Protein-protein interactions are of great significance for human to understand the functional mechanisms of *** the rapid development of high-throughput genomic technologies,massive protein-protein interaction(PPI)data have been generated,making it very difficult to analyze them *** address this problem,this paper presents a distributed framework by reimplementing one of state-of-the-art algorithms,i.e.,CoFex,using *** do so,an in-depth analysis of its limitations is conducted from the perspectives of efficiency and memory consumption when applying it for large-scale PPI data analysis and *** solutions are then devised to overcome these *** particular,we adopt a novel tree-based data structure to reduce the heavy memory consumption caused by the huge sequence information of *** that,its procedure is modified by following the MapReduce framework to take the prediction task distributively.A series of extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of our framework in terms of both efficiency and *** results well demonstrate that the proposed framework can considerably improve its computational efficiency by more than two orders of magnitude while retaining the same high accuracy.

Lyapunov-guided Deep Reinforcement Learning for Semantic-aware AoI Minimization in UAV-assisted Wireless Networks

This paper investigates an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted semantic network where the ground users (GUs) periodically capture and upload the sensing information to a base station (BS) via UAVs’ relaying. Both the GUs and the UAVs can extract semantic information from large-size raw data and transmit it to the BS for recovery. Smaller-size semantic information reduces latency and improves information freshness, while larger-size semantic information enables more accurate data reconstruction at the BS, preserving the value of original information. We introduce a novel semantic-aware age-of-information (SAoI) metric to capture both information freshness and semantic importance, and then formulate a time-averaged SAoI minimization problem by jointly optimizing the UAV-GU association, the semantic extraction, and the UAVs’ trajectories. We decouple the original problem into a series of subproblems via the Lyapunov framework and then use hierarchical deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to solve each subproblem. Specifically, the UAV-GU association is determined by DRL, followed by the optimization module updating the semantic extraction strategy and UAVs’ deployment. Simulation results show that the hierarchical structure improves learning efficiency. Moreover, it achieves low AoI through semantic extraction while ensuring minimal loss of original information, outperforming the existing baselines. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

SpatioTemporal Learning for Human Pose Estimation in Sparsely-Labeled Videos

Human pose estimation in videos remains a challenge, largely due to the reliance on extensive manual annotation of large datasets, which is expensive and labor-intensive. Furthermore, existing approaches often struggle to capture long-range temporal dependencies and overlook the complementary relationship between temporal pose heatmaps and visual features. To address these limitations, we introduce STDPose, a novel framework that enhances human pose estimation by learning spatiotemporal dynamics in sparsely-labeled videos. STDPose incorporates two key innovations: 1) A novel Dynamic-Aware Mask to capture long-range motion context, allowing for a nuanced understanding of pose changes. 2) A system for encoding and aggregating spatiotemporal representations and motion dynamics to effectively model spatiotemporal relationships, improving the accuracy and robustness of pose estimation. STDPose establishes a new performance benchmark for both video pose propagation (i.e., propagating pose annotations from labeled frames to unlabeled frames) and pose estimation tasks, across three large-scale evaluation datasets. Additionally, utilizing pseudo-labels generated by pose propagation, STDPose achieves competitive performance with only 26.7% labeled data. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In recent years, the development of deep learning technology has led to widespread attention on Vision Transformer (ViT) as an emerging image classification method. Remote sensing image classification is an important task in the field of remote sensing, with extensive application prospects. This paper aims to explore the remote sensing image classification method based on Vision Transformer, addressing the limitations of traditional convolutional neural networks in terms of global perception capability, context information retrieval, and positional encoding. The classification performance of the Vision Transformer model is evaluated and compared on remote sensing datasets. Vision Transformer is a deep neural network model based on self-attention mechanism that can capture the global context information in images and has achieved remarkable performance in various computer vision tasks. Furthermore, experimental results demonstrate that the remote sensing image classification method based on Vision Transformer exhibits outstanding accuracy and generalization ability. Compared to traditional convolutional neural networks, it can better capture the global features in remote sensing images and has better scalability when dealing with large-scale remote sensing image data. Experimental results on different remote sensing image datasets show that the model performs well compared to state-of-the-art methods. Specifically, Vision Transformer achieves average classification accuracies of 95.41%, 98.26%, 93.74% and 95.25% on the AID, UC-Merced, NWPU-RESISC45 and Optimal31 datasets, respectively. © 2023 ACM.

