An Adaptive Disturbance Rejection controller for Artificial Pancreas

Artificial pancreas (AP) systems are designed to automate glucose management for patients with type 1 diabetes. In this work, we propose an adaptive disturbance rejection control approach for AP systems to achieve safe and effective glucose regulation. The controller is built within the framework of active disturbance rejection control, but incorporates safety operation constraints, and glucose- and velocity-dependent parameter adaptation modules for the key control parameters. In silico performance comparison between the proposed controller and an adaptive zone model predictive controller (MPC) (Shi, Dassau, and Doyle III, 2019a) is conducted on the 10-adult cohort of the FDA-accepted UVA/Padova T1DM simulator. For both announced and unannounced meals, the controller achieves comparable glucose regulation performance in terms of mean glucose (134.9 mg/dL vs. 135.4 mg/dL, p < 0.001; 149.7 mg/dL vs. 151.7 mg/dL, p < 0.001, respectively) and percentage time in [70, 180] mg/dL (93.8% vs. 92.4%, p < 0.001; 76.0% vs. 72.4%, p < 0.001, respectively) without increasing the risk of hypoglycemia. The results indicate the feasibility of achieving comparable glucose regulation performance through a non-optimization control law for AP systems.

The monitoring and fault detection for the Czochralski (Cz) crystal growth process is important to ensure the quality of the produced mono-crystalline silicon. The Cz process is a typical multi-modes industrial process, which makes the detection difficult in distinguish the change caused by the fault or mode switching. In this paper, an adaptive fault detection strategy for Cz crystal growth process is proposed. Firstly, quality-related variables are selected from numerous process variables, based on which the training dataset is constructed. Then, a fault detection model is built based on slowly-varying feature and statics indicator. A model switching strategy and updating algorithm are designed to handle the abnormal situation caused by the mode switching or fault occurrence. Three representative experiments are conducted to verify the performance of the proposed strategy, including numerical cases, a publicly available dataset, and Cz crystal growth process from our laboratory. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Recent object detection models have achieved satisfactory performance by deep learning with large-scale annotated datasets. However, these models often perform poorly when the training examples are not sufficient enough, especially for one-shot object detection where there is only one training example of each target class. In this paper, we propose a network parameter generation framework for effective one-shot object detection. By leveraging the semantic relationship between the source-domain and the target-domain (new classes), our framework can generate network parameters for the new classes directly. Furthermore, we develop two implementation schemes for this framework: weighting-based parameter generation and regression-based parameter generation. These two schemes use different information to construct the relationship and transfer knowledge from the source-domain to the target-domain. Experiments on the PASCAL-OSCD benchmark show that our methods can significantly boost the performance of one-shot object detection. © 2019 IEEE.

The current of the distribution networks under 66kV is widely operating in small current grounding mode. The problem of extracting the fault feature in each line would be quite difficult due to the short duration of the transient zero sequence current with the non-stationary and non-linear characteristics when the single-phase-to-ground fault occurs in the system. Therefore, a novel method of single-phase-to-ground fault line selection for small current based on Fast S-transform (FST) is developed in this paper. Firstly, FST is presented to transform the transient electric current signal in each feeder, after that the one-dimension modulus and phase angle value can been obtained. Then, the feeder with the largest energy value calculated by the modulus obtained above is selected as the alternative possible fault line. Finally, line failure or bus failure can been determined by evaluating the difference of the phase angle between the fault line and the comparison line that has been selected from the non-alternative feeders before. The results of the simulative and experimental circuits reveal that the proposed method using FST can avoid the influence of neural point grounding type. Additionally, the method of line selection is quite accurate and real-time. © 2018 IEEE.

The accurate position estimation plays an critical role in the autonomous navigation for Micro Aerial Vehicles(MAV).Global positioning system(GPS) and inertial measurement unit(IMU) are two common sensors for navigation widely used on MAVs in the urban environment. Both of them have its distinct disadvantages that the GPS is susceptible to environmental interference and the IMU has accumulative errors. To overcome these problems, a GPS/IMU integrated system based on the factor graph optimization is developed in this paper. Unlike the conventional extended Kalman filter(EKF)-based method, the graph optimization method takes the whole trajectory into consideration so that it can achieve enough accuracy even after a long distance. Furthermore, the IMU preintegration method is used to avoid the repeated computation of high-rate IMU *** with the EKF method, the experimental results on the Zurich urban micro aerial vehicle dataset show the superior accuracy of the proposed factor graph optimization algorithm.

