Baseline shift, as an undesirable component of processing signal, seriously contaminates the essential information of the analysis object and deteriorates the performance of the developed model. The baseline correction methods based on penalized least squares have been widely applied in various industries and obtained better results in the single interval signal. However, the real analyzed signal is composed of multiple intervals with different smoothness, and the current baseline correction methods using constant smoothing parameters throughout the process cannot eliminate the baseline of the multi-interval signal. To address this issue, a local smoothing optimization penalized least squares(lsoPLS) method is presented in this work. The local smoothing optimization strategy using the derivative difference between the previously fitted baseline and the original signal is used to identify the interval location, while smoothing parameter is optimized by the interval characteristics. Two simulated cases and one real experiment were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed lsoPLS method. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method has better performance in the multi-interval baseline correction and can be served as an effective pre-processing method for the complex spectral signal.

Conditional Privacy-Preserving Transaction for the Unspent Transaction Output-Based Multi-Chain Blockchain System

The anonymity of blockchain may be exploited by criminals for illegal fund transfers, thus a conditional privacy-preserving scheme is important for blockchain regulation. Currently, sharding technology under a multi-chain architecture is used to improve blockchain scalability. However, current conditional privacy-preserving schemes cannot work on this architecture. To protect the privacy of the transaction, we present a conditional privacy-preserving transaction scheme (MC-CPPT) for multi-chain blockchain system. In this system, we proposed a zero-knowledge proof based anonymous transaction, in terms of the identities of transaction participants and amounts, which also enables the unlinkability of transactions and indistinguishability between cross-chain and intra-chain transactions in multi-chain blockchain system. In addition, a multi-node regulatory agency is introduced to control the transaction amount and frequency in the system without a single point of failure. Moreover, an ECC-based encryption scheme is proposed to achieve the traceability of suspicious transactions. A security model is defined and the security of MC-CPPT is demonstrated to meet the expected security goals. Evaluating the prototype revealed acceptable performance and additional security features. © 1968-2012 IEEE.

This paper is concerned with the asynchronous problem for a class of Markovian jumping Lur’s system (MJLSs) via sliding mode control (SMC) in continuous-time domain. Specifically, the discrete hidden Markovian model (DHMM) is employed to describe the nonsynchronization between the controller modes and the MJLSs modes. In particular, considering the nonlinearity of MJLSs, a novel Lur’e-integral-type sliding surface is constructed. In order to ensure the finite-time stability of sliding mode dynamics and the accessibility of the specified sliding surface, the asynchronous Lur’e-type SMC law of the detector mode is presented. Finally, an example of DC motor is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed technique. © 2021, CC BY.

AJANet: SAR Ship Detection Network Based on Adaptive Channel Attention and Large Separable Kernel Adaptation

Due to issues such as low resolution, scattering noise, and background clutter, ship detection in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images remains challenging, especially in inshore regions, where these factors have similar scattering characteristics. To overcome these challenges, this paper proposes a novel SAR ship detection framework that integrates adaptive channel attention with large kernel adaptation. The proposed method improves multi-scale contextual information extraction by enhancing feature map interactions at different scales. This method effectively reduces false positives, missed detections, and localization ambiguities, especially in complex inshore environments. Also, it includes an adaptive channel attention block that adjusts attention weights according to the dimensions of the input feature maps, enabling the model to prioritize local information and improve sensitivity to small object features in SAR images. In addition, a large kernel attention block with adaptive kernel size is introduced to automatically adjust the receptive field designed to extract abundant context information at different detection layers. Experimental evaluations on the SSDD and Hysid SAR ship datasets indicate that our method achieves excellent detection performance compared to current methods, as well as demonstrate its effectiveness in overcoming SAR ship detection challenges.

