An intelligent self-sustained RAN slicing framework for diverse service provisioning in 5G-beyond and 6G networks

Network slicing is a key technology to support the concurrent provisioning of heterogeneous Quality of Service(QoS)in the 5th Generation(5G)-beyond and the 6th Generation(6G)***,effective slicing of Radio Access Network(RAN)is very challenging due to the diverse QoS requirements and dynamic conditions in the 6G *** this paper,we propose a self-sustained RAN slicing framework,which integrates the self-management of network resources with multiple granularities,the self-optimization of slicing control performance,and self-learning together to achieve an adaptive control strategy under unforeseen network *** proposed RAN slicing framework is hierarchically structured,which decomposes the RAN slicing control into three levels,i.e.,network-level slicing,next generation NodeB(gNodeB)-level slicing,and packet scheduling level *** the network level,network resources are assigned to each gNodeB at a large timescale with coarse resource *** the gNodeB-level,each gNodeB adjusts the configuration of each slice in the cell at the large *** the packet scheduling level,each gNodeB allocates radio resource allocation among users in each network slice at a small ***,we utilize the transfer learning approach to enable the transition from a model-based control to an autonomic and self-learning RAN slicing *** the proposed RAN slicing framework,the QoS performance of emerging services is expected to be dramatically enhanced.

The engagement prediction task aims to identify the current level of involvement of individuals based on the information presented in video clips. In recent years, engagement prediction has attracted considerable attention due to its significance in real-life scenarios. We observed that an individual’s engagement status is often primarily manifested in the facial region. This observation prompted us to solve the engagement prediction problem by exploiting facial information to learn features related to engagement. In this paper, we propose a novel model for learning fine-grained features, called Fine-Grained Spatial-Temporal Framework (FGST). Specifically, we consider both spatial and temporal aspects. In the spatial domain, we propose an entropy-weighted method based on Fourier transform. By applying Fourier transform to video frames and introducing the concept of information entropy, we can segregate engagement-related information from engagement-unrelated information and mining difficult samples. This aids in enabling the model to learn features conducive to engagement prediction. In the temporal domain, we calculate the differences between adjacent frames and sum these differences to obtain regions of pixel variation between video frames, thereby generates saliency weight and improving model performance. Experiments on several public datasets demonstrate the proposed model can outperform the state-of-the-art methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

An enumeration of 1-perfect ternary codes

MSC Codes 94B25We study codes with parameters of the ternary Hamming (n=(3m−1)/2, 3n−m, 3) code, i.e., ternary 1-perfect codes. The rank of the code is defined to be the dimension of its affine span. We characterize ternary 1-perfect codes of rank n − m + 1, count their number, and prove that all such codes can be obtained from each other by a sequence of two-coordinate switchings. We enumerate ternary 1-perfect codes of length 13 obtained by concatenation from codes of lengths 9 and 4;we find that there are 93241327 equivalence classes of such codes. In the past three decades, a large number of metaheuristics have been proposed and shown high performance in solving complex optimization problems. While most variation operators in existing metaheuristics are empirically designed, this paper aims to design new operators automatically, which are expected to be search space independent and thus exhibit robust performance on different problems. For this purpose, this work first investigates the influence of translation invariance, scale invariance, and rotation invariance on the search behavior and performance of some representative operators. Then, we deduce the generic form of translation, scale, and rotation invariant operators. Afterwards, a principled approach is proposed for the automated design of operators, which searches for highperformance operators based on the deduced generic form. The experimental results demonstrate that the operators generated by the proposed approach outperform state-of-theart ones on a variety of problems with complex landscapes and up to 1000 decision variables. © 2021, CC BY.

In this paper, we present a capacitive proximity sensor (CPS) array for static gesture recognition and distance estimation. A 4×4 electrode matrix is employed as the sensing element that is configured to 14 electrode operation patterns to obtain 14 capacitive sensors to percept objects within their sensing region. These 14 capacitances are fused into one feature vector which is used as the input of machine learning (ML) classifier for gesture recognition and neural network or regression model for distance estimation. In our experiments, we selected 10 static gestures to verify the proposed method. We compared the performance of 8 ML classifiers and their variations with training data size. The results show that the Bagging achieves the highest average accuracy of 93.2% and the KNN shows a good performance even with a small training data size. The results in distance estimation experiment demonstrate that the RBF network performs a high accuracy. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, the Maehly approximation, which is based on Chebyshev series, is proposed to fast simulate the EM scattering from a three-dimensional (3D) rough surface over a frequency band. Comparing with the exact results obtained by the method of moments (MoM), results of the Maehly approximation have achieved an excellent agreement both in co-polarization and cross-polarization. Moreover, the Maehly approximation is superior to the MoM in terms of the CPU time required. © 2019 IEEE.

Numerical simulation of semiconductor devices enable the quick obtain of the device physical characteristics. However, the trial productions of the semiconductor devices have the disadvantages of long cycle and high cost. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out numerical simulation investigating semiconductor devices. We propose the coupling approach and the decoupling-Gummel method to solve the semiconductor equations. The results of the two methods are compared with the commercial software. Numerical experiment indicates that the results obtained by our method are accurate. When the transistor is at a low voltage bias, the decoupling method converges faster than the coupling method. In the case of high voltage bias, the decoupling method has a slower convergence speed than the coupling method, even difficult to converge for higher voltage bias. However, the coupling method has higher memory requirements than the Gummel method. Therefore, we need to balance the advantages of the coupling method and the Gummel method when conduct the numerical simulation.

Recently, b-symbol codes are proposed to protect against b-symbol errors in b-symbol read channels. It is an interesting subject of study to consider the complete b-symbol weight distribution of cyclic codes since b-symbol metric is a generalization for Hamming metric. The complete b-symbol Hamming weight distribution of irreducible codes is known in only a few cases. In this paper, we give a complete b-symbol Hamming weight distribution of a class of irreducible codes with two nonzero b-symbol Hamming weights. © 2021, CC0.

RGBT tracking receives a surge of interest in the computer vision community, but this research field lacks a large-scale and high-diversity benchmark dataset, which is essential for both the training of deep RGBT trackers and the comprehensive evaluation of RGBT tracking methods. To this end, we present a Large-scale High-diversity benchmark for short-term RGBT tracking (LasHeR) in this work. LasHeR consists of 1224 visible and thermal infrared video pairs with more than 730K frame pairs in total. Each frame pair is spatially aligned and manually annotated with a bounding box, making the dataset well and densely annotated. LasHeR is highly diverse capturing from a broad range of object categories, camera viewpoints, scene complexities and environmental factors across seasons, weathers, day and night. We conduct a comprehensive performance evaluation of 12 RGBT tracking algorithms on the LasHeR dataset and present detailed analysis. In addition, we release the unaligned version of LasHeR to attract the research interest for alignment-free RGBT tracking, which is a more practical task in real-world applications.
