In this letter, a set of circularly polarized (CP) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) cellphone frame antennas for mobile communication applications is proposed. The planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) and monopole antenna operate at frequencies of 3.5 GHz and 5.5 GHz with impedance and axial ratio (AR) bandwidths overlapping at 11.4% (3.3-3.7 GHz) and 7.3% (5.2-5.6 GHz), respectively. To reduce the electromagnetic coupling between the two antennas, the V-shaped mental fence is added and different rectangular metasurface (RMS) arrays are adopted to enhance the CP radiation performances. This design not only covers 5G communication, LTE, and the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. It also provides a communication strategy for future direct satellite communication from cellphones, enhancing efficient switching between satellite and cellular networks. © 2002-2011 IEEE.

Interactive medical image segmentation methods have become increasingly popular in recent years. These methods combine manual labeling and automatic segmentation, reducing the workload of annotation while maintaining high accuracy. However, most current interactive segmentation frameworks are limited to 2D image data, and are not suitable for 3D image data due to the large size and high complexity of 3D data, as well as the challenges posed by information asymmetry and sparse annotation. In this paper, we propose SliceProp, an interactive segmentation framework that implements slice-wise Label Bidirectional Propagation (LBP) for 3D medical image segmentation. SliceProp extends the interactive 2D image segmentation algorithm to 3D image segmentation, and can handle 3D data with large size and high complexity. Moreover, equipped with a Backtracking Feedback Check (BFC) module, SliceProp effectively addresses the issues of information asymmetry and spatial sparse annotation in 3D medical image segmentation. Additionally, we adopt an uncertainty-based criterion to pri-oritize the slices to be refined interactively, which enhances the efficiency of the interaction process by enabling the model to focus on the regions with the most unreliable predictions. SliceProp is evaluated on two datasets and achieves promising results compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 IEEE.

3D object detection is an essential perception task in autonomous driving to understand the environments. The Bird's-Eye-View (BEV) representations have significantly improved the performance of 3D detectors with camera inputs on popular benchmarks. However, there still lacks a systematic understanding of the robustness of these vision-dependent BEV models, which is closely related to the safety of autonomous driving systems. In this paper, we evaluate the natural and adversarial robustness of various representative models under extensive settings, to fully understand their behaviors influenced by explicit BEV features compared with those without BEV. In addition to the classic settings, we propose a 3D consistent patch attack by applying adversarial patches in the 3D space to guarantee the spatiotemporal consistency, which is more realistic for the scenario of autonomous driving. With substantial experiments, we draw several findings: 1) BEV models tend to be more stable than previous methods under different natural conditions and common corruptions due to the expressive spatial representations;2) BEV models are more vulnerable to adversarial noises, mainly caused by the redundant BEV features;3) Camera-LiDARfusion models have superior performance under different settings with multi-modal inputs, but BEV fusion model is still vulnerable to adversarial noises of both point cloud and image. These findings alert the safety issue in the applications of BEV detectors and could facilitate the development of more robust models. © 2023 IEEE.

Open-VCLIP: Transforming CLIP to an Open-vocabulary Video Model via Interpolated Weight Optimization

Contrastive Language-Image Pretraining (CLIP) has demonstrated impressive zero-shot learning abilities for image understanding, yet limited effort has been made to investigate CLIP for zero-shot video recognition. We introduce Open-VCLIP, a simple yet effective approach that transforms CLIP into a strong zero-shot video classifier that can recognize unseen actions and events at test time. Our framework extends CLIP with minimal modifications to model spatial-temporal relationships in videos, making it a specialized video classifier, while striving for generalization. We formally show that training an Open-VCLIP is equivalent to continual learning with zero historical data. To address this problem, we propose Interpolated Weight Optimization, which utilizes the benefit of weight interpolation in both training and test time. We evaluate our method on three popular and challenging action recognition datasets following various zero-shot evaluation protocols and we demonstrate our approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods by clear margins. In particular, we achieve 87.9%, 58.3%, 81.1% zero-shot accuracy on UCF, HMDB and Kinetics-600 respectively, outperforming state-of-the-art methods by 8.3%, 7.8% and 12.2%. A low coupling sparse array (LCSA) is presented, analyzed and discussed on the basis of the recent proposed uniform linear array (ULA) fitting scheme with close-expressions, and its performance with different uniform subarrays in the basic layer is investigated via parameter estimation like direction-of-arrival(DOA). The results gives a superior performance for the presented LCSA. © 2022 IEEE.

