The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, big data, and generative AI models has ushered in significant transformations across various sectors, including education. Digital Human Technique, an innovative technology grounded in advanced computer science and artificial intelligence, is reshaping educational paradigms by enabling virtual humans to simulate human behavior, express emotions, and interact with users. This paper explores the application of Digital Human Technique in education reform, focusing on creating immersive, intelligent classroom experiences that foster meaningful interactions between teachers and students. We define Digital Human Technique and delve into its key technical components such as character modeling and rendering, natural language processing, computer vision, and augmented reality technologies. Our methodology involves analyzing the role of educational digital humans created through these technologies, assessing their impact on educational processes, and examining various application scenarios in educational reform. Results indicate that Digital Human Technique significantly enhances the learning experience by enabling personalized teaching, increasing engagement, and fostering emotional connections. Educational digital humans serve as virtual teachers, interactive learning aids, and facilitators of emotional interaction, effectively addressing the challenges of traditional educational methods. They also promote a deeper understanding of complex concepts through simulated environments and interactive digital content. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Since the marine diesel engine is one of the most popular power equipments for modern shipping, accurate and timely diagnose the faults occurred in diesel engine is extraordinary important for long service life and high reliability. Note that Fisher discriminant analysis (FDA) has been widely applied in fault diagnosis field. However, it is quite susceptible to the small sample size (SSS) problem, which is very common in the running process of diesel engine. In response to the problem, this study pro-poses a new fault classification criterion based exponential discriminant analysis (EDA) scheme for diesel engine fault diagnosis, in which the exponential transformation is carried out first to enlarge the margin between different classes, thus the different fault classes are further separated and the diagnosis capability is enhanced. In addition, the theorems of matrix exponential guarantee that the matrix exp (Sw) is always full-rank, even though the Sw is singular. That means, the novel methodology is still appli-cable when confronts with the SSS problem. Finally, based on the more reasonable fault classification criterion, the simulation results on a real-world two-stroke six-cylinder low-speed marine diesel engine indicate that the EDA based diagnosis scheme achieves higher fault diagnosis accuracy with good robustness and practicability in real-world engineering applications. © 2022 IEEE.

Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) is the standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). With the development of artificial intelligence, an increasing number of studies have begun to explore its application in cancer treatment prediction. However, the prior methods exhibit considerable variability even with slight modifications to the input data, which could potentially undermine the reliability of the results. In this paper, we proposed RP-Net, a novel multi-modal fusion-based framework that combines feature information from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and whole slide images (WSI), establishing a relationship to map the therapeutic effectiveness of nCRT for LARC. We investigated the relationship of the tumour region and its periphery tissues, and demonstrated the validity of the proposed framework that involving 11 different combinations of modalities. The experimental results revealed that it has achieved higher prediction accuracy compared to the four intra-categories single-modal combinations and outperformed the two intra-categories multi-modal combinations. When compared to the other four inter-categories multi-modal combinations, the fusion features get accuracy of 2% ∼ 6% improvement respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Vision language models (VLMs) have achieved impressive progress in diverse applications, becoming a prevalent research direction. In this paper, we build FIRE, a feedback-refinement dataset, consisting of 1.1M multi-turn conversations that are derived from 27 source datasets, empowering VLMs to spontaneously refine their responses based on user feedback across diverse tasks. To scale up the data collection, FIRE is collected in two components: FIRE-100K and FIRE-1M, where FIRE-100K is generated by GPT-4V, and FIRE-1M is freely generated via models trained on FIRE-100K. Then, we build FIRE-Bench, a benchmark to comprehensively evaluate the feedback-refining capability of VLMs, which contains 11K feedback-refinement conversations as the test data, two evaluation settings, and a model to provide feedback for VLMs. We develop the FIRE-LLaVA model by fine-tuning LLaVA on FIRE-100K and FIRE-1M, which shows remarkable feedback-refining capability on FIRE-Bench and outperforms untrained VLMs by 50%, making more efficient user-agent interactions and underscoring the significance of the FIRE dataset. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. In recent years, pre-training models represented by BERT have shown amazing text semantic representation capabilities supported by large-scale corpus, and now have become one of the mainstream solutions for semantic matching tasks in legal Q&A systems. However, pre-training models generally do not set specific pre-training tasks in terms of syntactic information, but implicitly and incidentally learn in large-scale unsupervised, which does not make good use of syntactic information as an important factor for representing semantics. To address this problem, this paper proposes a multi-granularity feature semantic matching model based on BERT and graph convolution. The model first obtains syntactic features of sentences in the form of dependent syntactic trees using existing tools, and then fuses syntactic features with word features and sentence features of BERT using an attention mechanism and graph convolutional neural network to enhance the characterization of text semantics and make the model better for semantic matching tasks. Experimental results show that the algorithm achieves significant improvements in the semantic matching task and outperforms the five comparison methods in the DIAC2019 dataset. Compared to the baseline model Sentenct-BERT, the accuracy, precision, recall and F1 values are improved by 0.33%, 1.18%, 1.03% and 1.05% improvement. © 2023 ACM.

