In this paper, the periodic structures are simulated by the split-field finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. By using this method, a set of auxiliary elements are introduced to represent the discretization of the Floquet transformed Maxwell's equations with oblique incidence. We here extend the split-field method to the study of 2D dispersive structures of Drude model combining with the Z transformation method. Some numerical experiments are presented to validate the code, and the obtained results are in good with the analytic results. © 2012 IEEE.

Reasoning theory for D3L with compositional bridge rules 1

The semantic mapping in Distributed Dynamic Description Logics (D3L) allows knowledge to propagate from one ontology to another. The current research for knowledge propagation in D3L is only for a simplified case when only two ontologies are involved. In this paper we study knowledge propagation in more complex cases. We find in the case when more than two ontologies are involved and bridge rules form chains, knowledge does not always propagate along chains of bridge rules even if we would expect it. Inspired by Package-based description Logics, we extend the original semantics of D3L by imposing so called compositional consistency condition on domain relations in D3L interpretations. Under this semantics knowledge propagates along chains of bridge rules correctly. Furthermore we provide a distributed Tableaux reasoning algorithm for deciding satisfiability of concepts which is decidable in D3L under compositional consistency. Compared with original one, the extended D3L provides more reasonable logic foundation for distributed, dynamic system such as the information integration system and the Semantic Web. © 2012 IFIP International Federation for Information processing.

We proposed a channel allocation algorithm, which was a modification of graph theory and based on demand to optimize the performance of cognitive wireless Mesh network. The key idea of the algorithm was to design a proportion coefficient of actual flow to demand flow, and then cognitive users with the prior proportion could access their optimal channels. The results of simulation show that the proposed algorithm improves the throughput and fairness of network. © 2012. The authors - Published by Atlantis Press.

Spectral matching algorithm based on nonsubsampled contourlet transform and scale-invariant feature transform

A new spectral matching algorithm is proposed by us- ing nonsubsampled contourlet transform and scale-invariant fea- ture transform. The nonsubsampled contourlet transform is used to decompose an image into a low frequency image and several high frequency images, and the scale-invariant feature transform is employed to extract feature points from the low frequency im- age. A proximity matrix is constructed for the feature points of two related images. By singular value decomposition of the proximity matrix, a matching matrix （or matching result） reflecting the match- ing degree among feature points is obtained. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm can reduce time complexity and possess a higher accuracy.

The weighted circles layout problem belongs to the layout optimization problem with performance constraints. Due to its NP-hard property, it is difficult to solve in polynomial time. In this paper, a heuristic particle swarm optimization approach with quasi-human strategy (HQHPSA) is presented for this problem. Its layout scheme is constructed through the proposed heuristic method: that both circular radius and the norm of row vector of the matrix and sub-vector are taken as the probability factors of the roulette selection and the circles are located by arranging round existing circles in peripheral with counterclockwise. The complexity of the proposed heuristic method is only O(n) for one layout scheme. The better layout solution obtained through the proposed heuristic method is taken as the elite particle individual. The PSO with quasi-human strategy is used to optimize the elite particle into the optimal solution. The Numerical experiments show that the performance of proposed algorithm is superior to the existing algorithms. © 2012 IEEE.

Based on adaptive filtering and retinex method, this paper presents a novel algorithm for Enhancement of hand vein images. First of all, the principle of the near-infrared hand vein image acquisition is introduced. Secondly, the retinex method is used to normalize hand vein images, and the adaptive smoothing method is selected to estimate the illumination. Thirdly, Gray cosine transform is used to enhance the discrimination of the skin and the vein in hand vein images. Finally, a determination criterion of hand vein is established to remove the false vein blocks from the segmented hand vein images. We developed a hand vein recognition system in Microsoft VC6.0 and the experimental results demonstrate the high efficiency of the proposed algorithm in runtime and correct recognition rate.

In this paper, the method of splitting plane wave finite-difference time-domain (SP-FDTD) algorithm is presented for the initiation of plane wave sources in symplectic finite-difference time-domain (SFDTD) scheme. By splitting the fields on one-dimensional (1D) grid and using the nature of numerical plane wave in FDTD, an efficient plane wave sources is simulated on 1D grid, and a perfect match is achieved for a plane wave propagating at any angle forming an integer grid cell ratio. Numerical examples show the valid of the proposed method. © 2012 IEEE.

The propositional dynamic logic PDL is one of the most successful variants of modal logic;it plays an important role in many fields of computer science and artificial intelligence. As a logical basis for the W3C-recommended Web ontology language OWL, description logic provides considerable expressive power going far beyond propositional logic as while as the reasoning is still decidable. In this paper, we bring the power and character of description logic into PDL and present a dynamic logic ALC-DL for the semantic Web. The logic ALC-DL inherits the knowledge representation ability of both the description logic ALC and the logic PDL. With an approach based on Buchi tree automaton, we prove that the satisfiability problem of ALC-DL formulas is still decidable and is EXPTIME-complete. The logic ALC-DL is suitable for modeling and reasoning about dynamic knowledge in the semantic Web environment. © 2012 IFIP International Federation for Information processing.

Estimating taxonomic content constitutes a key problem in metagenomic sequencing data ***,extracting such content from high-throughput data of next-generation sequencing is very time-consuming with the currently available ***,we present CloudLCA,a parallel LCA algorithm that significantly improves the efficiency of determining taxonomic composition in metagenomic data *** show that CloudLCA(1)has a running time nearly linear with the increase of dataset magnitude,(2)displays linear speedup as the number of processors grows,especially for large datasets,and(3)reaches a speed of nearly 215 million reads each minute on a cluster with ten thin *** comparison with MEGAN,a well-known metagenome analyzer,the speed of CloudLCA is up to 5 more times faster,and its peak memory usage is approximately 18.5%that of MEGAN,running on a fat *** can be run on one multiprocessor node or a *** is expected to be part of MEGAN to accelerate analyzing reads,with the same output generated as MEGAN,which can be import into MEGAN in a direct way to finish the following ***,CloudLCA is a universal solution for finding the lowest common ancestor,and it can be applied in other fields requiring an LCA algorithm.
