Exploring the tidal effect of urban business district with large-scale human mobility data

Business districts are urban areas that have various functions for gathering people,such as work,consumption,leisure and *** to the dynamic nature of business activities,there exists significant tidal effect on the boundary and functionality of business ***,effectively analyzing the tidal patterns of business districts can benefit the economic and social development of a ***,with the implicit and complex nature of business district evolution,it is non-trivial for existing works to support the fine-grained and timely analysis on the tidal effect of business *** this end,we propose a data-driven and multi-dimensional framework for dynamic business district ***,we use the large-scale human trajectory data in urban areas to dynamically detect and forecast the boundary changes of business districts in different time ***,we detect and forecast the functional changes in business *** results on real-world trajectory data clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of our framework on detecting and predicting the boundary and functionality change of business ***,the analysis on practical business districts shows that our method can discover meaningful patterns and provide interesting insights into the dynamics of business *** example,the major functions of business districts will significantly change in different time periods in a day and the rate and magnitude of boundaries varies with the functional distribution of business districts.

In existing remote sensing image retrieval(RSIR)datasets,the number of images among different classes varies dramatically,which leads to a severe class imbalance *** studies propose to train the model with the ranking‐based metric(e.g.,average precision[AP]),because AP is robust to class ***,current AP‐based methods overlook an important issue:only optimising samples ranking before each positive sample,which is limited by the definition of AP and is prone to local *** achieve global optimisation of AP,a novel method,namely Optimising Samples after positive ones&AP loss(OSAP‐Loss)is proposed in this ***,a novel superior ranking function is designed to make the AP loss differentiable while providing a tighter upper ***,a novel loss called Optimising Samples after Positive ones(OSP)loss is proposed to involve all positive and negative samples ranking after each positive one and to provide a more flexible optimisation strategy for each ***,a graphics processing unit memory‐free mechanism is developed to thoroughly address the non‐decomposability of AP *** experimental results on RSIR as well as conventional image retrieval datasets show the superiority and competitive performance of OSAP‐Loss compared to the state‐of‐the‐art.

Based on the equivalent circuit model of PIN diode and the full wave simulation method of CST software, the system performance of finite large energy selective surface (ESS) is simulated and analyzed when the number of cells is small. The simulation results show that the working performance of ESS will be degraded by the slight surface deformation caused by external force but not fail completely. Therefore, in the practical application of ESS, attention should be paid to avoid deformation caused by external force extrusion, which will reduce the shielding performance of ESS. The simulation results provide reference value for the practical design and application of energy selective surface. © 2022 IEEE.

Agent-SiMT: Agent-Assisted Simultaneous Translation With Large Language Models

Simultaneous Machine Translation (SiMT) generates target translations in real-time while reading the source sentence. It relies on a policy to determine the optimal timing for producing translations, aiming to achieve both low response latency and high translation quality. Existing SiMT methods typically utilize the traditional Transformer architecture, employing complicated dynamic programming algorithms to jointly optimize policy decisions and translation generation. While these methods excel at determining policies, their translation capabilities are suboptimal. In contrast, Large Language Models (LLMs), trained on extensive corpora, exhibit exceptional generation capabilities but struggle to learn translation policies through traditional Transformer-based training methods. To address these limitations, we introduce Agent-SiMT, a novel framework combining the strengths of LLMs and traditional SiMT methods. Agent-SiMT contains a policy-decision agent and a translation agent. The policy-decision agent is managed by a SiMT model, which determines the policy using partial source sentences and translations. The translation agent, powered by an LLM, generates the target translation according to the policy decisions. These two agents work collaboratively to perform SiMT. Experiments demonstrate that our method attains state-of-the-art performance.

