MEFA-Net: A mask enhanced feature aggregation network for polyp segmentation

Accurate polyp segmentation is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer. This is a challenging task for three main reasons: (i) the problem of model overfitting and weak generalization due to the multi-center distribution of data;(ii) the problem of interclass ambiguity caused by motion blur and overexposure to endoscopic light;and (iii) the problem of intraclass inconsistency caused by the variety of morphologies and sizes of the same type of polyps. To address these challenges, we propose a new high-precision polyp segmentation framework, MEFA-Net, which consists of three modules, including the plug-and-play Mask Enhancement Module (MEG), Separable Path Attention Enhancement Module (SPAE), and Dynamic Global Attention Pool Module (DGAP). Specifically, firstly, the MEG module regionally masks the high-energy regions of the environment and polyps through a mask, which guides the model to rely on only a small amount of information to distinguish between polyps and background features, avoiding the model from overfitting the environmental information, and improving the robustness of the model. At the same time, this module can effectively counteract the "dark corner phenomenon" in the dataset and further improve the generalization performance of the model. Next, the SPAE module can effectively alleviate the inter-class fuzzy problem by strengthening the feature expression. Then, the DGAP module solves the intra-class inconsistency problem by extracting the invariance of scale, shape and position. Finally, we propose a new evaluation metric, MultiColoScore, for comprehensively evaluating the segmentation performance of the model on five datasets with different domains. We evaluated the new method quantitatively and qualitatively on five datasets using four metrics. Experimental results show that MEFA-Net significantly improves the accuracy of polyp segmentation and outperforms current state-of-the-art algorithms. Code posted on https://***/

Vector Field-Guided Circumnavigation for an Unmanned Surface Vehicle With Boundary and Obstacle Constraints

This article aims to tackle the challenge of rapid target circumnavigation by unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) under boundary and obstacle constraints through leveraging an emerging computing architecture specifically tailored for unmanned systems. Owing to the underactuation of USV dynamic systems and the presence of various time-varying surface disturbances, attaining rapid and accurate position control along with maneuverability poses a significant challenge to USVs. Therefore, when an USV maneuvers around a target in a confined search area with obstacles, it is essential for the guidance law to consider collision risks and environmental disturbances. This paper proposes a modified Lyapunov vector field with heading deviation compensation to circle the target in complex search regions. The vector field is designed to increase the radial velocity of the USV and accelerate convergence towards the target circle during the pursuit phase. By combining the proposed Lyapunov vector field with a boundary vector field, the USV can swiftly avoid boundaries and dynamic obstacles and then continue circling the target. The proposed computing architecture extends the application scope of the target circumnavigation to practical water surface environments, which is validated by extensive simulations and rigorous experiments. © 2025 IEEE.

Conditional Privacy-Preserving Transaction for the Unspent Transaction Output-Based Multi-Chain Blockchain System

The anonymity of blockchain may be exploited by criminals for illegal fund transfers, thus a conditional privacy-preserving scheme is important for blockchain regulation. Currently, sharding technology under a multi-chain architecture is used to improve blockchain scalability. However, current conditional privacy-preserving schemes cannot work on this architecture. To protect the privacy of the transaction, we present a conditional privacy-preserving transaction scheme (MC-CPPT) for multi-chain blockchain system. In this system, we proposed a zero-knowledge proof based anonymous transaction, in terms of the identities of transaction participants and amounts, which also enables the unlinkability of transactions and indistinguishability between cross-chain and intra-chain transactions in multi-chain blockchain system. In addition, a multi-node regulatory agency is introduced to control the transaction amount and frequency in the system without a single point of failure. Moreover, an ECC-based encryption scheme is proposed to achieve the traceability of suspicious transactions. A security model is defined and the security of MC-CPPT is demonstrated to meet the expected security goals. Evaluating the prototype revealed acceptable performance and additional security features. © 1968-2012 IEEE.

