Rotational motion blur caused by the circular motion of the camera or/and object is common in life. Identifying objects from images affected by rotational motion blur is challenging because this image degradation severely impacts image quality. Therefore, it is meaningful to develop image invariant features under rotational motion blur and then use them in practical tasks, such as object classification and template matching. This paper proposes a novel method to generate image moment invariants under general rotational motion blur and provides some instances. Further, we achieve their invariance to similarity transform. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that moment invariants for rotational motion blur have been proposed in the literature. We conduct extensive experiments on various image datasets disturbed by similarity transform and rotational motion blur to test these invariants’ numerical stability and robustness to image noise. We also demonstrate their performance in image classification and handwritten digit recognition. Current state-of-the-art blur moment invariants and deep neural networks are chosen for comparison. Our results show that the moment invariants proposed in this paper significantly outperform other features in various tasks. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A control circuit for active metasurface based on varactor diode is designed in this paper. By varying the reverse bias voltage on the varactor diode, the designed circuit can regulate the additional phase of the active meta-atoms. The circuit adopts a form of one master and multiple slaves, which can simultaneously control the bias voltage of 960 meta-atoms. Each slave can control up to 64 channels. The control accuracy is 0.04V. The power consumption of a single slave is 160mW. Though experiment verification, the circuit has a good effect in controlling the beam deflection of the metasurface and generating OAM beams.

Maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) is a statistical method used to estimate the parameters of a probability distribution that best explain the observed data. In the context of text generation, MLE is often used to train generative language models, which can then be used to generate new text. However, we argue that MLE is not always necessary and optimal, especially for closed-ended text generation tasks like machine translation. In these tasks, the goal of model is to generate the most appropriate response, which does not necessarily require it to estimate the entire data distribution with MLE. To this end, we propose a novel class of training objectives based on convex functions, which enables text generation models to focus on highly probable outputs without having to estimate the entire data distribution. We investigate the theoretical properties of the optimal predicted distribution when applying convex functions to the loss, demonstrating that convex functions can sharpen the optimal distribution, thereby enabling the model to better capture outputs with high probabilities. Experiments on various text generation tasks and models show the effectiveness of our approach. It enables autoregressive models to bridge the gap between greedy and beam search, and facilitates the learning of non-autoregressive models with a maximum improvement of 9+ BLEU points. Moreover, our approach also exhibits significant impact on large language models (LLMs), substantially enhancing their generative capability on various tasks. Medical Body Area Networks (MBANs) increasingly utilize wireless communication technologies to enhance the freedom and convenience for patients and caregivers. Currently, radio frequency (RF) is the prevalent medium in healthcare applications;however, the potential for electromagnetic interference with precision medical equipment remains a concern. This study introduces a novel design and implementation of a medical healthcare information system using the newly developed Wireless Visible Light Communication (VLC) technology, also known as Light Fidelity (Li-Fi). Visible Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), expected to soon surpass traditional incandescent and fluorescent bulbs as the primary light source due to their energy efficiency, facilitate this technology. In this research, patient health is monitored using sensors, with results displayed on an LCD. An LED lightbulb transmits the data as light signals, which are captured by a photo-detector at the receiver's end. This setup not only displays the output on an LCD but also alerts caregivers through an auditory signal, beeping every 15 seconds for respiration and every 30 seconds for heart rate monitoring. Moreover, these lighting fixtures serve dual functions: illumination and wireless data transmission, using the rapid switching capability of LEDs. This prototype VLC-based system offers a promising alternative for data services and monitoring in hospital areas where RF use is restricted. © 2024 IEEE.

