Recently, Discriminative Correlation Filter based trackers have increasingly become popular in the domain of visual object tracking, which is benefited by their effective and robustness in terms of tracking performance. However, the significant variations of target appearance, such as Occlusion or Deformation, always suppress the performance improvement. Although the multi-feature fusion strategy partly alleviates the above factors, the synthetic scheme also ambiguates the overall presentation ability of multiple features and results in degradation of discriminative power during classification filter learning. In this paper, we present a novel tracking framework based on the correlation filter with multiple kernel learning. Instead of directly integrating different features, we decompose a tracking process into several module, including low-dimension modules and high-dimension modules. The handcraft features extracted from low-dimension modules are robust to the small variation of target while the semantic convolutional features from the high-dimension modules can distinguish the target object from the relative complex tracking environment. In addition, we also design a reliability detection mechanism based on the confidence map to accurately measure the important degree of each kernel learning and precisely estimate the target state in the subsequent frames. For verifying our proposed tracker, we conduct extensive experiments on several standard sequence benchmark. Experiment results show that our proposed trackers perform favorably against other state-of-the-art trackers. © 2022 ACM.

Based on quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (QPSO), a novel path planner for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is employed to generate a safe and flyable path. The standard particle swarm optimization (PSO) and quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (QPSO) are presented and compared through a UAV path planning application. Every particle in swarm represents a potential path in search space. For the purpose of pruning the search space, constraints are incorporated into the pre-specified cost function, which is used to evaluate whether a particle is good or not. As the system iterated, each particle is pulled toward its local attractor, which is located between the personal best position (pbest) and the global best position (gbest) based on the interaction of particles' individual searches and group's public search. For the sake of simplicity, we only consider planning the projection of path on the plane and assume threats are static instead of moving. Simulation results demonstrated the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed approach. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

This paper presented improved Sparse A-Star Search (SAS) algorithm to pursue a fast route planner for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) on-ship applications. Our approach can quickly produce 3-D trajectories composed by a set of successive navigation points from certain known initial locations to predetermined target locations. The result routes are not only ensuring collision avoidance with the environmental obstacles, but also satisfying specific routes constraints and objectives. The experiment results demonstrated the feasibility of the method, which makes our route planner be more useful in real systems. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

Recently, many compression algorithms are applied to decrease the cost of video storage and transmission. This will introduce undesirable artifacts, which severely degrade visual quality. Therefore, Video Compression Artifacts Removal (VCAR) aims at reconstructing a high-quality video from its corrupted version of compression. Generally, this task is considered as a vision-related instead of media-related problem. In vision-related research, the visual quality has been significantly improved while the computational complexity and bitrate issues are less considered. In this work, we review the performance constraints of video coding and transfer to evaluate the VCAR outputs. Based on the analyses, we propose a Spatial-Temporal Attention-Guided Enhancement Network (STAGE-Net). First, we employ dynamic filter processing, instead of conventional optical flow method, to reduce the computational cost of VCAR. Second, we introduce self-attention mechanism to design Sequential Residual Attention Blocks (SRABs) to improve visual quality of enhanced video frames with bitrate constraints. Both quantitative and qualitative experimental results have demonstrated the superiority of our proposed method, which achieves high visual qualities and low computational costs. © 2023 IEEE.

We propose an unsupervised person search method for video surveillance. This method considers both the spatial features of persons within each frame and the temporal relationship of the same person among different frames. Thus, the spatial features are extracted by region convolutional neural network, and the temporal relationship is organized by gate recurrent unit. The spatio-temporal features are generated by the following average pooling layer and indexed by locality sensitive hashing. A surveillance video database is constructed to evaluate the proposed method, and the experimental results demonstrate that our method improves the search accuracy by utilizing the spatio-temporal features. © 2022 ACM.

Finally,experiments with both natural and artificial data are carried out to compare with other methods,and the results approve the validity of the algorithm.

We propose adaptive nonlinear auto-associative modeling (ANAM) based on Locally Linear Embedding algorithm (LLE) for learning intrinsic principal features of each concept separately and recognition thereby. Unlike traditional supervised manifold learning algorithm, the proposed ANAM algorithm has several advantages: 1) it implicitly embodies discriminant information because the suboptimal parameters of ANAM are determined based on error rate of the validation set. 2) it avoids the curse of dimensionality without loss accuracy because recognition is completed in the original space. Experiments on character and digit databases show that the advantages of the proposed ANAM algorithm. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

To decrease domain shift in cross-domain person re-identification, existing methods generate pseudo labels for training models, however, the inherent distribution between source domain data and the hard quantization loss is ignored. Therefore, a cross-domain person re-identification method based on distribution consistency and multi-label collaborative learning is proposed. Firstly, a soft binary cross-entropy loss function is constructed to constrain the inter-sample relationship of cross-domain transformation, which can ensure the consistency of appearance features and sample distribution, and achieving feature cross-domain alignment. On this basis, in order to suppress the noise of hard pseudo labels, a multi-label collaborative learning network is constructed. The soft pseudo labels are generated by using the collaborative foreground features and global features to guide the network training, making the model adapt to the target domain. In conversational machine comprehension, it has become one of the research hotspots integrating conversational history information through question reformulation for obtaining better answers. However, the existing question reformulation models are trained only using supervised question labels annotated by annotators without considering any feedback information from answers. In this paper, we propose a novel Answer-Supervised Question Reformulation (ASQR) model for enhancing conversational machine comprehension with reinforcement learning technology. ASQR utilizes a pointer-copy-based question reformulation model as an agent, takes an action to predict the next word, and observes a reward for the whole sentence state after generating the end-of-sequence token. The experimental results on QuAC dataset prove that our ASQR model is more effective in conversational machine comprehension. Moreover, pretraining is essential in reinforcement learning models, so we provide a high-quality annotated dataset for question reformulation by sampling a part of QuAC dataset. © 2019 MRQA@EMNLP 2019 - Proceedings of the 2nd Workshop on Machine Reading for Question Answering. Bone scintigraphy is widely used to diagnose bone diseases. Accurate hotspot segmentation is a critical task for tumor metastasis diagnosis. In this paper, we propose an interactive approach to detect and extract hotspots in thoracic region based on a new multiple instance learning (MIL) method called EM-MILBoost. We convert the segmentation problem to a multiple instance learning task by constructing positive and negative bags according to the input bounding box. In order to be robust against noisy input, we train a region-level hotspot classifier with EM-MILBoost and develop several segmentation strategies based on it. The experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms other methods and is robust against various noisy input.
