CESFusion: Cross-Frequency Enhanced Spatial—Spectral Fusion Network for Hyperspectral and Multispectral Image Fusion

The fusion of hyperspectral and multispectral images (MSIs) involves integrating a high spectral resolution hyperspectral image (HSI) and a high spatial resolution MSI to generate an HSI with high-resolution HSI (HR-HSI). Existing HSI-MSI fusion methods primarily focus on information fusion within the spatial domain;however, few solutions have explored the employment of frequency analysis to enhance spatial resolution, limiting their capability for global perception. In this article, we propose an efficient and novel paradigm for HSI-MSI fusion through the cross-frequency enhanced spatial-spectral fusion network, named CESFusion, exploring the complementary fusion of information between the spatial and frequency domains. Specifically, we first present the cross-frequency fusion module (CFFM) to perform global analysis through the Fourier transform (FT) and effectively integrate and enhance the frequency domain information from both HSI and MSI. Subsequently, we propose the spectral modeling module (SpeMM) based on a state space model (SMM) to capture long-range spectral dependencies with linear complexity, and integrate it with the spatial residual block-based module (SRM) for joint spatial-spectral feature extraction. Finally, to enable sufficient interaction between the spatial and frequency domains, we adopt the cross-domain interaction module (CDIM), capturing and integrating complementary information from both domains. Moreover, a frequency-based loss function is purposely designed to further improve the restoration of global information. Extensive experiments conducted on both synthetic and real datasets demonstrate the superiority of our CESFusion, as evidenced by both quantitative and qualitative evaluation results. © 1980-2012 IEEE.

Automated detection of cervical lesion cell clumps is crucial for cervical cancer screening. However, the dense packing and overlap of cells, caused by adhesion molecules, make detection challenging. To address this issue, we propose the Morphology-Aware Detector (MA-Det). Specifically, by innovatively employing Deformable Convolution, we propose the Dynamic Context Aggregation Module (DCAM) which dynamically captures contextual information, improving the feature representation of lesion cells. To enhance discrimination in high-density regions, we design the Distance-Weighted Interaction Module (DWIM) and Adaptive Morphology-Aware (AMA) loss into the detection head. These components improve spatial awareness by utilizing interactions between cell features and proposals. In particular, our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on the CDetector and CRIC datasets while significantly reducing parameters.

In video compression, motion estimation and motion compensation are critical for achieving efficient encoding. Although the commonly used SpyNet and bilinear interpolation have contributed in improving the compression efficiency, they still have limitations. SpyNet often loses details and fails to fully utilize the feature extraction capabilities of deep networks. Furthermore, bilinear interpolation inherently attenuates high-frequency information, leading to frame blurring and distortion. In this paper, we propose a novel video compression algorithm. To overcome the limitations of SpyNet, we propose a refined adaptive flow pyramid network. This network uses a multi-scale feature pyramid to capture more details. Moreover, we use an iterative cost volume refinement engine that improves the feature representation of the network and iteratively improve the accuracy of motion estimation. In addition, to overcome the limitation of bilinear interpolation, we propose a coordinate-aware attention module, which captures more high-frequency information to improve the accuracy of motion compensation. Experimental results show that our method outperforms VTM-13.2 (LDP) in terms of PSNR.

In the domain of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications, methodologies such as meta computing are essential for ensuring timely and efficient data acquisition within intricate environments characterized by multiple edge devices and isolated sensor networks. The Age of Information (AoI), a key metric for evaluating data timeliness and relevance, has emerged as a focal point for improving decision-making and system responsiveness. However, managing these systems in resourcelimited edge environments is challenging, as traditional methods struggle to link sink node selection with data collection path planning, leading to inefficiency and poor AoI performance. This paper develops a collaborative optimization framework based on meta computing, which dynamically coordinates distributed computational resources as a unified virtual system. It combines self-organizing mapping (SOM) with reinforcement learning (RL) to optimize sink node selection and data collection paths using AoI metrics. Experimental results show the method significantly reduces AoI, improves data freshness, and optimizes energy use, highlighting meta computing's potential for scalable, efficient IIoT solutions. © 2014 IEEE.

Regarding computer security, the growth of code vulnerability types presents a persistent challenge. These vulnerabilities, which may cause severe consequences, necessitate precise classification for effective mitigation. However, the rapid emergence of new vulnerability types complicates the classification process. Traditional methodologies, which often involve human expertise and the manual labeling or generation of example instances, are not only resource-intensive but also struggle to adapt to the dynamic nature of these vulnerabilities. This paper introduces VulnSense, an innovative method that harnesses the capabilities of Generalized Zero-Shot Learning (GZSL) to address the vulnerability classification problem. VulnSense learns about unseen vulnerability classes from the descriptions of these unseen classes, while not requiring to see any instances of these unseen classes. Specifically, VulnSense learns from three main resources: (1) seen classes with labeled code instances;(2) descriptions of these seen classes;and (3) descriptions of "unseen"classes which have no labeled instances. Our experiments underscore VulnSense's superiority over existing GZSL methods in classifying instances of unseen classes. Concurrently, it maintains a performance parity with traditional labeled-example based learning methods in classifying instances of seen vulnerabilities. VulnSense demonstrates the potential of using GZSL for vulnerability classification, while also highlighting challenges that inspire future work. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Nucleus segmentation plays a vital role in medical image analysis. However, existing segmentation methods frequently encounter hurdles, such as the loss of crucial image details during downsampling and issues like noise and spatial displacement. In this study, we propose NucleiFormer, where Haar wavelet transforms are employed in the encoder to replace conventional downsampling techniques. Additionally, we utilize an adaptive feature calibration module to align and calibrate features of different scales, reduce feature redundancy, suppress noise, and enhance the spatial awareness of the model. Extensive experiments validate our model’s superior segmentation performance in accurately delineating nucleus boundaries and minimizing errors.

