CNN (MGG-CNN) into Transformer layers to explicitly aggregate local details from different granularities. UniAS achieves state-of-the-art anomaly segmentation performance, attaining 65.12/59.33 and 40.06/32.50 in pAP/DSC on the MVTec-AD and VisA datasets, respectively, surpassing previous methods significantly. In this paper, we present a novel enhancement to the conventional hr-adaptive finite element methods for parabolic equations, integrating traditional h-adaptive and r-adaptive methods via neural networks. A major challenge in hr-adaptive finite element methods lies in projecting the previous step’s finite element solution onto the updated mesh. This projection depends on the new mesh and must be recomputed for each adaptive iteration. To address this, we introduce a neural network to construct a mesh-free surrogate of the previous step finite element solution. Since the neural network is mesh-free, it only requires training once per time step, with its parameters initialized using the optimizer from the previous time step. This approach effectively overcomes the interpolation challenges associated with non-nested meshes in computation, making node insertion and movement more convenient and efficient. The new algorithm also emphasizes SIZING and GENERATE, allowing each refinement to roughly double the number of mesh nodes of the previous iteration and then redistribute them to form a new mesh that effectively captures the singularities. It significantly reduces the time required for repeated refinement and achieves the desired accuracy in no more than seven space-adaptive iterations per time step. Evolutionary dynamics of behavioral motivations for cooperation

Human decision-making is shaped by underlying motivations, which reflect both subjective well-being and fundamental biological needs. Different needs are often prioritized and traded off against one another. Here we develop a theoretical framework to study the evolution of behavioral motivations, encompassing both philanthropic (cooperating after personal needs are met) and aspirational (cooperating to fulfill personal needs) motivations. Our findings show that when the ratio of benefits to costs for cooperation exceeds a critical threshold, individuals initially driven by aspirational motivations can transition to philanthropic motivations with a low reference point for cooperation, resulting in increased cooperation. Furthermore, the critical threshold depends on the structure of the underlying social network, with network modifications capable of reversing the evolutionary trajectory of motivations. Our results reveal the complex interplay between needs, motivations, social networks, and decision-making, offering insights into how evolution shapes not only cooperative behaviors but also the motivations behind them. © The Author(s) 2025.

Lossless and Universal 3D Object Encryption with Differentiated Visual Effects upon Decryption: A Novel Paradigm

A recently proposed 3D object encryption scheme enables hierarchical decryption, allowing a single encryption to display varied visual effects upon decryption. This has potential applications in complex scenarios where 3D objects require access at different security levels. However, it has two main issues: lossless decryption is not possible due to precision loss from the IEEE 754 standard, and it is customized for a specific AES algorithm, limiting support for others. Motivated by this, a novel paradigm for 3D object encryption with differentiated visual effects upon decryption is proposed. In this paradigm, the precision loss is preserved within the 3D encrypted object, allowing the 3D object after fully decrypting to be identical to the original, and thus it is lossless. Meanwhile, the data to be encrypted is reduced to three blocks, which are generalized bitstreams. Bitstream encryption algorithms that do not produce ciphertext expansion can be applied, and it operates independently of the other components in the paradigm, making it universal. Finally, a prototype of this paradigm is constructed, using the same encryption algorithm as in the previous scheme for comparative experiments. Two 3D object datasets are used to conduct the experiments and results demonstrate that it achieves lossless decryption and has a time advantage, while also undergoing security analysis and verification against smoothing attacks to confirm the security. © 2025 IEEE. Multi-agent Collaboration for Vehicular Task Offloading Using Federated Deep Reinforcement Learning

Mobile Edge computing (MEC) distributes resources such as computing, storage, and bandwidth to the side close to users, which can provide low-latency services to in-vehicle users, thus promising a more efficient and safer driving environment. However, due to the dynamic scale of vehicle and the variability of resource requirements, it is a significant challenge to quickly obtain effective task offloading in large-scale vehicle scenarios. The existing studies generally adopt the centralized decision-making method, with long decision-making time and high computational overhead, which cannot effectively achieve good offloading decisions in large-scale scenarios. To address these problems, we propose a Multi-agent Collaborative Method for vehicular task offloading using Federated Deep Reinforcement Learning called MCM-FDRL. First, each vehicle as an agent, independently makes offloading decisions based on local information. Next, the offloading decision model of each vehicle is obtained through federated reinforcement learning training. At runtime, an effective vehicle offloading plan can be gradually developed through multi-agent collaboration. Using two real-world datasets, experiments show that the MCM-FDRL has good adaptability and scalability. Moreover, compared to the state-of-the-art methods, the task's average response time of the MCM-FDRL is reduced by 9.75%-64.90%, respectively. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Design of observer-based discrete repetitive-control system based on 2D model

A discrete observer-based repetitive control(RC) design method for a linear system with uncertainties was presented based on two-dimensional(2D) system theory. Firstly, a 2D discrete model was established to describe both the control behavior within a repetition period and the learning process taking place between periods. Next, by converting the designing problem of repetitive controller into one of the feedback gains of reconstructed variables, the stable condition was obtained through linear matrix inequality(LMI) and also the gain coefficient of repetitive system. Numerical simulation shows an exceptional feasibility of this proposal with remarkable robustness and tracking speed.

Ferroelectric field thin-film transistors (Fe-TFTs) are a promising candidate for multi-bit nonvolatile memory devices. Different theories and methods have been proposed to realize this kind of device. This paper introduces a novel operation procedure that utilizes reverse polarization under the organic ferroelectric thin-film transistors (OFe-TFTs) channel to achieve the multi-bit nonvolatile memory device. The potential difference between the source and the drain contact of Fe-TFT was utilized to implement a reverse distribution of the polarization under the channel of Fe-TFT. A self-designed technology computer-aided design platform of DEVSIM was used to exemplify our method of reverse polarization distribution in the bottom-gate top-contact Fe-TFTs. Then, an organic Fe-TFT using poly (vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) (PVDF-TrFE) as the dielectric and Poly [2,5-(2-octyldodecyl) -3, 6- diketopyrrolopyrrole -alt-5,5- (2,5-di (thien-2-yl) thieno [3, 2-b] thiophene)] (DPP-DTT) as the semiconductor layers was fabricated to realize a 2-bit memory device. The measured transfer characteristics and retention properties perform a good verification of our originality. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.
