Dynamic system modeling methods have become a hot topic for stationary and nonstationary signal processing. Nonnegativity is a desired constraint that usually exerts on to be estimated parameters, and its generation usually based on the inherent physical characteristics of unknown system. Moreover, non-Gaussian noise is present in many practical system identification situations. In this paper, an adaptive nonnegative maximum correntropy criterion (NNMCC) algorithm is proposed for system identification under non-negativity constraints. We derive the NNMCC algorithm based on the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions and a fixed-point iteration scheme. The first-order and second-order moments of the NNMCC algorithm adaptive weights are theoretically analyzed. Experimental results validate the theoretical analysis and illustrate the superior performance of NNMCC in non-Gaussian noise environments. © 2022, CC BY.

As the largest class of small non-coding RNAs, piRNAs primarily present in the reproductive cells of mammals, which influence post-transcriptional processes of mRNAs in multiple ways. Effective methods for predicting piRNA and mRNA target relationships can help identify piRNA functions, investigate the possibility of piRNAs as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. In this study, we propose a computational approach for classifying the relationships of piRNA-mRNA pairs based on an interactive inference network (IIN). First, we gather piRNA-mRNA target data, collect sequence data by position alignment, and construct a benchmark dataset. Furthermore, a reliable negative set is constructed by positive-unlabeled learning. Finally, we view a piRNA and a mRNA sequence as a premise and hypothesis sentence, respectively, and IIN model is used to predict the relationship between them. The experiments demonstrate that our method effectively characterizes piRNA-mRNA interaction and could be beneficial for researchers to investigate piRNA functions.

Multi-agent Collaboration for Vehicular Task Offloading Using Federated Deep Reinforcement Learning

Mobile Edge computing (MEC) distributes resources such as computing, storage, and bandwidth to the side close to users, which can provide low-latency services to in-vehicle users, thus promising a more efficient and safer driving environment. However, due to the dynamic scale of vehicle and the variability of resource requirements, it is a significant challenge to quickly obtain effective task offloading in large-scale vehicle scenarios. The existing studies generally adopt the centralized decision-making method, with long decision-making time and high computational overhead, which cannot effectively achieve good offloading decisions in large-scale scenarios. To address these problems, we propose a Multi-agent Collaborative Method for vehicular task offloading using Federated Deep Reinforcement Learning called MCM-FDRL. First, each vehicle as an agent, independently makes offloading decisions based on local information. Next, the offloading decision model of each vehicle is obtained through federated reinforcement learning training. At runtime, an effective vehicle offloading plan can be gradually developed through multi-agent collaboration. Using two real-world datasets, experiments show that the MCM-FDRL has good adaptability and scalability. Moreover, compared to the state-of-the-art methods, the task's average response time of the MCM-FDRL is reduced by 9.75%-64.90%, respectively. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

SpreadFGL: Edge-Client Collaborative Federated Graph Learning with Adaptive Neighbor Generation

Federated Graph Learning (FGL) has garnered widespread attention by enabling collaborative training on multiple clients for semi-supervised classification tasks. However, most existing FGL studies do not well consider the missing inter-client topology information in real-world scenarios, causing insufficient feature aggregation of multi-hop neighbor clients during model training. Moreover, the classic FGL commonly adopts the FedAvg but neglects the high training costs when the number of clients expands, resulting in the overload of a single edge server. To address these important challenges, we propose a novel FGL framework, named SpreadFGL, to promote the information flow in edge-client collaboration and extract more generalized potential relationships between clients. In SpreadFGL, an adaptive graph imputation generator incorporated with a versatile assessor is first designed to exploit the potential links between subgraphs, without sharing raw data. Next, a new negative sampling mechanism is developed to make SpreadFGL concentrate on more refined information in downstream tasks. To facilitate load balancing at the edge layer, SpreadFGL follows a distributed training manner that enables fast model convergence. Using real-world testbed and benchmark graph datasets, extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SpreadFGL. IR-GAN: Image Manipulation with Linguistic Instruction by Increment Reasoning

