Network softwarization is a breakthrough in designing modern networks and providing numerous new network operations and services. This change is exemplified by Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV). As a result, the combination of SDN and NFV (SDN/NFV) frameworks and individual SDN and NFV frameworks have gained substantial traction in network security over the past decade, significantly supporting on-demand protection measures. However, the inherent security shortcomings of SDN, NFV, and SDN/NFV frameworks provide the fundamental issue in implementing security procedures via network softwarization. To solve this issue, we present a Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP)-powered Zero-Trust Architecture (ZTA) to improve security in the SDN/NFV-enabled campus network holistically. In addition to this, we also propose a threat model and quantitatively assess the suggested approach's performance and security. Furthermore, we highlight potential zero-trust network security function implementations in SDN/NFV-enabled infrastructure to increase protection for endpoint devices, network resources, and flows for detecting threats and responding effectively with minimal latency and overhead. © 2023, The Authors. The low-altitude economy (LAE), driven by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other aircraft, has revolutionized fields such as transportation, agriculture, and environmental monitoring. In the upcoming six-generation (6G) era, UAV-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) is particularly crucial in challenging environments such as mountainous or disaster-stricken areas. The computation task offloading problem is one of the key issues in UAV-assisted MEC, primarily addressing the trade-off between minimizing the task delay and the energy consumption of the UAV. In this paper, we consider a UAV-assisted MEC system where the UAV carries the edge servers to facilitate task offloading for ground devices (GDs), and formulate a calculation delay and energy consumption multi-objective optimization problem (CDECMOP) to simultaneously improve the performance and reduce the cost of the system. Then, by modeling the formulated problem as a multi-objective Markov decision process (MOMDP), we propose a multi-objective deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm within an evolutionary framework to dynamically adjust the weights and obtain non-dominated policies. Moreover, to ensure stable convergence and improve performance, we incorporate a target distribution learning (TDL) algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can better balance multiple optimization objectives and obtain superior non-dominated solutions compared to other methods. NOMANet: A Graph Neural Network Enabled Power Allocation Scheme for NOMA

This paper proposes a graph neural network (GNN) enabled power allocation scheme for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks. In particular, a downlink scenario with one base station serving multiple users over several subchannels is considered, where the number of subchannels is less than the number of users, and thus, some users have to share a subchannel via NOMA. Our goal is to maximize the system energy efficiency subject to the rate requirement of each user and the overall budget. We propose a deep learning based approach termed NOMA net (NOMANet) to address the considered problem. Particularly, NOMANet is GNN-based, which maps channel state information to the desired power allocation scheme for all subchannels. The multi-head attention and the residual/dense connection are adopted to enhance the feature extraction. The output of NOMANet is guaranteed to be feasible via the customized activation function and the penalty method. Numerical results show that NOMANet trained unsupervised achieves performance close to that of the successive convex approximation method but with a faster inference speed by about 700 times. This paper presents an interactive motion control method based on reinforcement learning, designed to assist children with autism who have social motor impairments through a mirror game intervention. The virtual teacher uses the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) algorithm to optimize its actions, guiding the participant to follow a Lissajous trajectory. To ensure safety, a motion-correction mechanism was developed, which automatically adjusts actions when the predicted trajectory surpasses predefined safety boundaries. The reward function considers both the distance between the virtual teacher and the target trajectory, as well as the distance between the virtual teacher and the participant, with dynamic adjustments applied by the motion-correction mechanism. Experimental results demonstrate that the virtual teacher effectively guides the participant towards the target trajectory while adhering to safety constraints. © 2025 IEEE.

Detecting Backdoors During the Inference Stage Based on Corruption Robustness Consistency

Deep neural networks are proven to be vulnerable to backdoor attacks. Detecting the trigger samples during the inference stage, i.e., the test-time trigger sample detection, can prevent the backdoor from being triggered. However, existing detection methods often require the defenders to have high accessibility to victim models, extra clean data, or knowledge about the appearance of backdoor triggers, limiting their practicality. In this paper, we propose the test-time corruption robustness consistency evaluation (TeCo)1, a novel test-time trigger sample detection method that only needs the hard-label outputs of the victim models without any extra information. Our journey begins with the intriguing observation that the backdoor-infected models have similar performance across different image corruptions for the clean images, but perform discrepantly for the trigger samples. Based on this phenomenon, we design TeCo to evaluate test-time robustness consistency by calculating the deviation of severity that leads to predictions' transition across different corruptions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that compared with state-of-the-art defenses, which even require either certain information about the trigger types or accessibility of clean data, TeCo outperforms them on different backdoor attacks, datasets, and model architectures, enjoying a higher AUROC by 10% and 5 times of stability. The objective of sequential recommendation is to predict user preferences for items based on historical interaction sequences. This process often leads to a phenomenon known as popularity bias, where popular items are excessively recommended. Conformity, the tendency of users to follow popular items, is a significant factor contributing to this issue. Previous methods have not adequately disentangled conformity and interest, failing to accurately model users’ true intent. To address this, we propose a novel Disentangled Interest and Conformity Sequential Recommendation method (DICSRec) to mitigate the popularity bias. Specifically, we first design an Intent Encoding Module (IEM), which includes two independent encoders for conformity and interest to model their representations. To better disentangle these two factors, we design a disentangling task with proxy-based self-supervised learning and orthogonal regularization. Furthermore, to provide the Intent Encoding Module with more global information, we design a Global Conformity-aware Module (GCM), which supplies item popularity information and aids in enhancing user conformity representation. Lastly, recognizing the varying significance of user conformity and interest, we propose an adaptive Fusion Prediction Module (FPM) that adaptively aggregates user conformity and interest representations for final prediction. Experiments on four real-world datasets consistently demonstrate the superiority of our method over advanced sequential recommendation models. The sparse interactions between users and items have aggravated the difficulty of their representations in recommender systems. Existing methods leverage tags to alleviate the sparsity problem but ignore prevalent logical relations among items and tags (e.g., membership, hierarchy, and exclusion), which can be leveraged to enhance the accuracy of modeling user preferences and conducting recommendations. To this end, we propose to extract logical relations among item tags from existing tag taxonomies and exploit the individual strengths of the Poincaré and the Lorentz models in hyperbolic space for logical relation modeling towards enhanced recommendations. Moreover, we find that the logical relations directly extracted from existing tag taxonomies can be inaccurate and coarse. Therefore, we further devise innovative consistency-based and granularity- based weighting mechanisms based on user behavior patterns for data-driven logical relation mining that can be jointly optimized along with recommendations in an end-to-end fashion. Extensive experiments on four real-world benchmark datasets show drastic performance gains brought by our proposed framework, which constantly achieves an average of 8.25% improvement over state-of-the-art competitors regarding both Recall and NDCG metrics. Insightful case studies further demonstrate that our automatically refined logical relations are highly accurate and interpretable.

