Transition from conventional to digital pathology requires a new category of biomedical informatic infrastructure which could facilitate delicate pathological routine. Pathological diagnoses are sensitive to many external factors and is known to be subjective. Only systems that can meet strict requirements in pathology would be able to run along pathological routines and eventually digitized the area, and the developed platform should comply with existing pathological routines and international standards. Currently, there are a number of available software tools which can perform histopathological tasks including virtual slide viewing, annotating, and basic image analysis, however, none of them can serve as a digital platform for pathology. Here we describe OpenHI2, an enhanced version Open Histopathological Image platform which is capable of supporting all basic pathological tasks and file formats;ready to be deployed in medical institutions on a standard server environment or cloud computing infrastructure. In this paper, we also describe the development decisions for the platform and propose solutions to overcome technical challenges including responsive region retrieval and viewing, virtual slide magnification, recording of diagnostic areas. These factors would promote OpenHI2 be used as a platform for histopathological images in real-world clinical settings. Furthermore, in research, OpenHI2 inherited the annotation functionality from the previous version, thus acquired annotations can be directly utilized by the newly added machine learning module which include popular machine learning models to perform tasks such as histology image classification and segmentation in the same environment. Joint Ranking SVM and Binary Relevance with Robust Low-Rank Learning for Multi-Label Classification

Multi-label classification studies the task where each example belongs to multiple labels simultaneously. As a representative method, Ranking Support Vector Machine (Rank-SVM) aims to minimize the Ranking Loss and can also mitigate the negative influence of the class-imbalance issue. However, due to its stacking-style way for thresholding, it may suffer error accumulation and thus reduces the final classification performance. Binary Relevance (BR) is another typical method, which aims to minimize the Hamming Loss and only needs one-step learning. Nevertheless, it might have the class-imbalance issue and doesn’t take into account label correlations. To address the above issues, we propose a novel multi-label classification model, which joints Ranking support vector machineNovember 6, 2019 and Binary Relevance with robust Low-rank learning (RBRL). RBRL inherits the ranking loss minimization advantages of Rank-SVM, and thus overcomes the disadvantages of BR suffering the class-imbalance issue and ignoring the label correlations. Meanwhile, it utilizes the hamming loss minimization and one-step learning advantages of BR, and thus tackles the disadvantages of Rank-SVM including another thresholding learning step. Besides, a low-rank constraint is utilized to further exploit high-order label correlations under the assumption of low dimensional label space. Furthermore, to achieve nonlinear multi-label classifiers, we derive the kernelization RBRL. Two accelerated proximal gradient methods (APG) are used to solve the optimization problems efficiently. Extensive comparative experiments with several state-of-the-art methods illustrate a highly competitive or superior performance of our method RBRL. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. Structural controllability of complex networks has been a research focus in recent years. However, few works considered the structural controllability of biological networks, especially for dynamic biological networks. In this paper, structural controllability of one static and five dynamic transcriptional regulatory networks (TRNs) for Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S. cerevisiae) have been investigated. The five dynamic networks included two endogenous and three exogenous ones. We clarified the controllability properties of these networks, as well as explored the differences among different types of networks. Our results revealed that the structural properties of different types of networks are significantly different. We found that the TRNs are rather difficult to be fully controlled. However, the dynamic TRNs were relatively easier to be controlled than the static one, and one needs relatively more external inputs to control the exogenous TRNs than the endogenous ones. Based on the structural controllability analysis of subnetworks with the same sizes, as well as randomly perturbed networks by preserving degree distributions, we further illustrated that the structural controllability of the six networks may be mainly dominated by their degree distributions. Our investigations clarify the control properties of TRNs in S. cerevisiae, it provides some insights on real-world control of biological networks. © 2018 IEEE.

Cyber security lacks comprehensive theoretical guidance. General security theory, as a set of basic security theory concepts, is intended to guide cyber security and all the other security work. The general theory of security aims to unify the main branches of cyber security and establish a unified basic theory. This paper proposal an overview on the general theory of security, which is devoted to constructing a comprehensive model of network security. The hierarchical structure of the meridian-collateral tree is described. Shannon information theory is employed to build a cyberspace security model. Some central concepts of security, i.e., the attack and defense, are discussed and several general theorems on security are presented.

