Sparse coding has been used for target appearance modeling and applied successfully in visual tracking. However, noise may be inevitably introduced into the representation due to background clutter. To cope with this problem, we propose a saliency weighted sparse coding appearance model for visual tracking. Firstly, a spectral filtering based visual attention computational model, which combines both bottom-up and top-down visual attention, is proposed to calculate saliency map. Secondly, pooling operation in sparse coding is weighted by calculated saliency map to help target representation focus on distinctive features and suppress background clutter. Extensive experiments on a recently proposed tracking benchmark demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art methods in tracking objects under background clutter.

Images taken by different sensors at different time instant with different resolutions are formulated by state space models, and are fused by use of Multiscale Kalman Filter(MKF). The effectiveness of the presented algorithm is shown by comparing it with the wavelet based method through experiments, where four performance measures are used. The performance evaluation indices are the root mean square errors(RMSE), the information entropy(Entropy), the space frequency(SF) and the space visibility(SV). Theretical analysis and experimental results show the effectiveness of the presented algorithm.

Stable walking of bipedal humanoid is an crucial and challenge issue of research in bipedal robots. And the structure of shoe sole plays a significant role in preventing someone from slipping in human life. The humanoid robot foot often skid while the robot is walking fast, and it may cause serious harmfulness. This study presents some foot pads for humanoid robot to improve its stability and reliability. First, anti-skid foot for a humanoid robot is proposed in this paper. Second, the material and pattern of foot pads are selected. Finally, the better foot pads are chosen by several experiments and the effectiveness of the new foot pads is confirmed by comparison experiments.

In this paper synchronization of both the orientation and velocity for a group of unicycle robots is studied. It is assumed that a robot can only detect and obtain information from those robots that lie in the proximity (within certain distance). A minimum dwell time is imposed on the updating of neighborhood relation in the controller in order to avoid introducing chattering in the closed-loop system that may be caused by abrupt changes of the relation, which as a consequence implies that the neighbor information will be updated only at discrete time instants in the control. In the paper a distributed feedback control law is designed for each agent, and a sufficient condition for uniformly and independently distributed initial states is provided for reaching the synchronization, which depends on the neighborhood radius, the maximum initial translational velocity and the dwell time.

This paper investigates the fractional-order active disturbance rejection control for the synchronization of two different fractional-order chaotic systems. By the fractional-order extended state observers, the nonlinear dynamics in the synchronization error equations for each subsystems are estimated in real time. Compensating the nonlinear estimations into controllers, the active disturbance rejection controllers are designed to achieve the synchronization. Finally, two examples of synchronization issues on different fractional-order chaotic systems are provided to verify that the fractional-order ADRC is irrelevant with the nonlinear dynamics in the fractional-order chaotic systems. The proposed controllers can achieve the synchronization and estimate the nonlinear dynamics effectively for different fractional-order chaotic systems.
