Prescriptive Manufacturing in Society 5.0: Human Autonomous Organizations and “On-Demand” Smart Services

Society 5.0 addresses human behaviors and their consequences in social management, while emphasizing the integration of Cyber-Physical-Social Spaces to achieve a highly connected and circulated society. Prompted by the various social needs expressed on social media platforms, Prescriptive Manufacturing (PM) emerges as a proactive pre-manufacturing paradigm. This paper delves into PM within the context of Society 5.0. It highlights the development of Human Autonomous Organizations (HAOs) and the delivery of “on-demand” smart services, which are customized to meet both individual and broader societal demands. The social sensing framework of social needs across different social media platforms that enables the identification and anticipation of consumer demands in real-time is illustrated. This data-driven insight leverages artificial intelligence and robotics to facilitate customized design and on-demand production, aligning product creation with real user requirements. Furthermore, we discuss the implementation of human-centered smart services in PM, such as virtual try-on, virtual fitting, personalized retrofit, user-friendly scheduling, and proximity logistics, which not only enhance consumer experience but also optimize resource efficiency By examining the symbiosis between technological advancements and social need fulfillment, this study sheds light on how PM and HAOs can foster a more responsive, sustainable, and inclusive economy in society, ultimately contributing to a higher quality of life and sustainable development goals of Society 5.0.

Population has a direct impact on the demands of consumption, resource, and employment. Population factors, such as size and growth rate, are crucial in making decisions and plans of trade, environment protection, resource allocation and human resource development. Thus, population projection is an essential part of strategy development for companies as well as governments, and draws the attention of many researchers. Some projection methods have been developed, but most of the popular ones require a vast knowledge in demography and only can be operated by skilled professionals. In this paper, as an improvement, we theoretically develop a regression model and a subtrend model of WASD（weights and structure determination）neural network in a simultaneous manner to make population projections especially of Germany in the mid term and near ***, we aim at utilizing the learning capabilities of the WASD neural-network models with single input and multiple inputs, having been very popular recently, to propose these easy-used and high accuracy models for verifications and projections via later computer experiments.

Harvesting energy from the human body to replenish existing energy sources is receiving substantial attention. Recently scientists have been focusing on harvesting biomechanical energy from human feet during walking. This paper develops a piezoelectric-based sole energy harvester that is designed to be worn on the bottom of shoes to harvest energy, thus powering wearable electronic devices. Specifically, a cam with piezoelectric(PZT) stacks is mounted on the heel to scavenge energy during the heel strike. The cam can change the input's direction from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction. In addition, the output power of this part can be optimized or improved by generating a specified cam profile. A bimorph piezoelectric plate is installed on the forefoot to convert the toes' bending deformation into electricity. Herein, piezoelectric Macro Fiber Composites (MFC) are employed to capture the large deformation. Preliminary testing on a healthy subject is conducted to validate this design. The average power output of the harvester is 8.83 m W.

The distributed constrained optimization problem over an undirected communication topology is investigated in this study. It focuses on addressing a global coupled equality constraint that applies to all agents. To tackle this problem, a distributed approach with arbitrary initialization is developed by virtue of the aperiodic sampling control idea and the consensus-based multi-agent system(MAS) technology. This approach is developed to address constrained optimization problems within a pre-specified time. In addition, this predefined time is freely defined by users and irrelevant to the initial states, control coefficients, and network structure of systems. The Lyapunov stability theory completes the convergence proof of the developed method. Then, the developed method is extended to handle distributed nonlinear constrained optimization problems. Finally, The availability of two developed methods is demonstrated through two simulation examples.

In Bayesian optimization (BO) for expensive black-box optimization tasks, acquisition function (AF) guides sequential sampling and plays a pivotal role for efficient convergence to better optima. Prevailing AFs usually rely on artificial experiences in terms of preferences for exploration or exploitation, which runs a risk of a computational waste or traps in local optima and resultant re-optimization. To address the crux, the idea of data-driven AF selection is proposed, and the sequential AF selection task is further formalized as a Markov decision process (MDP) and resort to powerful reinforcement learning (RL) technologies. Appropriate selection policy for AFs is learned from superior BO trajectories to balance between exploration and exploitation in real time, which is called reinforcement-learning-assisted Bayesian optimization (RLABO). Competitive and robust BO evaluations on five benchmark problems demonstrate RL's recognition of the implicit AF selection pattern and imply the proposal's potential practicality for intelligent AF selection as well as efficient optimization in expensive black-box problems. A brain-computer interface (BCI) enables direct communication between the human brain and external devices. Electroencephalography (EEG) based BCIs are currently the most popular for able-bodied users. To increase user-friendliness, usually a small amount of user-specific EEG data are used for calibration, which may not be enough to develop a pure data-driven decoding model. To cope with this typical calibration data shortage challenge in EEG-based BCIs, this paper proposes a parameter-free channel reflection (CR) data augmentation approach that incorporates prior knowledge on the channel distributions of different BCI paradigms in data augmentation. Experiments on eight public EEG datasets across four different BCI paradigms (motor imagery, steady-state visual evoked potential, P300, and seizure classifications) using different decoding algorithms demonstrated that: 1) CR is effective, i.e., it can noticeably improve the classification accuracy;2) CR is robust, i.e., it consistently outperforms other data augmentation approaches in the literature;and, 3) CR is flexible, i.e., it can be combined with other data augmentation approaches to further increase the performance. We suggest that data augmentation approaches like CR should be an essential step in EEG-based BCIs. Our code is available online. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

