This paper presents an Integrated Physics-DataBased (IPDB) modeling and control scheme of the combined longitudinal-lateral vehicle dynamics. A nonlinear bicycle vehicle model is used to derive the linear parameter-varying (LPV) system representation, where four vehicle motion variables are considered as scheduling parameters. Taking advantage of kernels from LPV representation, the combined longitudinal-lateral dynamics are further expressed by the data snapshots of states, inputs, and scheduling parameters, which formulate the IPDB model. After that, the IPDB model is used to design a state-feedback gain-scheduling tracking controller to follow a reference trajectory. For validation purposes, the proposed modeling and control method is implemented on a QCar experimental platform. First, the IPDB model of coupled longitudinal-lateral dynamics is derived from experimental data and is further validated with excellent model accuracy under various driving conditions. Furthermore, an IPDB model-based gain-scheduling controller is synthesized and compared with the baseline Stanley controller in the experiment to track a given trajectory. The experimental results demonstrate that the IPDB model-based controller renders better tracking control performance.

Developing advanced sorbents for efficient aromatic VOCs sorption from humid conditions are highly desired. In this work, a series of tunable and functional ionic liquids embedded hyper-crosslinked polymers (ILHCPs) containing different structures of anion-functional ionic liquids (ILs) with 1,4-dichloroxylene (DCX) as the crosslinker were designed and prepared for highly efficient gaseous toluene adsorption under humidity. These ILHCPs could achieve high surface area (600~900 m2 g−1), high micropore volume (0.1~0.3 cm3 g−1), small average pore size (4~5 nm), and large water contact angle (up to 110°) through tuning the anion structures and the initial IL:DCX molar ratio. Gaseous toluene adsorption isotherms on typical ILHCPs were tested under 298, 308, and 318 K, and a dual-site Langmuir-Freundlich (DSLF) model was used for well describing adsorption isotherms, which can be divided into two contributions for site I and site II. The isosteric heats of gaseous toluene adsorption were calculated. Furthermore, toluene adsorption under different humidity conditions were also tested. Compared with DCX-based self-condensed HCP, toluene adsorption capacity of ILHCPs remained steadily (270 mg g−1) even under 80% humidity. To our best knowledge, this is the first example of tuning functional ILHCPs for efficient H2O-tolerant gaseous toluene adsorption. The method may also open a door to achieving high adsorption efficiency of other volatile organic compounds by functional IL-based porous materials. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Multi-object Tracking by Detection and Query: an efficient end-to-end manner

Multi-object tracking is advancing through two dominant paradigms: traditional tracking by detection and newly emerging tracking by query. In this work, we fuse them together and propose the tracking-by-detection-and-query paradigm, which is achieved by a Learnable Associator. Specifically, the basic information interaction module and the content-position alignment module are proposed for thorough information Interaction among object queries. Tracking results are directly Decoded from these queries. Hence, we name the method as LAID. Compared to tracking-by-query models, LAID achieves competitive tracking accuracy with notably higher training efficiency. With regard to tracking-by-detection methods, experimental results on DanceTrack show that LAID significantly surpasses the state-of-the-art heuristic method by 3.9% on HOTA metric and 6.1% on IDF1 metric. On SportsMOT, LAID also achieves the best score on HOTA metric. By holding low training cost, strong tracking capabilities, and an elegant end-to-end approach all at once, LAID presents a forward-looking direction for the field. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. With the rapid development of deep neural networks, underwater vision plays an increasingly important role in the underwater robotic operation. However, the scarce underwater datasets greatly limit the performance of deep learning on underwater visual tasks, further hindering the applications of underwater operation. To solve this problem, we propose an underwater image synthesis method, which can directly convert the natural light image into the synthetic underwater image end-to-end. Particularly, a pixel-level self-supervised training strategy is designed to maximize the structural similarity between the synthesized and real images, through training the real underwater images. Finally, extensive experiments are carried out, and the obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our methods by quantitative and qualitative comparisons. The proposed underwater image synthesis method offers a valuable sight for underwater vision and manipulating control. © 2021 IEEE.