In recent years, the demand for facial expression recognition applications has increased rapidly, and its research has received extensive attention from researchers. However, the current recognition methods based on deep learning ignore the idea of multiple head attention and semantic consistency, resulting in the model only paying attention to the local area of the feature map. In addition, the model's inconsistent attention to the images before and after the flip, resulting the poor robustness, poor interpretation, and other shortcomings in the model. To address the above problems, we propose an Affinity Separation Loss (ASLoss), which improves the separability of samples through clustering. Moreover, a Separate Multi-head Attention block (SMA), and a Zonal Loss (ZLoss) are also designed to decentralize the model's attention. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed MACNet method achieves competitive recognition performance on two public datasets RAF-DB and FERPlus. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Gb-Dbscan: A Fast Granular-Ball Based Dbscan Clustering Algorithm

DBSCAN algorithm identifies high-density connected areas as clusters, so that it has advantages in discovering arbitrary-shaped clusters. However, it has difficulty in adjusting parameters and its time complexity is O(n2). Granular-ball (GB) is a coarse grained representation of data. It is on the basis of the assumption that an object and its local neighbors have similar distribution and they have high possibility of belonging to the same class. Inspired by the idea of granular-ball, we introduce it into unsupervised learning and use it to improve the efficiency of DBSCAN, called GB-DBSCAN. Firstly, we use k-nearest neighbor (KNN) to generate granular-balls, which is a bottom-up strategy, and describe granular-balls according to their centers and radius. Then, the granular-balls are divided into Core-GB and Non-Core-GB according to their density. After that, the Core-GBs are merged into clusters according to the idea of DBSCAN and the Non-Core-GBs are assigned to appropriate clusters. Since the granular-balls' number is much smaller than the size of the objects in a data, the running time of DBSCAN is greatly reduced. By comparing with state-of-the-art clustering algorithms, the proposed algorithm can get similar or better clustering result in much less running time. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

As a powerful forgery operation in the image content security area, image inpainting based on deep generative networks can yield visually appealing outputs but often produces ambiguous artifacts, especially in boundary and high semantic areas. To address this issue, a novel end-to-end network with gradient semantics and spatial-smooth attention (GS-SSA) is proposed, which combines a gradient learning network and an image inpainting network. The gradient learning network is meant to properly anticipate the gradient semantics in the hole region and get a complete gradient semantic map. The image inpainting network utilizes the complete gradient semantic map to better repair the missing pixels and obtain the final inpainting results. Moreover, spatial-smooth attention is introduced into the image inpainting network, considering both the spatial structural relations and the surrounding information in the hole region. Experimental results on public datasets show the superiority of the proposed method, especially in large-hole region tasks. © 2023 Elsevier Inc.

Optimizing Human Pose Estimation Through Focused Human and Joint Regions

Human pose estimation has given rise to a broad spectrum of novel and compelling applications, including action recognition, sports analysis, as well as surveillance. However, accurate video pose estimation remains an open challenge. One aspect that has been overlooked so far is that existing methods learn motion clues from all pixels rather than focusing on the target human body, making them easily misled and disrupted by unimportant information such as background changes or movements of other people. Additionally, while the current Transformer-based pose estimation methods has demonstrated impressive performance with global modeling, they struggle with local context perception and precise positional identification. In this paper, we try to tackle these challenges from three aspects: (1) We propose a bilayer Human-keypoint Mask module that performs coarse-to-fine visual token refinement, which gradually zooms in on the target human body and keypoints while masking out unimportant figure regions. (2) We further introduce a novel deformable cross attention mechanism and a bidirectional separation strategy to adaptively aggregate spatial and temporal motion clues from constrained surrounding contexts. (3) We mathematically formulate the deformable cross attention, constraining that the model focuses solely on the regions centered at the target person body. Empirically, our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on three large-scale benchmark datasets. A remarkable highlight is that our method achieves an 84.8 mean Average Precision (mAP) on the challenging wrist joint, which significantly outperforms the 81.5 mAP achieved by the current state-of-the-art method on the PoseTrack2017 dataset. Elastic scaling in response to changes on demand is a main benefit of serverless computing. When bursty workloads arrive, a serverless platform launches many new containers and initializes function environments (known as cold starts), which incurs significant startup latency. To reduce cold starts, platforms usually pause a container after it serves a request, and reuse this container for subsequent requests. However, this reuse strategy cannot efficiently reduce cold starts because the schedulers are agnostic of container lifecycle. For example, it may ignore soon available containers or evict soon needed containers. We propose a container lifecycle-aware scheduling strategy for serverless computing, CAS. The key idea is to control distribution of requests and determine creation or eviction of containers according to different lifecycle phases of containers. We implement a prototype of CAS on OpenWhisk. Our evaluation shows that CAS reduces 81% cold starts and therefore brings a 63% reduction at 95th percentile latency compared with native scheduling strategy in OpenWhisk when there is worker contention between workloads, and does not add significant performance overhead. © 2021 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Edge computing has been getting a momentum with ever-increasing data at the edge of the network. In particular, huge amounts of video data and their real-time processing requirements have been increasingly hindering the traditional cloud computing approach due to high bandwidth consumption and high latency. Edge computing in essence aims to overcome this hindrance by processing most video data making use of edge servers, such as small-scale on-premises server clusters, server-grade computing resources at mobile base stations and even mobile devices like smartphones and tablets;hence, the term edge-based video analytics. However, the actual realization of such analytics requires more than the simple, collective use of edge servers. In this paper, we survey state-of-the-art works on edge-based video analytics with respect to applications, architectures, techniques, resource management, security and privacy. We provide a comprehensive and detailed review on what works, what doesn't work and why. These findings give insights and suggestions for next generation edge-based video analytics.