MFA-LJP: IMPROVED LEGAL JUDGMENT PREDICTION USING BERT EMBEDDINGS-BASED MULTIFRACTAL ANALYSIS

Legal Judgment Prediction (LJP) is the task of automatically predicting judgment results based on case fact descriptions. However, these fact descriptions can be regarded as lengthy and complex chains of events, and traditional text feature extraction methods struggle to capture the complex multi-scale features from them. To address this, we propose a legal judgment prediction model based on multifractal analysis and BERT embeddings (MFA-LJP). In this work, we treat the [CLS] embeddings from BERT as one-dimensional time series and perform multifractal analysis to reveal the multifractal properties that these time series exhibit. Furthermore, for each time series, we extract multifractal parameters and concatenate them with the corresponding output from the BiGRU to create a new feature vector. Finally, this feature vector is used as the input to a fully connected layer for the prediction tasks of applicable law articles, charges, and terms of penalty, respectively. Experiments on CAIL datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of MFA. With only 11 multifractal parameters added, MFA-LJP can achieve considerable performance improvement in three sub-tasks. Compared to the current best baseline model HD-LJP, on the CAIL-small dataset, MFA-LJP improves the F1 scores for applicable law articles, charges, and terms of penalty by 5.63%, 2.54%, and 2.95%, respectively. Similarly, on the CAIL-big dataset, MFA-LJP also shows notable achievements, with F1 scores for applicable law articles, charges, and terms of penalty improving by 3.08%, 4.33%, and 8.91%, respectively. © 2025 World Scientific Publishing Company.

Lifetime Prediction of Topcon Modules Based on Accelerated Damp Heat Life Tests

Tunnel Oxide Passivation Contacts (TOPCon) solar cells have achieved high efficiency and become mainstream product in the global photovoltaic (PV) market. However, their long-term reliability, especially under high-temperature and high-humidity conditions, lacks sufficient field validation, and there is a lack of lifetime prediction models for TOPCon modules. To address this, we developed a robust accelerated aging model by integrating an improved Peck model with a sigmoidal degradation function, incorporating internal humidity and temperature as critical factors. The model employs a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to calibrate activation energy and humidity sensitivity parameters, enabling precise degradation trajectory simulation. Validated through a "fitting + testing" framework, the model achieves high accuracy (RMSE = 0.7%) in predicting power degradation under Damp Heat (DH), Highly Accelerated Stress Test (HAST), and modified Pressure Cooker Test (mPCT) conditions. Accelerated aging tests reveal that DH-induced degradation primarily reduces fill factor (FF) due to finger corrosion, with minimal impact on Voc and Isc. Experimental validation using a non-commercial corrosion-sensitive BOM combination shows that polyolefin elastomer (POE)-encapsulated modules exhibit superior corrosion resistance, projecting a service lifetime 23 years longer than EVA/EVA encapsulation in high-humidity regions like Hainan. This work bridges the gap in TOPCon module lifetime prediction under extreme environments, offering actionable insights for optimizing encapsulation materials and enhancing reliability. The model provides a scalable framework for evaluating module performance under site-specific climatic conditions, accelerating the development of durable PV technologies. © 2025, The Authors. A Passive Mixed Loaded Over-Hundred-Octave Miniaturized Super-Wideband Antenna

An over-hundred-octave miniaturized super- wideband antenna based on passive elements mixed loading is proposed and analyzed in this paper. The proposed antenna is composed of inversed E-radiation patch, feeding line, several passive mixed loaded elements. The entire size of the proposed antenna is 0.012λ×0.01λ×0.00005λ (where λ is the lowest frequency of realized bandwidth). Derived from the analysis of impedance and equivalent circuit, by properly adjusting the inversed E-radiation patch and loading 5 passive elements into the construction of the antenna in position, the bandwidth is greatly improved. The simulated and measured results show that a -10dB fractional bandwidth of 196.2% is realized. Moreover, good omni-directional radiation patterns within the operating frequency band have been achieved from 10MHz to 1051MHz for HF, VHF and UHF applications. © 2002-2011 IEEE.

