In steel industry, production planning of continuous casting and hot rolling are connected closely with each other. In addition, they are constrained by many key factors such as due date, process routes, and production capacity. Therefore, it is necessary to solve the production planning problems for continuous casting and hot rolling in an integrated way. In this research, we model the integrated production planning problem for continuous casting and hot rolling by mixed integer programming with the objective of minimizing the setup time and maximizing the utilization of devices, based on which a heuristic algorithm is developed to solve the problem. Numerical experiments are conducted to evaluate the proposed algorithm based on the data acquired from a steel plant in Jiangsu Province, China, and the results show that the proposed algorithm works quite well in integrated production planning of continuous casting and hot rolling.

In this article, we present the first comprehensive empirical analysis of HFS, focusing on the scope of HFS activities, the patterns of HFS crowd collaboration process, and the characteristics of HFS participant networks. A survey of HFS participants was conducted to provide an in-depth understanding of the HFS community and various factors that motivate these participants to contribute. This article also advocates a new stream of Web science and social computing research that will be important in predicting the future growth and use of the World Wide Web.

Tracking law designed for future Mars entry missions is investigated in this article. For precision landing, the nonlinear entry dynamics, complex uncertainties and input saturation constraints are unavoidable problems. Facing these challenges, the Mars entry trajectory tracking scheme via constrained multi-model predictive control(CMPC) is employed. The CMPC is made up of some constrained predictive control(CPC) in different time domain during the Mars entry mission. Each constrained predictive controller consists of a linearized prediction model(obtained by linearizing at different operating point), feedback correction for active model mismatch rejection caused by the complex uncertainties, and constrained rolling optimization for a smooth control input under a saturation constraint. Monte Carlo simulations demonstrate the effectiveness and excellence of the proposed method under the saturation constraint of input and uncertainties of initial state and aerodynamic parameters such as atmospheric density, ballistic coefficient and lift-to-drag ratio.

It is well known that vertical take-off and landing(VTOL) aircraft system is a complex multi-variable nonlinear system with large disturbances. In order to control the VTOL aircraft system ef ciently, it is necessary to explore new optimal control methods to stabilize the system states. In this paper, we apply dual heuristic programming(DHP) to design the optimal controller for VTOL aircraft system. As a framework of approximate dynamic programming(ADP) algorithm, DHP consists of three modules: model, critic and actor. The critic module output partial derivatives of cost function with respect to state. It has many advantages such as good dynamics, fast convergence rate, and high control resolution. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of optimal controller for VTOL aircraft system based on the DHP algorithm.

In this paper, we propose LinedCut: a novel method for interactive image segmentation which requires only a single line drawing to identify the object of interest in the image. The handy interaction mode can address the problem of object scale very well. Our approach consists of the following three steps: first, a given image is over-segmented into superpixels using superpixel algorithm; secondly, a merging technique based on bag-of-color feature and k-means is applied to merge similar adjacent superpixel pairs; finally, a graph-cut based approach which exploits user interaction information is introduced to get the final segmentation result. Despite its simplicity, we show that the LinedCut method is able to achieve a performance comparable to the state-of-the-art. The method can be easily developed by replacing any one method among the three steps with other methods.
