In this paper, we establish a robust optimal control law for a class of continuous-time uncertain nonlinear systems by using a neural-network-based model-free policy iteration approach. The robust control law of the original uncertain nonlinear system is derived by adding a feedback gain to the optimal control law of the nominal system. It is proven that this robust control law can achieve optimality under a specified cost function. Then, the neural-network-based model-free policy iteration algorithm is developed to solve the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation corresponding to the nominal system without system dynamics. The actor-critic technique and the least squares implementation method are used to obtain the optimal control policy of the nominal system. A numerical simulation is given to verify the applicability of the present robust optimal control scheme.

A 1-dodecanethiol-based phase-transfer protocol is developed for the extraction of noble metal ions from aqueous solution to a hydrocarbon phase, which calls for first mixing the aqueous metal ion solution with an ethanolic solution of 1-dodecanethiol, and then extracting the coordination compounds formed between noble metal ions and 1-dodecanethiol into a non-polar organic solvent. A number of characterization techniques, including inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis demonstrate that this protocol could be applied to extract a wide variety of noble metal ions from water to dichlorometh- ane with an efficiency of 〉96%, and has high selectivity for the separation of the noble metal ions from other transition metals. It is therefore an attractive alternative for the extraction of noble metals from water, soil, or waste printed circuit boards.

This paper considers the problem of a missile intercepting a maneuvering target with demand for fast finite-time convergence and anti-chattering. Based on the widely used proportional navigation strategy, a novel integrated guidance and control(IGC) scheme is proposed, which is formulated as a second-order affine nonlinear system with uncertainties. Then the smooth adaptive nonsingular terminal sliding mode control(SANTSMC) method which is proposed in our pervious work is applied to this IGC scheme. By virtue of the SANTSMC method, the uncertainties with unknown bounds can be addressed, fast finite-time convergence can be achieved, and the chattering problem can be well solved.

In this paper, a force/position control method is proposed for constrained reconfigurable manipulators based on extended state observer (ESO). First, the reduced-order dynamic model of the reconfigurable manipulator is formulated in the presence of the external constraint. Second, a backstepping sliding mode force/position controller is designed with extended state observer, which is used to estimate the overall model uncertainty, and the desired position and force can be tracked accurately. The stability of the system is proved by using the Lyapunov theory. Finally, simulations are performed by using the two Dofs of reconfigurable manipulators with different configurations to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Among the mathematical optimization algorithms, simplex algorithm is a popular and practical algorithm which was listed as one of the top 10 algorithms of the twentieth century by the journal Computing in Science and Engineering. Although simplex algorithm is efficient in the linear programming, the quality of convergence is unacceptable in practice as a numerical breakdown of the algorithm, even for smooth and well-behaved functions. On the other hand, full convergence might be seen in genetic algorithms(GA) using only crossover. So in this paper we combine the GA and simplex algorithm by initializing simplex from the final individual in GA and getting the converged result through simplex algorithm thereafter. A case study in estimating gas emission shows noteworthy improvement of efficiency and stability, compared with GA or simplex algorithm.

Proven to be a viable and cost effective solution for ubiquitous internet access, wireless access network have proliferated at homes, offices, and cafes all over the globe. Being placed at the very edge of the computer network, with increasingly powerful computational ability, wireless access points are more and more suitable for deploying configurable and personalized services for mobile clients. In this paper we propose an intelligent wireless service framework over enhanced wireless access points(refered to as Smrart Wireless Access Point) that prefetch and aggregate web contents on the wired side based on user profiles and delivery it to the user in a wireless network environment. We modify the source code of browser to enhance its data collection capabilities and develop some practical smartphone applications on the mobile client-side. Additionally, we perform some caching stratagy and algorithms when a user have created considerable usage data or rated enough information. Measuring the download latency shows that DNS caching and content caching yields significant improvements in page load time. Prefetching mechanism, recommend system and some rich featured wireless local applications all benefit users much.

In this paper, an approximate constrained optimal guidance law is proposed for Mars entry vehicles guidance. Firstly, the original guidance of Mars entry vehicle is transformed into a fixed-time optimal tracking control problem, which depends on the solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman(HJB) equation. Considering the case the control input is constrained, a generalized non-quadratic performance index is defined. In general, the HJB equation is a nonlinear partial differential equation that is difficult or even impossible to be solved analytically. To overcome the difficulty, neural network(NN) is used to solve the HJB equation approximately. Subsequently, the Monte-Carlo integration method and Latin Hypercube Sampling(LHS) are introduced to compute the integrals on multi-dimensional domains. Finally, the Monte-Carlo simulation results on the Mars entry vehicle demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness and it has been the topic of massive studies to explore the underlying mechanisms of the disease. Resting-state neuroimaging studies have been widely applied to investigate the functional damage of the brain, but little is known about the alterations of the interhemispheric resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). In the present study, we used a newly developed voxel-mirrored homotopic connectivity (VMHC) method to explore the interhemispheric RSFC of the brain in POAG patients. The result showed decreased VMHC in the precuneus and the occipital lobe including calcarine and cuneus, as well as increased VMHC in the lingual gyrus, insula, supramarginal gyrus, and frontal gyrus. Meanwhile, we found the mean VMHC in precuneus was negatively correlated (r=-0.551, P=0.041) with Cup-to-disk Ratio. Significant differences between POAG patients and normal controls reveal the altered brain regions and the functional damage, strengthening the understanding of the primary open-angle glaucoma.