The legal judgement prediction (LJP) of judicial texts represents a multi-label text classification (MLTC) problem, which in turn involves three distinct tasks: the prediction of charges, legal articles, and terms of penalty. Nevertheless, extant multi-label text classification models tend to eschew the consideration of multiple correlations and semantic information between labels when predicting judicial texts, which may result in the loss of pertinent information. Furthermore, these models do not take full advantage of the local and overall information of the labels in the process of selecting appropriate labels for the text using the multi-head attention mechanism. To address these issues, we propose a new model, BGFLFF, which explores label correlation and semantics among the three tasks by employing Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) and multi-head attention mechanisms. In particular, we propose a Bi-Graph Fusion GCN (BGF-GCN), which fuses the co-occurrence matrix of labels with the cosine similarity matrix, thereby fully exploiting the multiple correlations between labels. Furthermore, prior to embedding the tags, the interpretations of the labels are obtained via Google in order to enhance the semantic information between the labels. To further reinforce the interconnections between labels and text and more effectively comprehend the interrelationships between the three tasks, we propose a Multi-Head Label Feature Fusion Attentional Mechanism (MH-LFFAtt), which assigns distinct weights to the pertinent label information in the text by fusing the local and overall features of the labels. The experimental results demonstrate that the F1 score exhibits an improvement of up to ${2. 2 8 \%}$ and a minimum of ${1. 2 9 \%}$ across the various tasks of the two datasets. This evidence substantiates the assertion that BGFLFF outperforms the existing baseline model.

Sequential Recommender Systems (SRS), leveraging the temporal information from users' behaviors, have noticeably improved user experience against traditional systems. However, these behaviors often follow long-tail distribution, making the systems biased towards popular items (i.e., popularity bias). Moreover, popularity bias would amplify the neglect of long-tail recommendations, thereby sharpening the long-tail problem. Previous researches usually address these challenges independently, focusing on reducing the over-recommendation of popular items or enhancing the representation quality of tail items. Indeed, it is possible to incorporate their merits to achieve the best of both worlds. Thus, we propose a novel and unified framework, named Collaborative Solution to Long tailed problem and Popularity bias (CSLP), to tackle both the long-tail problem and popularity bias simultaneously. To achieve this, we first introduce a representation enhancement module featuring dual generators to enhance user and item representations, particularly for those in the tail. On the other hand, a debiasing module incorporating an Inverse Propensity Score (IPS) with a clipping strategy is introduced to further alleviate the popularity bias. Specifically, this clipping strategy demonstrates a clear decrease in the original IPS method's variance, effectively improving the recommendation for stability and accuracy. Experiments on three widely-used datasets show CSLP's effectiveness in solving both issues. CSLP surpasses all baselines (traditional, popularity bias, and long-tail problem) in overall performance, significantly enhancing recommendation accuracy for both tail users and items, and achieving a more balanced ratio of recommendations between popular and tail items. In this paper, we propose an iterative convolution-thresholding method (ICTM) based on prediction-correction for solving the topology optimization problem in steady-state heat transfer equations. The problem is formulated as a constrained minimization problem of the complementary energy, incorporating a perimeter/surface-area regularization term, while satisfying a steady-state heat transfer equation. The decision variables of the optimization problem represent the domains of different materials and are represented by indicator functions. The perimeter/surface-area term of the domain is approximated using Gaussian kernel convolution with indicator functions. In each iteration, the indicator function is updated using a prediction-correction approach. The prediction step is based on the variation of the objective functional by imposing the constraints, while the correction step ensures the monotonically decreasing behavior of the objective functional. Numerical results demonstrate the efficiency and robustness of our proposed method, particularly when compared to classical approaches based on the ICTM. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