A binary linear code is called asymptotic frame error rate (AFER)-optimal if it achieves the maximum possible value of the minimum distance while having the smallest value of the corresponding error coefficient. Over the additive white Gaussian noise channel and under maximum-likelihood decoding, AFER-optimal codes attain the best possible asymptotic frame error rate at high signal-to-noise ratio. In this paper, we present several bounds on the smallest error coefficients of binary linear codes and give several constructions of AFER-optimal binary linear codes. Many examples confirm that our bounds are sharp on numerous occasions. In addition, we give two families of AFER-optimal codes that respectively attain the proposed bounds with equality. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

It has been a key issue for solving problems efficiently by machine learning models with code categorical features. The state-of-the-art one-hot coding is a widely accepted method to convert the categorical features into numerical values. However, it attracts a sparse space and meaningless value after coding. We come up with a novel coding method based on conditional probability after dividing the features into zones, which is called Conditional-probability-based Zone Transformation (CZT) coding. CZT coding calculates the conditional probability of each feature, then divides the features into several zones according to the probability and finally codes the features in each zone. We mathematically prove that compared with the state-of-the-art method, CZT coding reduces the code length by at least the mean of feature space and the issue becomes into an easier one after CZT coding for the following machine learning model. Finally, using the same neuron network as the classifier, we compare the performance of CZT coding and one-hot coding by using the titanic dataset, where most of the features are categorical, and the result is that CZT coding makes the classifier performs better both on the accuracy and steadiness. © 2019 Association for computing Machinery.

The feasibility of an antenna-in-package (AiP) concept is demonstrated for automotive radar sensors at the 77 GHz-band. Multi-interactive dual-decoder for RGB-thermal salient object detection

RGB-thermal salient object detection (SOD) aims to segment the common prominent regions of visible image and corresponding thermal infrared image that we call it RGBT SOD. Existing methods don’t fully explore and exploit the potentials of complementarity of different modalities and multi-type cues of image contents, which play a vital role in achieving accurate results. In this paper, we propose a multi-interactive dual-decoder to mine and model the multi-type interactions for accurate RGBT SOD. In specific, we first encode two modalities into multi-level multi-modal feature representations. Then, we design a novel dual-decoder to conduct the interactions of multi-level features, two modalities and global contexts. With these interactions, our method works well in diversely challenging scenarios even in the presence of invalid modality. Finally, we carry out extensive experiments on public RGBT and RGBD SOD datasets, and the results show that the proposed method achieves the outstanding performance against state-of-the-art algorithms. In order to meet the requirements of the navigation system for antennas with wide 3-dB AR beam-width, this paper proposes an axial-ratio beam-width enhancement of antenna based on electromagnetic bandgap (EBG). The effect of surface wave on the circular polarization of the antenna is suppressed by loading two layers of mushroom-like EBG unit cells around the patch. The loading of the EBG increases the 3-dB AR beam-width of the antenna by 78% in the xoz plane and the by 84% in the yoz plane, the simulation and test results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method.

Differentiable neural architecture learning for efficient neural network design

Automated neural network design has received ever-increasing attention with the evolution of deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs), especially involving their deployment on embedded and mobile platforms. One of the biggest problems that neural architecture search (NAS) confronts is that a large number of candidate neural architectures are required to train, using, for instance, reinforcement learning and evolutionary optimisation algorithms, at a vast computation cost. Even recent differentiable neural architecture search (DNAS) samples a small number of candidate neural architectures based on the probability distribution of learned architecture parameters to select the final neural architecture. To address this computational complexity issue, we introduce a novel architecture parameterisation based on scaled sigmoid function, and propose a general Differentiable Neural Architecture Learning (DNAL) method to optimize the neural architecture without the need to evaluate candidate neural networks. Specifically, for stochastic supernets as well as conventional CNNs, we build a new channel-wise module layer with the architecture components controlled by a scaled sigmoid function. We train these neural network models from scratch. The network optimization is decoupled into the weight optimization and the architecture optimization, which avoids the interaction between the two types of parameters and alleviates the vanishing gradient problem. We address the non-convex optimization problem of neural architecture by the continuous scaled sigmoid method with convergence guarantees. Extensive experiments demonstrate our DNAL method delivers superior performance in terms of neural architecture search cost, and adapts to conventional CNNs (e.g., VGG16 and ResNet50), lightweight CNNs (e.g., MobileNetV2) and stochastic supernets (e.g., ProxylessNAS).
