Recently, building on the foundation of neural radiance field, various techniques have emerged to learn unsigned distance fields (UDF) to reconstruct 3D non-watertight models from multi-view images. Yet, a central challenge in UDF-based volume rendering is formulating a proper way to convert unsigned distance values into volume density, ensuring that the resulting weight function remains unbiased and sensitive to occlusions. Falling short on these requirements often results in incorrect topology or large reconstruction errors in resulting models. This paper addresses this challenge by presenting a novel two-stage algorithm, 2S-UDF, for learning a high-quality UDF from multi-view images. Initially, the method applies an easily trainable density function that, while slightly biased and transparent, aids in coarse reconstruction. The subsequent stage then refines the geometry and appearance of the object to achieve a high-quality reconstruction by directly adjusting the weight function used in volume rendering to ensure that it is unbiased and occlusion-aware. Decoupling density and weight in two stages makes our training stable and robust, distinguishing our technique from existing UDF learning approaches. Evaluations on the DeepFashion3D, DTU, and BlendedMVS datasets validate the robustness and effectiveness of our proposed approach. In both quantitative metrics and visual quality, the results indicate our superior performance over other UDF learning techniques in reconstructing 3D non-watertight models from multi-view images. Audio-driven talking-head synthesis has become a significant focus in the field of virtual human applications. However, existing methodologies face challenges in effectively synchronizing audio and video, especially in maintaining emotional consistency. Additionally, there is a notable inefficiency in leveraging emotional prompts to guide expression generation. To address these limitations, this paper introduces an Emotion Synchronized audio-driven Talking-head synthesis (EST) approach. The EST approach aims to enhance the emotion-agnostic talking-head models by enabling emotion control, and it incorporates a diffusion module to learn diverse latent rep-resentations. Furthermore, EST utilizes null-text embedding to align the latent code with emotional prompts. Additionally, a novel Sync Attention Block (SAB) is developed to broaden the spatial perceptual field, thus preventing the loss of critical information. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the EST method, showcasing state-of-the-art performance across widely-adopted datasets. Moreover, the EST approach exhibits exceptional generalization capabilities, even in scenarios where emotional training videos are unavailable.

With the rapid development of document digitization, people have become accustomed to capturing and processing documents using electronic devices such as smartphones. However, the captured document images often suffer from issues like shadows and noise due to environmental factors, which can affect their readability. To improve the quality of captured document images, researchers have proposed a series of models or frameworks and applied them in distinct scenarios such as image enhancement, and document information extraction. In this paper, we primarily focus on shadow removal methods and open-source datasets. We concentrate on recent advancements in this area, first organizing and analyzing nine available datasets. Then, the methods are categorized into conventional methods and neural network-based methods. Conventional methods use manually designed features and include shadow map-based approaches and illumination-based approaches. Neural network-based methods automatically generate features from data and are divided into single-stage approaches and multi-stage approaches. We detail representative algorithms and briefly describe some typical techniques. Finally, we analyze and discuss experimental results, identifying the limitations of datasets and methods. Future research directions are discussed, and nine suggestions for shadow removal from document images are proposed. To our knowledge, this is the first survey of shadow removal methods and related datasets from document images.

With serverless computing offering more efficient and cost-effective application deployment, the diversity of serverless platforms presents challenges to users, including platform lock-in and costly migration. This article presents a detailed comparison of six major public cloud function computing platforms and introduces a benchmarking framework for function computing performance. Supervised methods on 3D medical image segmentation need large amounts of annotated data, but annotating is time-consuming. Also, existing 3D segmentation methods capture more global structural information but overlook local detailed features, which negatively impacts the segmentation of small tissues. In this paper, we propose a novel weakly-supervised 2D-3D Feature Co-Embedding Network (2D-3D CoENet) that includes 2D and 3D encoding layers, simultaneously extracting 2D local detailed and 3D global structural features. To reduce annotation costs, we use fewer labeled slices as ground truth and pseudo-labels are generated by 2D-3D CoENet for other slices. Additionally, multi-view learning is introduced to capture more 2D local detailed information, and a Multi-view Semantic Consistency loss (MSC loss) is proposed to constrain features from multiple perspectives. To further enhance the local detailed texture features, we propose an Edge Enhancement Module (EEM) in the 3D segmentation network to enhance the edge detail features. Our experimental results on the SKI10 dataset and OAI ZIB dataset demonstrate that our method outperforms the SOTA weakly-supervised segmentation methods. Moreover, our approach achieves results that are comparable to the fully-supervised upper bound results. © 2024 IEEE.