Semantic-Aware Pseudo-Labeling for Unsupervised Meta-Learning

In unsupervised meta-learning, the clustering-based pseudo-labeling approach is an attractive framework, since it is model-agnostic, allowing it to synergize with supervised algorithms to learn from unlabeled data. However, the pseudo-labels suffer from clustering noise and semantic chaos problems, further impacting the effectiveness of meta-learning. In this paper, we analyze and optimize the pseudo-labeling process, including encoding and clustering, aiming to generate semantic- like pseudo-labels to narrow the gap between unsupervised and supervised meta-learning. Firstly, during the encoding, we observe that the embedding space of existing methods lacks clustering-friendly properties, which is the primary reason for clustering noise. To address this issue, we minimize the inter-to-intra-class similarity ratio to generate clustering-friendly embedding features and validate our approach through comprehensive experiments. Then, during the clustering, we find that the semantic quality of pseudo-labels is not adequately controlled, resulting in semantic chaos of pseudo-labels. We propose a semantic-stability index to measure the semantic quality of pseudo-labels quantitatively. Based on this index, we propose the Semantic-aware Pseudo-label Reassignment mechanism to generate semantic- like pseudo-labels for all samples. Our approach is model-agnostic and can easily be integrated into existing supervised methods. To demonstrate its generalization ability, we integrate it into two representative algorithms: MAML and EP. The results on three main few-shot benchmarks clearly show that the proposed method achieves significant improvement compared to state-of-the-art models. Notably, our approach also outperforms the corresponding supervised method in three tasks. The source code will be made publicly available. ©1979-2012 IEEE.

DBSSL: A Scheme to Detect Backdoor Attacks in Self-Supervised Learning Models

Recently, self-supervised learning has garnered significant attention for its ability to extract high-quality features from unlabeled data. However, existing research indicates that backdoor attacks can pose significant threats to self-supervised learning. Additionally, due to the substantial training overhead, traditional backdoor detection methods in supervised learning, such as meta-learning, are not well-suited for self-supervised learning. Current backdoor detection methods for self-supervised learning can only defend against backdoor attacks triggered by patch. To address this challenge, we proposes DBSSL, a scheme that can efficiently detect backdoor attacks in self-supervised learning models. In DBSSL, we connect backdoor attacks with adversarial attacks and use adversarial perturbations for detection. Specifically, we first conduct targeted adversarial attacks on the samples, classifying them into different classes. Then, we employ the Z-Score method to analyze these adversarial perturbations. If outliers are present, we can infer that the self-supervised learning model has been backdoored. Unlike previous works, our scheme is better suited for downstream users with constrained computation resources and exhibits excellent detection capabilities for backdoor attacks caused by patch -type or global triggers. Abundant theoretical analysis has demonstrated the feasibility of our scheme. Moreover, extensive experiments show that our method performs well in detecting prevalent backdoor attacks in self-supervised learning, achieving detection accuracy exceeding 95%. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

PIP: Perturbation-based Iterative Pruning for Large Language Models

The rapid increase in the parameter counts of Large Language Models (LLMs), reaching billions or even trillions, presents significant challenges for their practical deployment, particularly in resource-constrained environments. To ease this issue, we propose PIP (Perturbation-based Iterative Pruning), a novel double-view structured pruning method to optimize LLMs, which combines information from two different views: the unperturbed view and the perturbed view. With the calculation of gradient differences, PIP iteratively prunes those that struggle to distinguish between these two views. Our experiments show that PIP reduces the parameter count by approximately 20% while retaining over 85% of the original model’s accuracy across varied benchmarks. In some cases, the performance of the pruned model is within 5% of the unpruned version, demonstrating PIP’s ability to preserve key aspects of model effectiveness. Moreover, PIP consistently outperforms existing state-of-the-art (SOTA) structured pruning methods, establishing it as a leading technique for optimizing LLMs in environments with constrained resources. Sparse and Dense: Learning Confusion Representation Network for 3D Action Recognition

In the field of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), the demand for Human Action Recognition (HAR) is growing. Due to the limitations of portability and privacy of traditional sensors, many endeavors have made significant progress in 3D skeleton-based action recognition. However, existing methods ignore potential higher-order semantic information between joints and fail to perceive rapidly changing dynamic details, resulting in frequent confusion of actions with similar motion trajectories. To alleviate this issue, we propose a novel learning confusion representation network (LCR-Net). Specifically, a progressive feature enhancement module is first designed to utilize self-attention to gradually aggregate lower-order features to higher-order features, emphasizing the relative movement between body parts. Second, we design the enhanced spatiotemporal convolution to explore the potential spatio-temporal dependencies between joints by adding a mask matrix and an attention fusion mechanism. To further perceive the spatiotemporal relationships in subtle changes, we divide the interactive sparse-dense pathways at different spatio-temporal resolutions and enhance the complementary information between the two pathways through feature interaction. Finally, the frequency excitation learning module is proposed to efficiently learn the importance of different frequencies by cross-channel modeling, promoting the compactness of actions within classes and the separability of confusion actions. In addition, the lightweight LCR-Net+ is achieved through model compression optimization to meet the deployment requirements of IoT systems. Comprehensive experiments conducted on three public datasets (NTU-RGB+ D60&120, NW-UCLA) demonstrate the superior performance of our model. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.