Conditional image generation is an active research topic including text2image and image translation. Recently image manipulation with linguistic instruction brings new challenges of multimodal conditional generation. However, traditional conditional image generation models mainly focus on generating high-quality and visually realistic images, and lack resolving the partial consistency between image and instruction. To address this issue, we propose an Increment Reasoning Generative Adversarial Network (IR-GAN), which aims to reason the consistency between visual increment in images and semantic increment in instructions. First, we introduce the word-level and instruction-level instruction encoders to learn user's intention from history-correlated instructions as semantic increment. Second, we embed the representation of semantic increment into that of source image for generating target image, where source image plays the role of referring auxiliary. Finally, we propose a reasoning discriminator to measure the consistency between visual increment and semantic increment, which purifies user's intention and guarantees the good logic of generated target image. In reality, many multi-objective optimization problems are dynamic. The Pareto optimal front (PF) or Pareto optimal solution (PS) of these dynamic multi-objective problems (DMOPs) changes as the environment change. Therefore, solving such problems requires an optimization algorithm that can quickly track the PF or PS after an environment change. Prediction-based response mechanism is a common method used to deal with environmental changes, which is commonly known as center point-based prediction. However, if the predicted direction of the center point is inaccurate, the predicted population will be biased towards one side. In this paper, we propose a niche prediction strategy based on center and boundary points (PCPB) to solve the dynamic multi-objective optimization problems, which consists of three steps. After environmental changes are detected, the first step is to divide the niche, dividing different individuals in the PS into different niche populations. The second step is to independently predict different niches, and select individuals with good convergence and distribution in the niche to predict the individuals that will produce the next generation. Finally, some different individuals are randomly generated in the next possible PS area to ensure the diversity of the population. To verify whether our proposed strategy is effective and competitive, PCPB was compared with five state-of-the-art strategies. The experimental results show that PCPB performed competitively in solving dynamic multi-objective optimization problems, which proves that our algorithm has good competitiveness. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.

A U-shaped-like parasitic strip loading antenna is proposed and designed, which can work in L1 band of GPS with circular polarization (CP) characteristics. The antenna consists of ground plane, dielectric, radiation patch and U-shaped-like parasitic strips using a simple coaxial feed probe. The asymmetric U-shaped-like strips are to realize CP. The simulation and optimization results for the modeled directional CP antenna show that the axial ratio bandwidth is 10MHz and the impedance bandwidth is 30MHz, which can meet the requirements for GPS L1 band.

Learning how to model global relationships and extract local details is crucial in improving the performance of multi-organ segmentation. Most existing U-shaped structure methods use feature fusion to address these two challenges, but still lack the ability to balance capturing global relationships and local details. To address these issues, we propose a novel multi-organ segmentation framework called TransWnet to mine global relationships and local details from both intra- and inter-scale perspectives. To achieve this, we innovatively design a Row and Column Swin Transformer (RCST) module that can efficiently capture global contextual features and construct local information. Specifically, we design a parallel structure of Row and Column Attention to model the global relationships of multi-scale encoded features, and further mine local information from the global relationships through a local window mechanism. Extensive experiments on the Synapse dataset show that our method outperforms state-of-the-art approaches and achieves accurate segmentation of abdominal multi-organs.

With the rapid development of Internet of Everything (IoE) and the popularization of 4G/5G wireless networks, edge computing has gradually become the mainstream. In actual edge environment, some factors have an uncertain impact on scientific workflow scheduling, such as CPU load and bandwidth fluctuations of servers. Aiming at scientific workflow scheduling under uncertain edge environment, based on fuzzy theory, triangular fuzzy numbers (TFNs) were used to represent task computation time and data transmission time. In addition, an Adaptive Discrete Fuzzy GA-based Particle Swarm Optimization (ADFGA-PSO) is proposed to reduce the fuzzy execution cost while satisfying the scientific workflow’s deadline. The uncertainty of workflow scheduling was introduced, which caused by server execution performance fluctuations during task computation and bandwidth fluctuations during data transmission. Meanwhile, two-dimensional discrete particle is adopted to encode the fuzzy scheduling strategy of workflow, and the two-point crossover operator, neighborhood mutation and adaptive multipoint mutation operator of genetic algorithm (GA) were introduced to improve the diversity of population and avoid the local optimum. Experimental results show that compared with other algorithms, ADFGA-PSO can obtain better fuzzy execution cost for deadline-constrained workflow scheduling under uncertain edge environment. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This paper proposes a Da-shaped slotted antenna, where the Chinese culture is integrated into the antenna design to achieve an artistic antenna that can be used in 5G communication system. The designed antenna has circular polarization characteristic, which is composed of ground plane, dielectric layer and metal sheet A engraved with Da-shaped slot, and a U-shaped wall (metal sheet B). A simple L-shaped feed probe is used to improve the working bandwidth of the antenna. A U-shaped metal sheet B is considered to improve antenna gain and axial ratio bandwidth. The simulation and optimization results show that the axial ratio bandwidth is 2.30-2.71GHz, and the impedance bandwidth is 2.44-2.7GHz, both of which can cover operating frequency in the range of 2.515-2.675GHz of 5G.
