A novel super-resolution approach is presented. An image pyramid has been built based on the framework of wavelet transform, and the detailed coefficients are explored for training the neural networks. The initial high resolution image is estimated by the trained networks and the inverse wavelet transform, and then is constrained with prior knowledge of the error function by iteration. For a factor of 2n, repeat this process and update the networks. The experimental results show that our method reconstructs the more reliable image without obvious visual artifacts. © 2012 IEEE.

Color-difference was presented to assess the lycopene content conveniently and non-destructively. Due to excessive affecting factors and strong correlation among the parameters in the process, the support vector machine (SVM) was used to set up the predict model. The selection and simplification of the feature parameters was discussed. A compound optimal objective function based on Akaike information criterion (AIC) was constructed. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm was used to search the optimal value of the objective function and enhance the efficiency. The predictable method had good performance in assessing the lycopene content of different maturity stages.

A new approach to extraction of affine invariant features of contour image and matching strategy is proposed for shape ***,the centroid distance and azimuth angle of each boundary point are ***,with a prior-defined angle interval,all the points in the neighbor region of the sample point are considered to calculate the average distance for eliminating *** that,the centroid distance ratios（CDRs） of any two opposite contour points to the barycenter are achieved as the representation of the shape,which will be invariant to affine *** the angles of contour points will change non-linearly among affine related images,the CDRs should be resampled and combined sequentially to build one-by-one matching pairs of the corresponding *** core issue is how to determine the angle positions for sampling,which can be regarded as an optimization problem of path *** ant colony optimization（ACO）-based path planning model with some constraints is presented to address this ***,the Euclidean distance is adopted to evaluate the similarity of shape features in different *** experimental results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method in shape recognition with translation,scaling,rotation and distortion.

The seed germination and plant growth of Sorghum sudanense Stapf, Amaranthus hypochondriacus L. and cowpea was performed investigate the biodegradability of PBS in soil extract liquid, discussed the effect of polymers, oligomers and monomers of PBS on germination and growth of plants. The results showed that Microorganisms in the soil extract liquid can degrade PBS and the pH of the degradation liquid does not change significantly;The degradation of polymer has little effect on plant growth;The degradation products of PBS inhibit the growth of some seedlings in initial stages, but have no effect in later stage;When the concentration of succinate is lower than 200mg·L-1, succinate has no effect upon plant seed germination and seedling growth, however, when it is higher than 500mg·L -1, seedling growth will be inhibited. When the 1, 4-butanediol concentration is less than 2000mg·L-1, it has no effect on seed germination and growth. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper is concerned with the problems of H-two filtering for discrete-time Markovian jump linear systems subject to logarithmic quantization. We assume that only the output of the system is available, and therefore the mode information is nonaccessible. In this paper, a mode-independent quantized H-two filter is designed such that filter error system is stochastically stable. To this end, sufficient conditions for the existence of an upper bound of H-two norm are presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Considering uncertainty of system matrices, a robust H-two filter is designed. The proposed method is also applicable to cover the case where the transition probability matrix is not exactly known but belongs to a given polytope. Finally, numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

A novel super-resolution approach is presented. It is based on the local Lipschitz regularity of wavelet transform along scales to predict the new detailed coefficients and their gradients from the horizontal, vertical and diagonal directions after extrapolation. They form inputs of a synthesis wavelet filter to perform the undecimated inverse wavelet transform without registration error, to obtain the output image and its gradient map respectively. Finally, the gradient descent algorithm is applied to the output image combined with the newly generated gradient map. Experiments show that our method improves in both the objective evaluation of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) with the greatest improvement of 1.32 dB and the average of 0.56 dB, and the subjective evaluation in the edge pixels and even in the texture regions, compared to the "bicubic" interpolation algorithm. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

The paper analyzed and model of a fault tolerant electromechanical controlled worm gear driven fuel shut off valve for aerospace application. The analysis is mainly on design a reduced order fractional controller. This is for controlling the velocity of worm gear so that the friction torque due to uneven rotational speed can be avoided. Because with the friction and stiction and backlash the valve system performance is reduced and more and more unstable this leads the system to failure. The proposed controller can provide robustness against the uncertain loading torque and system parameter.

Spatio-temporal evolution of Beijing 2003 SARS epidemic

Studying spatio-temporal evolution of epidemics can uncover important aspects of interaction among people, infectious diseases, and the environment, providing useful insights and modeling support to facilitate public health response and possibly prevention measures. This paper presents an empirical spatio-temporal analysis of epidemiological data concerning 2321 SARS-infected patients in Beijing in 2003. We mapped the SARS morbidity data with the spatial data resolution at the level of street and township. Two smoothing methods, Bayesian adjustment and spatial smoothing, were applied to identify the spatial risks and spatial transmission trends. Furthermore, we explored various spatial patterns and spatio-temporal evolution of Beijing 2003 SARS epidemic using spatial statistics such as Moran’s I and LISA. Part of this study is targeted at evaluating the effectiveness of public health control measures implemented during the SARS epidemic. The main findings are as follows. (1) The diffusion speed of SARS in the northwest-southeast direction is weaker than that in northeast-southwest direction. (2) SARS’s spread risk is positively spatially associated and the strength of this spatial association has experienced changes from weak to strong and then back to weak during the lifetime of the Beijing SARS epidemic. (3) Two spatial clusters of disease cases are identified: one in the city center and the other in the eastern suburban area. These two clusters followed different evolutionary paths but interacted with each other as well. (4) Although the government missed the opportunity to contain the early outbreak of SARS in March 2003, the response strategies implemented after the mid of April were effective. These response measures not only controlled the growth of the disease cases, but also mitigated the spatial diffusion.
