The study and application of multimodal emotion recognition have gained significant popularity in recent years, representing one of the challenging tasks in the field of affective computing. We propose a multimodal speech emotion recognition model that utilizes multiple acoustic and textual information layers. This model incorporates transcribed textual data to complement speech data and enable accurate emotion recognition. In the unimodal model, we employ AlexNet, BiGRU, and HuBERT to extract multi-layer acoustic feature information from speech, and the RoBERTa encoder to extract text features. Additionally, we perform fusion between speech and text by utilizing the co-attentive mechanism to extract complementary information across modalities and eliminate inter-modality noise. This process ultimately enhances the emotional representation of the target modality. Finally, the fused features are utilized to predict the emotion category. Our model achieved a weighted sentiment recognition accuracy of 77.41% and an unweighted accuracy of 78.66%. © 2023 SPIE.

In recent years, personalized paper grouping is a hot research topic in the field of intelligence education. In this paper, we propose an optimized deep knowledge tracking model Mul-MAKT combined with a genetic algorithm for personalized paper grouping with English practice as the target. Firstly, we use students’ records (exercise labels, response results, learning behaviors, exercise attributes) as input to the knowledge tracking model to predict students’ performance at the next moment and also to obtain students’ mastery level of knowledge points. Based on the students’ mastery levels, we adjust the students’ ability in each type of English exercise and calculate the students’ weaknesses in each type of question, so as to extract the questions from the test bank with the difficulty matching the students’ ability and containing the students’ weaknesses. © 2023 SPIE.

Many complex decision-making processes have been prosecuted with the aid of Pythagorean fuzzy distance methods. This is because the theory of Pythagorean fuzzy sets has the ability to handle the vagueness and imprecision in decision-making. Various Pythagorean fuzzy distance methods have been constructed and applied to multiple criteria decision-making. Recently, Thakur et al. developed a Pythagorean fuzzy distance method based on Euler's number by considering an incomplete number of the parameters of Pythagorean fuzzy sets. This exclusion could render the result of the distance method unreliable in real-life applications. In this work, we augment the Thakur et al:'s Pythagorean fuzzy distance method by the inclusion of the complete parameters of Pythagorean fuzzy sets for an effective interpretation. The properties of the enhanced Pythagorean fuzzy distance method are described and the method satisfies the conditions of distance function. In addition, the new method is used to discuss the selection of renewable energy source based on multiple criteria decision-making approach. Furthermore, the enhanced method is compared with other existing Pythagorean fuzzy distance methods via multiple criteria decision-making approach to show the superiority of the augmented method. © 2024 IEEE.

Video archives play a crucial role in various industries, from media and entertainment to security and surveillance. Managing these archives efficiently and securely is a growing challenge due to the increasing volume of video data being generated. In this paper, a video archive management method is presented to solve security and sensibility of the video files on blockchain. By encrypting video files and generating cryptographic hashes, the presented method can protect the integrity of the data and prevent unauthorized modifications. The method based on blockchain technology offers a compelling solution to the challenges faced in managing video archives. By combining the inherent security and transparency of blockchain with innovative data management algorithms, organizations can ensure the integrity, security, and accessibility of their video archives. © 2024 SPIE.

Power safety is closely related to people’s well-being. Electric power sectors regularly inspect and maintain power lines to guarantee people’s safe and stable use of electricity, and the current mainstream inspection method is to use UAVs for power inspection. Traditional inspection and detection methods have many shortcomings, such as high labor costs, slow inspection speed, low detection efficiency, and single detection targets. In this paper, a set of smart power inspection systems based on YOLOv7 was designed to check the common potential security risks of power lines such as bird nests, insulators, garbage, and hardware. After the detection, the detection report could be generated. The system adopted the YOLOv7 target detection algorithm. The accuracy rate of all detection targets was up to 93.9%, and the mAP @.5% reached 95.9%. Therefore, the algorithm could greatly improve the detection efficiency and greatly facilitate the electric power sectors to check power lines, so it has a high use value. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) estimates the energy usage of individual devices by analyzing the total power meter data from a household. To address the issue of decreased monitoring accuracy with an increasing number of electricity meters, this paper proposes a solution for single appliance load monitoring (Tra-CNN). The solution uses the UK-DALE dataset, which contains high and low frequencies electricity consumption data of multiple households in the UK and the electricity consumption data of each household appliance, and uses the active power of the appliance as the input of the algorithm. The first part of the model consists of a convolutional layer, a normalization layer, and a dropout layer, with the primary task of capturing local dependencies in the data. The second part consists of a Transformer, whose self-attention mechanism associates features at different positions in the sequence to achieve modeling of long-term dependencies. The third part introduces a convolutional neural network, which uses a sliding window for convolution operations to extract local features from different positions and further extract features from sequence data. The final decoder consists of a transposed convolutional layer and a normalization layer, designed to revert the learned features to their original dimensions. Through experimental verification, the effectiveness and superiority of Tra-CNN are shown, which provides important ideas and methods for the further development of NILM technology. © 2024 IEEE.

Accurate fault diagnosis plays a key role in the safe and efficient operation of electrical motors. Aiming at multi-class motor fault diagnosis under complex working conditions, a signal fusion-based fault diagnosis framework is proposed. Measurement parameters from different sensors are first transformed by wavelet denoising and fast Fourier transform (FFT). Then, multiple parameters spectrum and working condition information are integrated and converted into high-dimension matrices. Finally, a channel-attention-based convolution neural network (CA-CNN) is proposed to extract fault patterns from a reconstructed matrix and output diagnosis results. Experiment results on both simulated and experimental datasets verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2024 IEEE.

Aiming at the problems of my country's current camellia fruit picking mainly relying on manual picking, large labor and low efficiency, the development and promotion of camellia fruit picking equipment and technology are discussed, and technical analysis is carried out for the design of camellia fruit picking robots. This article analyzes the characteristics and existing problems of camellia fruit picking, and analyzes the four major components of the picking robot: "end effector", "manipulator motion control system", "visual recognition positioning system"and "driving walking device".
