Antifungal activity of curcumin-mediated photodynamic inactivation against Fusarium graminearum on maize

The natural curcumin-mediated photodynamic inactivation(PDI)was developed,and its inactivation potency against Fusarium graminearum in vitro and in vivo was systematically investigated by fluorescence probe assay,trypan blue staining,scanning electron microscope(SEM),confocal laser scanning microscopy(CLSM),*** showed that under the irradiation of blue LED,the photosensitizer of curcumin was excited to generate massive reactive oxygen species(ROS)in the cells of ***,and the PDI completely inactivated their mycelia and spores under the treatment of 150μM curcumin and 10.8 J/cm^(2)*** analysis found that the PDI ruptured the cellular microstructures,damaged the cell membrane by increasing its permeability and oxidizing the lipids,degraded the intracellular DNA and proteins inside the spores of ***,the PDI also potently killed>99.99%spores of *** on maize under the treatment of 200μM curcumin and 10.8 J/cm^(2)***,the PDI suppressed the production of zearalenone(ZEN),and residual ZEN could not be detected after the storage of maize for 10 ***,this study systematically explored the inactivation efficiency of curcumin-mediated PDI against both the mycelia and spores of ***,which provides a valid and promising method to control the fungal hazards in grains.

Secure Consensus of Multi-agent Systems via Fully Distributed Dynamic Edge-based Event Triggered Under Denial-of-service Attacks

This paper addresses the issue of ensuring secure consensus in linear multi-agent systems under Denial-of-Service attacks. At the outset, to address the issue of partially observable agent states, a state observer is engineered to offer state estimations for the agents. Using the capabilities of this observer, a novel fully distributed dynamic adaptive edge-based event triggered control mechanism is introduced, and a timing variable is utilized to ensure that the inter-event intervals for all communication links in the network are strictly positive, thereby excluding Zeno behavior. Following that, by leveraging the piecewise Lyapunov function approach, the necessary conditions are meticulously crafted to ensure that the system reaches a secure consensus, thereby establishing a quantitative link between control gains, the duration of attacks, and their frequencies. Ultimately, the effectiveness of the developed event-triggered control strategy is validated through a simulation example. © ICROS, KIEE and Springer 2025.

Fast networked data selection via distributed smoothed quantile estimation

Collecting the most informative data from a large dataset distributed over a network is a fundamental problem in many fields, including control, signal processing and machine learning. In this paper, we establish a connection between selecting the most informative data and finding the top-k elements of a multiset. The top-k selection in a network can be formulated as a distributed nonsmooth convex optimization problem known as quantile estimation. Unfortunately, the lack of smoothness in the local objective functions leads to extremely slow convergence and poor scalability with respect to the network size. To overcome this deficiency, we propose an accelerated method that employs smoothing techniques. Leveraging the piecewise linearity of the local objective functions in quantile estimation, we characterize the iteration complexity required to achieve top-k selection, a challenging task due to the lack of strong convexity. Several numerical results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the algorithm and the correctness of the theory. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

sEMG (surface electromyography) signal control of bionic prostheses has been widely studied over the past few years. In particular, sparse sEMG signals are rapidly developing in the field of gesture recognition for their convenience, noninvasiveness, and ease of access. However, compared with high-density EMG signals, sparse EMG signals lack rich feature information, which in turn affects gesture recognition accuracy. In order to reduce the loss of feature information of sparse EMG signals in the spatio-temporal dimension, this paper proposes a hybrid neural network Res-LSTM combining residual network and long short-term memory network. The ordinary convolutional blocks in the CNN network are replaced with residual blocks, and the final fully connected layer is removed and a constant mapping layer is added to adequate extraction of spatial feature information of the data. The Res layer’s output is utilized as the input for the long and short-term memory (LSTM) network, which further extracts the features of the data in the temporal dimension, and finally completes the categorization output through a fully connected layer. The average accuracy of 91.11% for gesture-motion classification was verified by training on a homebrew dataset;and tested on a public dataset, NinaPro DB1, with an average accuracy of 91.03%. The experimental findings indicate that the proposed Res-LSTM network framework contributes to solving the problem of lack of feature information of sparse sEMG signals and improves the pattern recognition accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

ColorDynamic: Generalizable, Scalable, Real-time, End-to-end Local Planner for Unstructured and Dynamic Environments

Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) has demonstrated potential in addressing robotic local planning problems, yet its efficacy remains constrained in highly unstructured and dynamic environments. To address these challenges, this study proposes the ColorDynamic framework. First, an end-to-end DRL formulation is established, which maps raw sensor data directly to control commands, thereby ensuring compatibility with unstructured environments. Under this formulation, a novel network, Transqer, is introduced. The Transqer enables online DRL learning from temporal transitions, substantially enhancing decision-making in dynamic scenarios. To facilitate scalable training of Transqer with diverse data, an efficient simulation platform E-Sparrow, along with a data augmentation technique leveraging symmetric invariance, are developed. Comparative evaluations against state-of-the-art methods, alongside assessments of generalizability, scalability, and real-time performance, were conducted to validate the effectiveness of ColorDynamic. Results indicate that our approach achieves a success rate exceeding 90% while exhibiting real-time capacity (1.2–1.3 ms per planning). Additionally, ablation studies were performed to corroborate the contributions of individual components. Building on this, the OkayPlan-ColorDynamic (OPCD) navigation system is presented, with simulated and real-world experiments demonstrating its superiority and applicability in complex scenarios. Securing Mobile Robotic Networks Against Replacement Attack