HTL-WASI preconditioner for finite element discretization of complex ADR equation and its application

The convection diffusion reaction (ADR) equation is widely used in engineering applications. In this paper, we focus on a complex ADR equation arising from Helmholtz equation with impedance boundary conditions, prove the coerceiveness and boundedness of the sesquilinear functional and discuss the fast solver of the discretization. Firstly, we design a Weighted Additive Schwarz with Impedance (WASI) preconditioner, in order to overcome the dependence of the WASI preconditioner on the number of subdomains and the overlapping width, an ideal coarse space is designed. Although it can be proved that the corresponding hybrid two-level preconditioner is the exact inverse of the ADR coefficient matrix, the dimension of this coarse space is too big. In order to overcome this deficiency, a smaller dimensional coarse space was constructed by introducing local generalized eigenvalue problems (GEP) on each subdomain, and the descent rate of the corresponding two-level preconditioned GMRES method was rigorously analyzed which does not depend on mesh size, overlapping width, wave number k, and the absorption parameter. Since the size of the coarse space is sensitive to k and the GEP on each subdomain needs to be solved, the computational cost is too high. Therefore, we design an iterative method based on an economical two-level preconditioner, and establish a heuristic convergence theory that is supported by numerical results. Numerical experiments show the robustness of GMRES with the corresponding economical two-level preconditioner(HTLE-WASI-GMRES). Finally, for the Helmholtz finite element discretization, by using the Shifted Laplace technique and ADR equation, we design a novel fast solver combining with HTLE-WASI-GMRES for ADR equation. Numerical experiments have demonstrated the effectiveness of the algorithm. © 2025

In this work, we present a subband adaptive filtering (SAF) algorithm with good robustness for impulsive noise environments. The proposed squared sine normalized SAF (SS-NSAF) algorithm employs a squared sine function and is inspired by the idea of normalization. A statistical analysis of the proposed SS-NSAF algorithm is carried out under impulsive noise environments, which includes stability conditions for the convergence and analytical formulas to predict the mean-square deviation of the SS-NSAF algorithm. Numerical simulations for system-identification and echo cancellation applications are conducted to illustrate the performance of the SS-NSAF algorithm and competing techniques in impulsive noise environments.

A Miniaturized Bandwidth Reconfigurable Bandpass Chip Filter with Semi-lumped Topology and GaAs pHEMT Technology

A miniaturized reconfigurable bandpass chip filter with semi-lumped topology and Gallium Arsenide pseudomorphic High electron mobility transistor（GaAs pHEMT） technology is proposed. Semi-lumped topology is employed to instead the traditional lumped inductor with microstrip transmission line, which can reduced the size of the tunable filter significantly. Three-order series and shunt resonated bandpass filter is implemented with shorted stubs and metal-insulator-metal capacitors. Two transmission zeros are introduced with the series resonator and the shunted GaAs FET. By tuning the gate bias circuit of the FET, the capacitance of the series resonator is changed and the bandwidth of the filter is adjusted correspondingly. An equivalent circuit model is developed to interpret the mechanism of the proposed filter circuit. A reconfigurable on chip filter sample operated at 10 GHz is fabricated to validate the design. Two fractional bandwidth of 14.3% and 23.5% are tuned with bias voltage of the FET, while insertion loss of 2.4 d B and 2.2 d B are observed with the filter, respectively. The area of the chip filter is 0.86 × 0.96 mm2and is equivalent to an electrical length of 0.08 × 0.09λg2at center frequency. Measurement results agree well with the simulation ones.

Total Field and Scattered Field Technique for Fourth-Order Symplectic Finite Difference Time Domain Method

Using symplectic integrator propagator, a three-dimensional fourth-order symplectic finite difference time domain （SFDTD） method is studied, which is of the fourth order in both the time and space domains. The method is nondissipative and can save more memory compared with the traditional FDTD method. The total field and scattered field （TF-SF） technique is derived for the SFDTD method to provide the incident wave source conditions. The bistatic radar cross section （RCS） of a dielectric sphere is computed by using the SFDTD method for the first time. Numerical results suggest that the SFDTD algorithm acquires better stability and accuracy compared with the traditional FDTD method.