The grim situation of novel coronavirus pneumonia 2019 (COVID-19) and its terrible spreading speed have already constituted a severe risk to human life, so it is ultimately essential to rapidly and accurately diagnose for COVID-19 pneumonia. Based on this study's 746 lung CT images, we propose Multi-MedVit, a novel auxiliary COVID-19 diagnosis framework based on the multi-input Transformer. We compare Multi-MedVit with state-of-the-art deep learning methods, such as CNN, VGG16, and ResNet50. Multi-MedVit outperformed the other methods on the benchmark dataset and proved that multiscale data input for data augmentation helped enhance model stability. Based on an interpretable analysis of the input and output of Multi-MedVit, we found that with the support of the training set data, the model has been possible to accurately focus on the lesion area for diagnosis of COVID-19 without expert annotations, which can provide initial references containing more potential information to doctors more precisely and fleetly. © 2022 IEEE.

Molecule generation is a critical process in the fields of drug discovery and materials science. Recently, generative models based on normalizing flows have demonstrated significant potential in this domain. These models are particularly suited for handling the symmetrical and complex chemical structures often encountered in molecular datasets. Despite their promising nature, normalizing flow-based models for molecule generation face considerable challenges. The complexity of molecule representation, the rigorous demands of optimization, and the scarcity of training labels in molecular datasets contribute to these difficulties. Additionally, adequately and comprehensively learning the distribution of molecular datasets remains a formidable task. In this paper, we delve into the intricate entry-wise modules in vanilla flows, introducing an effective variation of flow-based models. Our proposed approach innovatively encapsulates affine coupling transformations within normalizing flows. Furthermore, we deconstruct existing invertible flow models, integrating them with newly developed entry-wise transformations. Our experimental studies demonstrate that these proposed entry-wise modules, when incorporated into standard flow-based models, surpass other generative models in performance on various representative datasets and generation tasks. Notably, in the context of low-resourced molecular graph generation, our model achieves remarkable performance compared to its counterparts. © 2024 IEEE.

Privacy protection is one of the main approaches to improve the security and reliability of personalized course recommendation systems. However, the current privacy protection methods for personalized course recommendation mainly focus on data protection, but ignore the potential privacy leakage that may be caused by the system behavior. In addition, privacy protection is not fully considered in the initial phases of system development and design. To address this issue, this paper presents a methodology for detecting privacy leakage in personalized course recommendation systems using the process algebra Pi-Calculus. Firstly, the basic semantics and evolution rules of Pi-Calculuss as well as the definition of mutual simulation techniques are introduced. Then the personalized course recommendation system is mapped to a process algebra Pi-Calculus, a formal description and analysis of the interaction behavior of the components of the personalized course recommendation system is given, and finally a framework for privacy leakage detection is introduced and applied to a case study to detect whether there is privacy leakage behavior in the recommendation system by the inter-simulation technique. Experiments demonstrate that the method can effectively detect potential privacy leakage problems in the early stages of system development. © 2024 IEEE.

High-resolution multispectral (HRMS) images combine spatial and spectral information originating from panchromatic (PAN) and reduced-resolution multispectral (LRMS) images. Pansharpening performs well and is widely used to obtain HRMS images. However, most pansharpening approaches determine the ratio of PAN and LRMS images through direct interpolation, which may introduce artifacts and distort the color of the fused results. To address this issue, an unsupervised progressive pansharpening framework, MSBANet, is proposed, which adopts a multistage fusion strategy. Each stage contains an attention interactive extraction module (AIEM) and a multiscale bilateral fusion module (MBFM). The AIEM extracts spatial and spectral features from input images and captures the correlations between features. The MBFM can efficiently integrate information from the AIEM and improve MSBANet context awareness. We design a hybrid loss function that enhances the ability of the fusion network to store spectral and texture details. In qualitative and quantitative experimental studies on four datasets, MSBANet outperformed state-of-the-art pansharpening techniques. The code will be released. © 2024 IEEE.

A Framework to Analyze the Impact of Maps on VANET Simulation

Mobility models play an important role on VANET simulation, which has been discussed in many studies. However, few studies have analyzed the impact of maps. We find that maps can greatly influence simulation results. We present a framework to help researchers analyze the impact of maps. We regard intersections in the map as virtual nodes and propose Virtual node coverage (VNC) and Virtual connected components (VCC) as two metrics to estimate the impact of maps. Through the-oretical analysis and extensive simulations, we show that our approach can be applied to various scenarios and researchers can use our approach to analyze the impact of maps on VANET simulation.
