Variable structure multiple model for articulated human motion tracking from monocular video sequences

A new model-based human body tracking framework with learning-based theory is introduced in this *** propose a variable structure multiple model (VSMM) framework to address challenging problems such as uncertainty of motion styles,imprecise detection of feature points,and ambiguity of joint *** human joint points are detected automatically and the undetected points are estimated with Kalman *** motion models are learned from motion capture data using a ridge regression *** model set that covers the total motion set is designed on the basis of topological and compatibility relationships,while the VSMM algorithm is used to estimate quaternion vectors of joint *** using real image sequences and simulation videos demonstrate the high efficiency of our proposed human tracking framework.

Landing footprint of an entry vehicle provides critical information for mission planning. Conventional methods calculate it through solving a family of multi-constraints optimal control problems. It is difficult to solve. To generate the boundary of it, we proposed a new scheme based on differential evolution(DE). Utilizing DE's parallelism, each run generates one side instead of one point of the boundary. To get the full boundary, just need run the algorithm two times. The algorithm's merits include accurate, fast, not relying on simplification of the system, all control variables are under consideration and facilitating parallel programming. © 2012 IEEE.

Synchronization and pinning control of complex networks is to regulate the agents' behavior and improve network performance. In this article, we review some recent developments in pinning control. Stability algorithms and pining strategies in different types of complex networks are presented and compared. Adaptive pinning control is also summarized. In addition, the research extended to discrete-time case is reviewed. As some related research, the development in consensus and flocking of multi-agent system are introduced briefly. At last, we give some ideas about pinning control in social networks. © 2012 Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tec.

Pneumatic Muscle (PM) has the advantages of cheapness, light weight, compliance, safe and high power/weight. It is suitable for rehabilitation engineering. To minimize the number of PM for driving a single joint of rehabilitation, a new PM-TS actuator comprising a PM and a Torsion Spring (TS) is proposed. Unlike the traditional agonist/antagonist PM actuator, the PM is arranged in appropriate place as agonist and the torsion spring provides opposing torque as antagonist in the proposed actuator. The dynamic model of a 1-DOF (Degree of Freedom) rehabilitation robotic arm is derived considering the PM-TS actuator. To realize high accurate trajectory tracking control of the robotic arm, an Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm based Auto-Disturbance Rejection control (ADRC) is proposed, where ABC is employed to optimize the control parameters of ADRC. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of PM-TS actuator, and verify that the ABC based ADRC has satisfactory performance. © 2012 Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tec.

Parameters selection of support vector machine is the key issue that impacts its accurate performance. A method for support vector regression machine with standard particle swarm optimization (SPSO) algorithm is proposed in this paper. Furthermore, in order to improve the performance of the SPSO algorithm, the concept of the particles' average distance and fitness variance is proposed to make the efficiency of algorithm better. So, the improve algorithm was also applied in this paper. The two different models using SPSO and IPSO respectively were used to forecast the density of the acid-lead battery electrolyte. The experimental results indicate that both SPSO and IPSO have high prediction accuracy and efficiency. The time of the parametric searching by IPSO is obviously decreased to that of SPSO. The mean squared error (MSE) of the prediction model using SPSO is about 2.02056×10-4, Meanwhile, the MSE of the model using IPSO is only about 1.9324×10-4. So, the IPSO algorithm has more superior performance on convergence speed and global optimization. © 2012 Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tec.

This paper proposed a H∞ based controller design method for MIMO system. We use the bound real lemma to design the controller when the reference model is given. The BMI (Bi-linear Matrix Inequality) problem is turned into a LMI (Linear Matrix Inequality) problem by congruence transformation and variables substitution. Given a decoupled reference model, the decoupling controller can be obtained by computer. We apply the method to a linearized vehicle model and the simulation results show the effectiveness of the approach. © 2012 Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tec.

An accuracy assessment method that integrates segmentation and classification accuracy is proposed to meet the requirements of object-based image analysis. Segmentation errors are measured by establishing the relationship between pixels and their corresponding segments according to the overlaps of segments and reference polygons. Then, two improved confusion matrices that take the segmentation errors into consideration are used: one for pixel-level classification results, and the other for object-level classification results. A final accuracy assessment combines the statistics of these two confusion matrices. The proposed method can be applied to segmentation scale selection in the hierarchical interpretation system. An experiment on a SPOT5 image demonstrates the effectiveness of this method for segmentation scale selection, which can guide the fusion of objects of different scales to obtain a higher accuracy. © 2012 IEEE.

OFDMA-based network performs well in maximizing the overall throughput, and meanwhile, problems with security requirements are focused to satisfy the increasing needs of confidential data transmissions. According to information theory, however, secure transmission undesirably antagonizes larger flow rate, thus a tradeoff is expected to balance these two matters. In this paper, we consider a downlink situation in OFDMA network, where all users request secure transmission from the base station yet the resources including power and subcarriers are limited such that an appropriate policy on resource allocation can play an instrumental role. Dynamic queueing and Lyapunov optimization are two highlights in this process. We utilize dynamic queueing so that merely instantaneous state of the network is enough, which is advantageous for easier implementations. On the other hand, by the means of Lyapunov optimization, we also prove our algorithm can obtain a performance of flow rate admission extremely close to the optimal. Applying this policy can reduce computational complexity significantly but still perform close to optimality. © 2012 IEEE.