This paper presents a hybrid protocol design for distributed non-differentiable extended monotropic optimization problems, which have various applications in large-scale optimization and evolutionary computation. The considered objective function is the sum of local non-differentiable objective functions, which are assigned to different agents in multi-agent networks, with local set constraints and affine equality constraints. Each agent can only access to its local non-differentiable objective function, local set constraint and equality constraint, and exchange information with its neighbors to obtain the global optimal solution. For this type of optimization problems, we propose a distributed state-dependent hybrid method over multi-agent networks. In addition, we properly design the jump map and jump set to improve the transient performance and accelerate the consensus process of existing distributed continuous-time methods. With invariance principle of hybrid dynamical systems, we prove that the proposed hybrid protocol converges to the global optimal solution. We verify that the proposed hybrid method has a good convergence property and transient performance through numerical experiments.

Non-fragile finite-time dissipative piecewise control for time-varying system with time-varying delay

This study is concerned with the problem of non-fragile finite-time dissipative (FTD) control for time-varying system with delay. The delay is time varying and belongs to a given interval. Finite-time bounded (FTB) and FTD concepts are introduced to time-varying system with delay. First, new FTB conditions are derived for time-varying system with delay by using a piecewise Lyapunov functional combined with reciprocally convex approach. Second, FTD conditions are obtained to guarantee that the time-varying system with delay is not only FTB but also satisfies a dissipative performance index. Moreover, based on the FTD conditions, the non-fragile piecewise feedback controllers are designed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). In addition, an LMI-based iterative algorithm is given to obtain the piecewise feedback non-fragile controller gains. Finally, numerical examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper establishes a satellite network topology optimization model based on satellite orbital dynamics, establishes constraints from two aspects of satellite geometric visibility and satellite elevation constraints in the concept of inter-satellite links, and finally solves the above optimization problems by using simulated annealing algorithm, and presents a time-varying satellite network topology optimization method. In the actual simulation, we give a satellite network with multiple satellites and optimize it. The optimal solution of the network configuration is obtained, and a shortest inter-satellite transmission path from signal start star to signal termination star based on time-varying is solved. For this inter-satellite link, the connectivity of inter-satellite link and the fault tolerance of satellite network are analyzed, which proves the feasibility and validity of the optimization method.

Cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies have developed in parallel in recent years, with technological breakthroughs in currency issuance, payment methods, and currency storage. However, the existing cryptocurrencies cannot replace fiat money. There is a huge gap between decentralized cryptocurrency and central bank digital currency, namely CBDC, in terms of monetary governance and circulation. In this paper, we propose the function and security requirements of CBDC, through a comprehensive analysis of the existing typical cryptocurrency and the prototype of the CBDC scheme. On this basis, we present a blockchain-based framework for CBDC with three layers, including supervisory layer, network layer and user layer, and describe the key business processes of the CBDC's entire lifecycle of issuance-circulation-withdrawal in detail. Finally, we take cross-border payment as an example to explain the transaction process of CBDC. We aim to provide theoretical guidance for CBDC design. © 2019 IEEE.

The axle temperature is an important performance index for high-speed train axle, and many types of high-precision detection device have been developed. However, because the existing hotbox detection system works by comparing the measured value with fixed and experiential temperature thresholds, without considering the dynamic influence of running environment, the rates of fault and failure alarm are still high. Regarding this problem, this paper is to realize high precision fault diagnosis. Firstly, the characteristics of the temperature rising rates of all axles, the axles on the same side of a carriage, the axles on the same side of a whole train are analyzed. Secondly, the support vector machine (SVM) is employed to establish a data-based fault diagnosis model, and the model is optimized using genetic algorithm. Finally, the proposed method is applied to an actual running data, the analysis results demonstrated the effectiveness and feasibility. © 2018 IEEE.