To address the problems of inaccurate event element extraction, inability to directly handle long texts and errors in the fine-tuning stage of the task due to insufficient semantic information and incomplete semantic feature samples in the current Chinese domain event extraction model, this paper proposes the Chinese Event Extraction Algorithm of Multi-information Semantic Enhancements (MiSE). In the embedding stage, the algorithm is designed a coding structure that fusing multiple information: Using the Roformer model based on rotational encoding for word embedding and text embedding, and augment the Roformer word embedding matrix by mapping the word embedding matrixs of event trigger, argument information and their location information to it , forming an vector matrix that incorporates multiple information;the matrix is then placed into the BiLSTM for forward and backward chain calculation to enhance the model's ability to extract semantic information from Chinese text. In the decoding stage, using the decoding structure to obtain the set of tags with the highest probability. Comparing this algorithm with several Chinese event extraction algorithms on the Baidu DuEE dataset and its extraction results outperformed other event extraction algorithms in all evaluation metrics. © 2023 ACM.

Functional dependencies (FDs) form a valuable ingredient for various data management tasks. However, existing methods can hardly discover practical and interpretable FDs, especially in large noisy real-life datasets. This paper studies the problem of discovering meaningful functional dependencies (FDms) that utilize support and error parameters to capture interesting dependencies in such datasets and proposes an efficient discovery algorithm called FDM?. In order to scale with large datasets, FDM ? employs an efficient sampling method with accuracy guarantees to capture the differences between tuple pairs and to quantify the connection between support/error of dependencies on samples and those on the entire dataset. Moreover, it adopts a clustering-based correlated attributes extraction to divide the exponentially large search space into multiple small sub-spaces and proposes an easy-first traversal strategy with covariance-based guidance that quickly detects candidate dependencies and validates them. Additionally, we prove a covariance lower bound as an additional pruning criterion to reduce the search space. Extensive experiments on real-life and synthetic datasets demonstrate that FDM ? is 14 times faster than existing discovery algorithms on average, up to 31 times, and scales to larger datasets with the least memory cost. © 2024 IEEE.

Diffusion models are initially designed for image generation. Recent research shows that the internal signals within their backbones, named activations, can also serve as dense features for various discriminative tasks such as semantic segmentation. Given numerous activations, selecting a small yet effective subset poses a fundamental problem. To this end, the early study of this field performs a large-scale quantitative comparison of the discriminative ability of the activations. However, we find that many potential activations have not been evaluated, such as the queries and keys used to compute attention scores. Moreover, recent advancements in diffusion architectures bring many new activations, such as those within embedded ViT modules. Both combined, activation selection remains unresolved but overlooked. To tackle this issue, this paper takes a further step with a much broader range of activations evaluated. Considering the significant increase in activations, a full-scale quantitative comparison is no longer operational. Instead, we seek to understand the properties of these activations, such that the activations that are clearly inferior can be filtered out in advance via simple qualitative evaluation. After careful analysis, we discover three properties universal among diffusion models, enabling this study to go beyond specific models. On top of this, we present effective feature selection solutions for several popular diffusion models. Finally, the experiments across multiple discriminative tasks validate the superiority of our method over the SOTA competitors. The Area Under the ROC Curve (AUC) is a well-known metric for evaluating instance-level long-tail learning problems. In the past two decades, many AUC optimization methods have been proposed to improve model performance under long-tail distributions. In this paper, we explore AUC optimization methods in the context of pixel-level long-tail semantic segmentation, a much more complicated scenario. This task introduces two major challenges for AUC optimization techniques. On one hand, AUC optimization in a pixel-level task involves complex coupling across loss terms, with structured inner-image and pairwise inter-image dependencies, complicating theoretical analysis. On the other hand, we find that mini-batch estimation of AUC loss in this case requires a larger batch size, resulting in an unaffordable space complexity. To address these issues, we develop a pixel-level AUC loss function and conduct a dependency-graph-based theoretical analysis of the algorithm's generalization ability. Additionally, we design a Tail-Classes Memory Bank (T-Memory Bank) to manage the significant memory demand. Finally, comprehensive experiments across various benchmarks confirm the effectiveness of our proposed AUCSeg method. The code is available at https://***/boyuh/AUCSeg.

The scarcity of fault samples presents a significant challenge for fault diagnosis in industrial processes. Conventional methods often fail to deliver satisfactory results when dealing with small sample sizes. In addressing the issue of small sample fault diagnosis in industrial processes, this paper utilizes the Variational Mode Reconstruction(VMR) algorithm to screen the best components decomposed by the Variational Mode Decomposition(VMD) through the envelope entropy then random weighting them and signal reconstruction to achieve data enhancement, to enrich the sample size and to prevent the model overfitting phenomenon due to the scarcity of samples. Meanwhile, this paper integrates Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Long Short-term Memory Neural Network (LSTM) to propose a network model of spatio-temporal feature fusion for feature extraction and classification. The experiments demonstrate that this model not only enhances data diversity but also ensures consistency before and after enhancement, effectively mitigating overfitting. Furthermore, it guarantees high recognition and generalization rates in fault diagnosis. © 2024 IEEE.