The security of mobile robotic networks (MRNs) has been an active research topic in recent years. This paper aims to secure the ubiquitous formation control of MRNs against the replacement attack, where an external robot can replace a formation robot by compromising the communication and physically interfering with the victim simultaneously. To counter this advanced attack, the novel idea of this work is to leverage the physical proximity of the formation shape and the interaction topology among robots for defense design. First, from the physical proximity perspective, we propose the convex neighbor polygon (CNP) to capture the geometric characteristic of the formation robots, and design a CNP-based security mechanism for the robots during the replacement attack. Then, from the interaction perspective, we introduce the indirect controllability to characterize the possibility that the attacker leverages the interaction between robots to deactivate the CNP mechanism, and establish the conditions regarding the topology structure and the attack input to counter the replacement. Finally, based on the obtained conditions, we demonstrate how to design the initiatory topology among the formation robots to enhance the defense performance. Comparative simulations verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In accelerated MRI reconstruction problem, directly recovering all the missing k-space data from undersampled measurements is highly ill-posed and often leads to suboptimal performance. To address the problem, we propose a novel deep unfolding network (DUN) with subsampling decomposition (SD) based k-space refinement to mitigate the ill-posedness. Our method employs a parallel network architecture with a primary branch unfolded by gradient descent-inspired optimization process (GD-PB) for reconstruction. Additionally, we introduce an SD-based auxiliary branch (SD-AB) that decompose the inverse problem into moderately corrupted subproblems. We design a novel subsampling mask predictor that captures both global and local spatial correlations in k-space, ensuring the SD-AB effectively preserves the most well-reconstructed subsets as reliable region (RR). The RR in SD-AB is used to periodically refine the intermediate outputs of the GD-PB, achieving improved accuracy. Experimental results reveal that our method significantly outperforms conventional and SD-based DUN techniques, achieving superior PSNR and SSIM results compared with cutting-edge methods.

Deep unfolding networks (DUNs) have made significant progress in MRI reconstruction, successfully tackling the problem of prolonged imaging time. However, the ill-conditioned nature of MRI reconstruction often causes slow convergence in iterative optimization, potentially compromising the performance of DUNs. In this study we propose a preconditioned and gates-controlled DUN (PGDUN) to address these challenges. Our approach starts with optimizing the step size of proximal gradient descent (PGD) through a preconditioner. To improve flexibility and adaptability, we relax the constrains on quasi-newton-based optimization procedure. We design ConvLSTM-based modules, where the gate units automatically preserve necessary long- and short-term information, facilitating the learning of optimized variables and their combinations. Furthermore, we design gate units to modulate the features fed to regularizers across different iterations, boosting their robustness against potential accumulated errors. Evaluations using PSNR and SSIM metrics reveal that our approach outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods, achieving superior reconstruction results across various sequences.

Model-based networks have shown convincing performance in MRI reconstruction. However, the unrolled cascades within the networks are constrained to solely obtain information from the preceding counterpart, resulting in potential error accumulation. Moreover, the linear structure fails to address the challenge of recovering fine-grained details. To tackle these problems, we propose to redesign the information flow in model-based networks. Our method features a large U-shaped network, where the nodes are built with unrolled cascades and U-Net-based regularizers. We design an input-level integration module to help the cascades acquire information from adjacent and skip-connected counterparts, building robust mappings to the target. We further design a coarse-to-fine feature-level integration module, aiming at guiding the network to progressively recover fine details. Intermediate reconstructions produced by subnetworks of different scales are integrated, enabling the extraction of complementary information to enhance the final performance. Compared with cutting-edge methods on different datasets, our method exhibits superior performances.

Text-based person retrieval primarily aims to retrieve the images of target persons represented by a given text query. In this task, how to effectively align images and text globally and locally is an important challenge. At the same time, since multiple modalities are involved, reducing the differences between different modalities is also an important challenge. Existing work has focused more on reconstructing an image rather than the semantic consistency between the image and text modalities. Therefore, we introduce the Cross-Modal Mask and Detail Alignment (CMDA) framework to address these challenges. Under this framework, our proposed Cross-Modal Mask Alignment module (CMA) semantically aligns features generated by supplementing randomly masked image/text with another modality text/image. Additionally, to narrow the gap between the image and text modalities, we designed the Cross-Modal Detail Alignment module (CDA), which establishes connections between images and texts and facilitates interactions between these two different modalities. Experimental results show that our model exhibits outstanding performance across multiple public datasets, i.e., CUHK-PEDES, ICFG-PEDES, and RSTPReID. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
