The context of objects can provide auxiliary discrimination beyond objects. However, this effective information has not been fully explored. In this paper, we propose Tri-level Combination for image Representation (TriCoIR) to solve the problem at three different levels: object intrinsic, strongly-related context and weakly-related context. Object intrinsic excludes external disturbances and more focuses on the objects themselves. Strongly-related context is cropped from the input image with a more loose bound to contain surrounding context. Weaklyrelated one is recovered from the image other than object for global context. First, strongly and weakly-related context are constructed from input images. Second, we make cascade transformations for more intrinsical object information, which depends on the consistency between generated global context and input images in the regions other than object. Finally, a joint representation is acquired based on these three level features. The experiments on two benchmark datasets prove the effectiveness of TriCoIR. © Springer International Publishing AG 2016.

This technical note deals with a modified algebraic Riccati equation (MARE) and its corresponding inequality and difference equation, which arise in modified optimal control and filtering problems and are introduced into the cooperative control problems recently. The stabilizing property of the solution to MARE is presented. Then, the uniqueness is proved for the almost stabilizing and positive semi-definite solution. Next, the parameter dependence of MARE is analyzed. An obtained parameter dependence result is finally applied to the study of semi-global synchronization of leader-following networks with discrete-time linear dynamics subject to actuator saturation. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Analogical China map constructed by single-stranded DNA tiles assembly

In the past nearly two decades, DNA self-assembly technology as a promising technology, a body of laboratory work has been emerged in an endless stream. Single-stranded DNA tile (SST) assembly provides a simple, modular and robust framework for constructing nanostructures with prescribed shapes from short synthetic DNA strands. In this research, we present a nanoscale DNA structure of analogical China map which is constructed by a number of SSTs, and label streptavidin in the capital beijing location. The constructing nanostructure is roughly 98 nm×67 nm in diameter with a spatial resolution of 3 nm×7 nm. The pattern appeared in atomic force microscopy (AFM) conforms to the pre-designed shape of Chinese map with the approximately expected dimensions, and AFM images of the field selected randomly from the mica give an 11% assembly yield. Through this research, the capability of constructing complicated two-dimensional shapes by SST and the controllability of the internal array are fully vindicated. An adaptive differential evolution approach for the maximal synchronization problem of feeder buses to metro

This paper presents an adaptive differential evolution approach (DEMS for short) for the maximal synchronization between two most popular transit modes (i.e., bus and metro). Given a metro station, suppose the timetable of the metro system is precompiled, the DEMS approach is to produce timetables for the bus lines passing through the transfer points around the metro station. The objective is to achieve a maximal synchronization amongst the buses and metro. This is helpful to increase the ridership of metro systems and enhance the service level of an entire public transport system. In this paper, three types of simultaneous arrival are first defined, before an integer programming model is built for the maximal synchronization problem. Then, the DEMS approach is devised to solve the problem. Experiments on benchmark instances and a case study on a realworld problem demonstrate that the proposed DEMS approach can produce good results and is promising with good behavior of convergence. This paper addresses the robust reliable guaranteed cost control problem of positive interval systems with multiple time delays and actuator failure for a given quadratic cost function. Through constructing a Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, a sufficient condition for the existence of robust reliable guaranteed cost controllers is established such that the closed-loop system is positive and asymptotically stable, and the cost function is guaranteed to be no more than a certain upper bound. Based on the linear matrix inequality method, a criterion for the design of robust reliable guaranteed cost controllers is derived which can tolerate all admissible uncertainties as well as actuator failure. Moreover, a convex optimisation problem with linear matrix inequality constraints is formulated to design the optimal robust reliable guaranteed cost controller which minimises the upper bound of the closed-loop system cost. A numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed methods. © 2014 Taylor & Francis.

The resolution measurement of 3D reconstructed density map in single particle reconstruction is an important and still an open *** this paper,we propose a new protocol to measure the resolution just from the reconstructed density *** approach estimates spectral signal-to-noise ratio(SSNR) of 3D reconstructed map by computing the ratio of signal power to noise power in frequency *** power distributions of signal and noise are estimated from structure particle region and surrounding region segmented by applying a mask *** proposed protocol of calculating SSNR,which we term mask-SSNR(mSSNR),is independent of the reconstruction algorithms and can be used for density maps reconstructed with any reconstruction ***,the mSSNR neither needs to split the dataset into halves like the Fourier shell correlation(FSC) approach,nor any original images or intermediate data like other SSNR calculation methods in this *** mSSNR provides a direct calculation of SSNR based on its original definition,and is proven to be a better approach.

Coordinated control of multi-agent systems has widespread application in engineering such as unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned ground vehicles. Due to the fact that input saturation can lead a control system to deterioration and instability, a lot of efforts have been devoted to investigating this subject of great importance. The present article offers a survey of recent developments on coordinated control of multi-agents systems subject to input saturation. Some preliminaries about graph theory, stability theory and input saturation are first provided, followed by some important results in the area, which are categorized into semi-global and global coordinated controls. Future research topics are finally discussed.