Network monitoring and measurement is an important part of realizing the network digital twin. However, it introduces the problem of high cost when obtaining the status data of physical networks. Therefore, to efficiently achieve network observability, we first introduce potential techniques and network scenarios for implementing network measurements. Then, a High-Yield Segment Routing over IPv6 based In-band Network Telemetry (HY-SRv6-INT) system is proposed in this paper. In particular, we design the HY-SRv6-INT system architecture. It consists of IPv6 switches implemented by the P4 language and a Software-Defined Networking (SDN) controller containing the HY-SRv6-INT application. Next, we experimentally demonstrate a packet-level path-associated network measurement process. In addition, the performance of the HY-SRv6-INT system is also quantitatively evaluated to verify its advantages. Object navigation,whose goal is to let the agent to reach some places(or objects),has been a popular topic in embodied Artificial Intelligence(AI)***,in our real-world applications,it is more practical to find the targets with particular goals,raising the new requirements of finding the places to achieve the particular *** this paper,we define a new task of affordance navigation,whose goal is to find possible places to accomplish the required functions,achieving some particular *** first introduce a new dataset for affordance navigation,collected by the proposed affordance *** order to avoid the high cost of labor,the groundtruth of each episode which is annotated with the interaction data provided by the AI2-THOR *** addition,we also propose an affordance navigation framework,where an Object-to-Manipulation Graph(OMG)is constructed and optimized to emphasize the corresponding nodes(including object nodes and manipulation nodes).Finally,a navigation policy is implemented(trained by reinforcement learning)to guide the navigation to the target *** results on AI2-THOR simulator illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach,which achieves significant gains of 14.0%and 11.7%(on success rate and Success weighted by Path Length(SPL),respectively)over the baseline model.

As one of the most fundamental topics in reinforcement learning(RL),sample efficiency is essential to the deployment of deep RL *** most existing exploration methods that sample an action from different types of posterior distributions,we focus on the policy sampling process and propose an efficient selective sampling approach to improve sample efficiency by modeling the internal hierarchy of the ***,we first employ clustering methods in the policy sampling process to generate an action candidate *** we introduce a clustering buffer for modeling the internal hierarchy,which consists of on-policy data,off-policy data,and expert data to evaluate actions from the clusters in the action candidate set in the exploration *** this way,our approach is able to take advantage of the supervision information in the expert demonstration *** on six different continuous locomotion environments demonstrate superior reinforcement learning performance and faster convergence of selective *** particular,on the LGSVL task,our method can reduce the number of convergence steps by 46.7%and the convergence time by 28.5%.Furthermore,our code is open-source for *** code is available at https://***/Shihwin/SelectiveSampling.

With the increasing abundance of multimedia data resources, researches on mining the relationship between different modalities to achieve refined cross-modal retrieval are gradually emerging. In this paper, we propose a novel Semantic Maximum Relevance and Modal Alignment (SMR-MA) for Cross-Modal Retrieval, which utilizes the pre-trained model with abundant image text information to extract the features of each image text, and further promotes the modal information interaction between the same semantic categories through the modal alignment module and the multi-layer perceptron with shared weights. In addition, multi-modal embedding is distributed to the normalized hypersphere, and angular edge penalty is applied between feature embedding and weight in angular space to maximize the classification boundary, thus increasing both intra-class similarity and inter-class difference. Comprehensive analysis experiments on three benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed method has superior performance in cross-modal retrieval tasks and is significantly superior to the state-of-the-art cross-modal retrieval methods. © 2022 ACM.

A four-port multi-input multi-output (MIMO) dielectric resonator (DR) antenna (DRA) is presented in this paper. Combing four rectangular DRs together can form a single DR element. With shape modification and conformal strips, the four ports can be decoupled. To verify the design idea, a transparent prototype can be designed and fabricated for 2.4-GHz band applications. The measured results show an impedance bandwidth of 5.8% and an isolation level of 24 dB. © 2024 IEEE.

This article proposes a new predefined-time (PDT) stability theorem, which offers more evident advantages compared to previous predefined-time stability. Firstly, based on the limitations of existing PDT stability, this theorem relaxed the limitations of sufficient conditions, which fill the gap in the research on PDT stability. Secondly, the PDT synchronization of multi-modal memristive neural networks (MM-MNN) is analyzed by the usability of the new judgment theorem. A matching PDT controller is designed and sufficient synchronization control conditions is obtained by utilizing generalized Lyapunov functional method, set-valued mapping, inequality analysis technique and differential inclusion theory. Meanwhile, the topological characteristics of multi-modal neuron and its impact on network synchronization behavior are presented. Finally, we provide some confirmatory numerical simulations. © 2023 IEEE.