Indoor 3D mapping provides a useful three-dimensional structure via an indoor map for many applications. To acquire highly efficient and relatively accurate mapping for large-scale GPS/GNSS-denied scene, we present an upgraded backpacked laser scanning system and a car-mounted indoor mobile laser scanning system. The systems provide both 3D laser scanning point cloud and camera images. In this paper, a simultaneous extrinsic calibration approach for multiple multi-beam LIDAR and multiple cameras is also proposed using the Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM)-based algorithm. The proposed approach uses the SLAM-based algorithm to achieve a large calibration scene using mobile platforms, registers an acquired multi-beam LIDAR point cloud to the terrestrial LIDAR point cloud to acquire denser points for corner feature extraction, and finally achieves simultaneous calibration. With the proposed mapping and calibration algorithms, we can provide centimetre-lever coloured point cloud with relatively high efficiency and accuracy. © Authors 2018. CC BY 4.0 License.

There are many classic problems in graph theory which can be applied to research fields ranging from computer vision to transportation planning. Petri Nets (PNs) are mathematical objects which can be demonstrated by live graphic elements such as Place and Transition. They are competent in formalizing and solving issues in Graph theory. Take maximum flow problem as an example, though it has been well studied, its properties are rarely explored in the perspective of PNs to the best of our knowledge. In this paper, a Petri Nets based maximum flow modeling approach is proposed. Specifically, PN models of flow networks and the corresponding residual networks are firstly introduced. Based on the proposed models, the way of finding a maximum flow for a given flow network is presented. The PNs based maximum flow approach not only can solve the problem accurately, but also is intuitive and easy to understand resulting from its graphic simulation processes. Additionally, it is feasible to extent this work to other problems in graph theory as well. © 2018, Springer International Publishing AG.

In order to provide guidance for the development of high performance millimeter-wave complementary metal oxide semiconductor(MMW-CMOS) integrated circuits(IC), this paper provides a survey of key technologies on MMW-CMOS IC. Technical background of MMW wireless communications is described. Then the recent development of the critical technologies of the MMW-CMOS IC are introduced in detail and compared. A summarization is given, and the development prospects on MMWCMOS IC are also discussed.

Nonparallel support vector machine (NPSVM) is a novel nonparallel classifier for binary classification with large amounts of theoretical and practical advantages. How to train NPSVM efficiently on data with huge dimensions has not been studied. Recently, a variety of minwise hashing algorithms such as b-bit minwise hashing, connected bit minwise hashing and f-fractional bit minwise hashing are effectively applied to obtain a compact representation of the original data. However, they still have serious defects that the generation of k random permutations is time-consuming and the processing of the original dataset damages data structure. Fortunately, a simple and effective solution called one permutation hashing appears to avoid the disadvantages of the expensive preprocessing cost and the destruction of the original dataset. In this paper, we combine one permutation hashing scheme with linear NPSVM to speed up the training and testing phases for classification on large-scale and high dimensional datasets. Both theoretical analyses and experiments demonstrate that our algorithm achieves massive advantages in accuracy, efficiency and energy-consumption.

Image aesthetic quality assessment has been a relatively hot topic during the last decade. Most recently, comments type assessment (aesthetic captions) has been proposed to describe the general aesthetic impression of an image using text. In this paper, we propose Aesthetic Attributes Assessment of Images, which means the aesthetic attributes captioning. This is a newformula of image aesthetic assessment, which predicts aesthetic attributes captions together with the aesthetic score of each attribute. We introduce a new dataset named DPC-Captions which contains comments of up to 5 aesthetic attributes of one image through knowledge transfer from a full-annotated small-scale dataset. Then, we propose Aesthetic Multi-Attribute Network (AMAN), which is trained on a mixture of fully-annotated small-scale PCCD dataset and weakly-annotated large-scale DPC-Captions dataset. Our AMAN makes full use of transfer learning and attention model in a single framework. The experimental results on our DPC-Captions and PCCD dataset reveal that our method can predict captions of 5 aesthetic attributes together with numerical score assessment of each attribute. We use the evaluation criteria used in image captions to prove that our specially designed AMAN model outperforms traditional CNN-LSTM model and modern SCA-CNN model of image captions. Efficient and accurate classification of high-resolution scene remains a challenge of within-class diversity and between-class similarity due to rich image variations in viewpoint, object pose, spatial resolution and background. To address these issues, we propose a multi-branch convolutional neural network (MB-CNN), which focuses on tackling the problem of learning the appropriate representation of a high-resolution scene that is rich enough to discriminate between different semantic classes. First, pyramid scene parsing network (PSPNet) with minor modification is introduced to gather global object information. Then, an attention net is proposed to highlight transformation invariance and key regions for attention feature extraction. Finally, above two branches are fused with original input branch to learn consistently semantic class information and generate powerful predictions. Our approach achieves better performance favorably against state-of-the-arts on two publicly available scene datasets.