Terahertz technology has shown remarkable potential for application in the field of imaging since it offers several particular advantages such as great penetration capabilities, non-ionization and high instantaneous bandwidth. This paper presents a focal plane imging system based on CMOS terathertz detector for forward-looking detection. The focal plane imaging system has several advantages, including fast scanning, simple composition, low cost, and easy integration of a CMOS detector. It is composed of a terahertz radiation source, a Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) lens and a broadband CMOS detector. The detector was fabricated in a 65 nm CMOS process. The operating frequency range of the detector covers 75 GHz to 1000 GHz. Measurement results have shown that the focal plane imaging system is capable of stably imaging at frequencies of 100 GHz and 220 GHz. To address the issue of missing information in measurement images, the morphological closing algorithm is employed to process the original image, successfully filling in the missing information and improving image quality. © 2024 institute of Physics Publishing. In recent years, object detection has been widely used in various fields such as face detection, remote sensing image detection and pedestrian detection. Due to the complex environment in the actual scene, we need to fully obtain the feature information in the image to improve the accuracy of object detection. This paper proposes an object detection algorithm based on coordinate attention and contextual feature enhancement. We design a multi-scale attention feature pyramid network, which first uses multi-branch atrous convolution to capture multi-scale context information, and then fuses the coordinate attention mechanism to embed location information into channel attention, and finally uses a bidirectional feature pyramid structure to effectively fuse high-level features and low-level features. We also adopt the GIoU loss function to further improve the accuracy of object detection. The experimental results show that the proposed method has certain advantages compared with other detection algorithms in the PASCAL VOC datasets. © 2022 ACM.

Terahertz(THz)imaging has drawn significant attention because THz wave has a unique capability to transient,ultrawide spectrum and low photon ***,the low resolution has always been a problem due to its long wavelength,limiting their application of fields practical *** this paper,we proposed a complex one-shot super-resolution(COSSR)framework based on a complex convolution neural network to restore superior THz images at 0.35 times wavelength by extracting features directly from a reference measured sample and groundtruth without the measured *** with real convolution neural network-based approaches and complex zero-shot super-resolution(CZSSR),COSSR delivers at least 6.67,0.003,and 6.96%superior higher imaging efficacy in terms of peak signal to noise ratio(PSNR),mean square error(MSE),and structural similarity index measure(SSIM),respectively,for the analyzed ***,the proposed method is experimentally demonstrated to have a good generalization and to perform well on measured *** COSSR provides a new pathway for THz imaging super-resolution(SR)reconstruction below the diffraction limit.

With advancements in imaging technology, high-resolution remote sensing images are now readily available for applications such as urban planning, resource assessment, and land cover analysis. Roads are a crucial element of infrastructure, and extracting road information from high-resolution remote sensing images is vital for tasks like urban planning and mapping. However, existing road extraction techniques, which rely on traditional encoder-decoder architectures, often struggle to accurately delineate road boundaries and surfaces. As a result, these methods tend to produce subpar outcomes and are challenging to implement in practical systems. To address this issue, we introduce a novel quadratic encoding-decoding W-shaped network, referred to as QE-WNet. This approach recognizes the differing characteristics of road bodies and boundaries—where road boundaries are more stable in semantic representation and road bodies are less so. In the first stage of encoding and decoding, we focus on modeling road boundaries, while the second stage emphasizes road bodies, leveraging the more stable secondary encoding-decoding information. This separation enhances the accuracy of road extraction. We conduct comparative experiments using several established methods on the Deepglobe dataset, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method.

Vision language models (VLMs) have achieved impressive progress in diverse applications, becoming a prevalent research direction. In this paper, we build FIRE, a feedback-refinement dataset, consisting of 1.1M multi-turn conversations that are derived from 27 source datasets, empowering VLMs to spontaneously refine their responses based on user feedback across diverse tasks. To scale up the data collection, FIRE is collected in two components: FIRE-100K and FIRE-1M, where FIRE-100K is generated by GPT-4V, and FIRE-1M is freely generated via models trained on FIRE-100K. Then, we build FIRE-Bench, a benchmark to comprehensively evaluate the feedback-refining capability of VLMs, which contains 11K feedback-refinement conversations as the test data, two evaluation settings, and a model to provide feedback for VLMs. We develop the FIRE-LLaVA model by fine-tuning LLaVA on FIRE-100K and FIRE-1M, which shows remarkable feedback-refining capability on FIRE-Bench and outperforms untrained VLMs by 50%, making more efficient user-agent interactions and underscoring the significance of the FIRE dataset.