Isoforms refer to different mRNA molecules transcribed from the same gene, which can be translated into proteins with varying structures and functions. Predicting the functions of isoforms is an essential topic in bioinformatics as it can provide valuable insights into the intricate mechanisms of gene regulation and biological processes. Conventionally, gene function labels are standardized in Gene Ontology (GO) terms. However, traditional methods for predicting isoform function are largely limited by the absence of isoform-specific labels, sparse annotations, and the vast number of GO terms. To address these issues, we propose HANIso, a deep learning-based method for isoform function prediction. HANIso leverages a pretrained protein language model to extract features from protein sequences. It also integrates heterogeneous information, such as isoform sequence features, GO annotations, and isoform interaction data, using a Heterogeneous Graph Attention Network (HAN). This allows the model to learn the importance of different sources of information and their semantic relationships through the attention mechanism. Our method can predict function labels at both the gene level and isoform level. We conduct experiments on two species datasets, and the results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing methods on both AUROC and AUPRC. HANIso has the potential to overcome the limitations of traditional methods and provide a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of isoform function. © 2023 IEEE.

Recently, the textual adversarial attack models become increasingly popular due to their successful in estimating the robustness of NLP models. However, existing works have obvious deficiencies. (1) They usually consider only a single granularity of modification strategies (e.g. word-level or sentence-level), which is insufficient to explore the holistic textual space for generation;(2) They need to query victim models hundreds of times to make a successful attack, which is highly inefficient in practice. To address such problems, in this paper we propose MAYA, a MultigrAnularitY Attack model to effectively generate high-quality adversarial samples with fewer queries to victim models. Furthermore, we propose a reinforcement-learning based method to train a multi-granularity attack agent through behavior cloning with the expert knowledge from our MAYA algorithm to further reduce the query times. Additionally, we also adapt the agent to attack black-box models that only output labels without confidence scores. We conduct comprehensive experiments to evaluate our attack models by attacking BiLSTM, BERT and RoBERTa in two different black-box attack settings and three benchmark datasets. Experimental results show that our models achieve overall better attacking performance and produce more fluent and grammatical adversarial samples compared to baseline models. Besides, our adversarial attack agent significantly reduces the query times in both attack settings. We propose the antenna developments from nature to engineering, which is a natural method to train student for designing antenna. Also, the interest of the students can be stimulated. Using this method, the students can get how to design antennas and will be interested on the antenna engineering. Then, young talents can be brought up. By using this strategy, a nature Logo is introduced and cooperated with the proposed talent training method to get new antennas. Also, the results for the developed antenna is also simulated and analyzed based on the theory from the text book. In the future, the proposed talents training techniques or method can also be expanded to other different research directions. © 2022 IEEE.

Graphics, uncertainty, and semantics are three approaches to building models. The combination of the three approaches is a way to develop a stronger modeling method. This article surveys the research efforts toward combining these aspects, which can be divided into two routes: One is to combine graphics and uncertainty as probabilistic graphical models and then incorporate semantics, and the other is to combine graphics and semantics and then incorporate probability to handle uncertainty. The models and methods involved in these efforts are introduced and their expressiveness, pros, and cons are discussed. © 2021 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) aims to transfer the knowledge learned from the labeled source domain to the unlabeled target domain. Traditional methods often focus on minimizing the distribution gap between feature spaces of the two domains to achieve domain-invariant representations. However, this approach may not fully leverage the inherent class-specific information and could adversely affect decision boundaries in the target domain. In this paper, we introduce an adversarial contrastive self-training framework. The model integrates both intra-class and inter-class domain differences for better alignment between the source and target domains. Initially, we augment target domain samples using Fourier transformations, obtaining reliable samples and pseudo-labels through self-training. We then employ intra-domain contrastive learning on the reliable samples and pseudo-labels, alongside labeled source domain samples, to achieve intra-domain compactness. Finally, we utilize adversarial learning to achieve global alignment. This comprehensive approach ensures improved adaptation performance while also addressing the limitations of previous methods.