At present, the train level network control communication mostly adopts the twisted Wire Train Bus (WTB) cable transmission. But its speed is slow and the amount of transmitted data is small, so it is difficult to meet the current requirements. Therefore, the high-speed and large amount of industrial Ethernet communication will become the mainstream of the future train level network control communication. It will research the train level network control communication based on the Train Real-time Data Protocol (TRDP) in combination with the requirements of the research project-200 km/h power centralized Electric Multiple Unit (EMU), and compare the international standards and the national standards of China in this paper. It will adopt the method of combining process data and message data to realize the data interaction requirements between the central control unit and the Ethernet Train Backbone Node (ETBN), acquire relevant data of Ethernet Train Backbone (ETB) nodes and vehicle formation information of the whole vehicle, and further acquire control data of the multiple connected vehicles. At the same time, transmit the control data and message data of the own vehicle to the multiple connected vehicles, so as to realize interconnection and mutual control between multiple connected vehicles. In order to improve the correctness and real-time of data transmission, it introduced the Secure Data Transmission protocol version2(SDTv2) for communication between the central control unit and other equipment in this project, and completed the interconnection test with the Ethernet card of Swiss Duagon company to ensure the safety and reliability of important data.

Two-dimensional van der Waals magnetic materials have shown fascinating natural ferromagnetic properties at the atomic level, which has great potential in fields of low power spintronics, quantum computing and optical communication. Herein, the ferromagnetism and magnetic anisotropy of bulk Fe3GeTe2 (FGT) were investigated, and the testing results indicate a pronounced vertical magnetic anisotropy below the Curie temperature (Tc=165 K) of FGT. In addition, the anomalous Hall effect of FGT nanoflakes was studied at various temperatures and thicknesses by standard Hall bar device in detail. The results show the anomalous Hall resistance (0.764 Ω at 20 K decreased to 0.332 Ω at 140 K) and the obvious rectangular magnetic hysteresis rings below Tc (165 K). Furthermore, we calculated the carrier concentration (2.5×1022 cm-3 at 20K) and mobility (13.3 cm2/(v·s) at 20K) under large magnetic field (-6 T~6 T). Particularly, we demonstrated that the strong tailoring ability of the anomalous Hall effect for FGT-based magnetoelectric transport devices comes form the regulation of magnetic moment by sample thickness and magnetic field angle. The above experimental results verify that FGT is expected to be a prime candidate material for ultrathin 2D spintronic devices to the next generation. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

PM₂.₅ Monitoring: Use Information Abundance Measurement and Wide and Deep Learning

This article devises a photograph-based monitoring model to estimate the real-time PM concentrations, overcoming currently popular electrochemical sensor-based PM monitoring methods' shortcomings such as low-density spatial distribution and time delay. Combining the proposed monitoring model, the photographs taken by various camera devices (e.g., surveillance camera, automobile data recorder, and mobile phone) can widely monitor PM concentration in megacities. This is beneficial to offering helpful decision-making information for atmospheric forecast and control, thus reducing the epidemic of COVID-19. To specify, the proposed model fuses Information Abundance measurement and Wide and Deep learning, dubbed as IAWD, for PM monitoring. First, our model extracts two categories of features in a newly proposed DS transform space to measure the information abundance (IA) of a given photograph since the growth of PM concentration decreases its IA. Second, to simultaneously possess the advantages of memorization and generalization, a new wide and deep neural network is devised to learn a nonlinear mapping between the above-mentioned extracted features and the groundtruth PM concentration. Experiments on two recently established datasets totally including more than 100 000 photographs demonstrate the effectiveness of our extracted features and the superiority of our proposed IAWD model as compared to state-of-the-art relevant computing techniques.

This paper proposes a control scheme based on impedance control for the smoothing control of the operating movements of a lower-limb hemiplegic exoskeleton robot on the basis of a new composite modular lower-limb hemiplegic ex-oskeleton(CMLHE) structure. The CMLHE has good structural performance and can be used in the rehabilitation of patients with hemiplegia caused by stroke and other diseases. At the same time, the smoothing control by means of impedance control ensures that patients with lower limb hemiplegia can use the CMLHE to achieve smooth walking movements without additional injuries caused by the CMLHE during the rehabilitation training. This paper analyses the performance of this CMLHE robot based on walking movements and demonstrates through kinematic and kinetic modelling and simulation that the impedance control scheme of this CMLHE robot is feasible and effective and can be more widely used in the rehabilitation training of patients with lower limb hemiplegia. © 2021 IEEE.