VistaScenario: Interaction Scenario Engineering for Vehicles with Intelligent systems for Transport Automation

Intelligent vehicles and autonomous driving systems rely on scenario engineering for intelligence and index (I&I), calibration and certification (C&C), and verification and validation (V&V). To extract and index scenarios, various vehicle interactions are worthy of much attention, and deserve refined descriptions and labels. However, existing methods cannot cope well with the problem of scenario classification and labeling with vehicle interactions as the core. In this paper, we propose VistaScenario framework to conduct interaction scenario engineering for vehicles with intelligent systems for transport automation. Based on the summarized basic types of vehicle interactions, we slice scenario data stream into a series of segments via spatiotemporal scenario evolution tree. We also propose the scenario metric Graph-DTW based on Graph Computation Tree and Dynamic Time Warping to conduct refined scenario comparison and labeling. The extreme interaction scenarios and corner cases can be efficiently filtered and extracted. Moreover, with naturalistic scenario datasets, testing examples on trajectory prediction model demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of our framework. VistaScenario can provide solid support for the usage and indexing of scenario data, further promote the development of intelligent vehicles and transport automation. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. This paper studies the classification problem of Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) attacks and proposes a comprehensive periodic feature extraction method based on sliding window division. A new data processing approach is proposed. Considering the characteristics of APT attacks, the life cycle of APT traffic data is divided into three stages. The traffic data from each stage is sampled in a piecewise manner and divided into separate training and testing sets, and then the training and testing subsets are merged. For the integrated sets, a sliding window-based partition approach is employed to obtain training and testing window samples, while extracting features from each individual sample. Then, this paper proposes a differential-based periodic feature extraction methodology to capture the dynamic information present in APT traffic and integrate it with fundamental static features, thereby forming effective comprehensive features. After combining these static and differential features, a comprehensive foundation is established for model training. Finally, the effectiveness of the algorithm is verified using decision tree model, and its superiority is demonstrated by comparing it with traditional partition methods based on data streams.

Domain adaptive object detection (DAOD) aims to adapt the detector from a labelled source domain to an unlabelled target domain. In recent years, DAOD has attracted massive attention since it can alleviate performance degradation due to the large shift of data distributions in the wild. To align distributions between domains, adversarial learning is widely used in existing DAOD methods. However, the decision boundary for the adversarial domain discriminator may be inaccurate, causing the model biased towards the source domain. To alleviate this bias, we propose a novel Frequency-based Image Translation (FIT) framework for DAOD. First, by keeping domain-invariant frequency components and swapping domain-specific ones, we conduct image translation to reduce domain shift at the input level. Second, hierarchical adversarial feature learning is utilized to further mitigate the domain gap at the feature level. Finally, we design a joint loss to train the entire network in an end-to-end manner without extra training to obtain translated images. Extensive experiments on three challenging DAOD benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper aims to investigate the stabilization problem of stochastic linear system via path-dependent state-feedback control. For the given stochastic linear system, a novel feedback control is designed with the path-dependent information of the system states, and the control gains are determined by the stochastic algebraic Riccati equation. To prove that path-dependent control can drive the stochastic linear system to be exponentially stable, a novel Lyapunov function is proposed. Combined with the general theory on stability of stochastic system, it is shown that stochastic system will be stabilized in mean-square via path-dependent control.

This paper investigates the problem of stability analysis for the uncertain linear systems with time-varying delay. Firstly, an uncertain linear system model considering time-varying delay is established. Then based on the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) method, a novel robust delay-dependent stability criterion is proposed, which is benefited by a new augmented LKF with more effective time-delay information and the use of a tighter integral inequality to estimate functional derivative. The stability criterion obtained is less conservative. At last, a numerical example shows the superiority and effectiveness that the method used in this paper.

Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is extensively employed for subsurface road target detection, offering benefits such as convenience, nondestructive testing, rapid data acquisition, and superior resolution. Despite these advantages, interpreting GPR data often depends on the expertise of professionals, resulting in low detection efficiency and low accuracy. To address these challenges, this study introduces an intelligent detection technique for GPR images, utilizing an enhanced YOLOv5 framework. First, considering the problems of the small amount of GPR image datasets and the unclear characteristics caused by the complex underground media, a Dense-C3 module is built by utilizing the structure of DenseNet to enhance the network's capability for extracting features. Subsequently, a channel and spatial hybrid attention module is introduced into the backbone for feature refinement and improving the efficiency. Finally, the multi-class focal loss function is devised to enhance the precision in cases of imbalanced sample classes. Experimental results show that the proposed model surpasses the original YOLOv5 model and various contemporary advanced models.
