Micro-simulation becomes more and more important in the Intelligent Transportation systems (ITS) research, because it can provide detailed descriptions of the system. For a multi-agent systems (MAS) modeling of an ITS, the computation burden is large, as it involves the computation of the state changing of all the agents. And, there are many multi-objective optimization problems in the ITS research. In this paper, we solve the traffic light signaling optimization problem and we take the average delay time and the average stop times as two objectives. We use a famous method of Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II). As NSGA-II can be viewed as an intelligent way of running a number of micro-simulations, usually the computation burden is huge. Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) have been a popular tool for parallel computing. The real transportation system runs in parallel and we think that a parallel tool is more suitable for the simulation and optimization of the system. We test GPU based NSGA-II method on a 4 intersection lattice road network, and on the 18 intersection road network of the Zhongguancun area of Beijing. Compared with the CPU version, the GPU version implementation achieves a speedup factor of 21.46 and 27.64 respectively.

Recently, the rapidly increasing demand for cutting of large-sized flat work pieces calls for the emergence of large waterjet cutting machine tools. Multi-bridge waterjet cutting machines are one of the preferred solutions. However, there must be an overlap between the work areas of any pair of adjacent bridges on each of which a workhead with a nozzle is installed in a multi-bridge machine to ensure that no dead zones exist for cutting. It means that a pair of adjacent bridges may crash with each other over their superposed processing area and result in damages or a breakdown of the machine. It is an interference problem that a multi-bridge machine suffers from. This paper proposes a coordination policy to avoid interference, where the dimensional overlap of any pair of adjacent bridges is transformed into those of their processing time sequences. Thus, by shifting the processing time sequences to eliminate the time overlaps, the collision between the corresponding two bridges can be avoided. Subsequently, to enhance reliability of the system, a GA-based optimization algorithm incorporated with the coordination policy is designed for scheduling the multiple cutting paths of a machine to minimize the totally potential need of coordination. The validity of the presented method is confirmed by applying it into a case study. © 2012 CIE & SAIIE.

Human-like Manipulation Planning for Articulated Manipulator

A new method based on human-likeness assessment and optimization concept to solve the problem of human-like ma- nipulation planning for articulated robot is proposed in this paper. This method intrinsically formulates the problem as a con- strained optimization problem in robot configuration space. The robot configuration space is divided into different subregions by human likeness assessment. A widely used strategy, Rapid Upper Limb Assessment （RULA） in applied ergonomics, is adopted here to evaluate the human likeness of robot configuration. A task compatibility measurement of the robot velocity transmission ratio along a specified direction is used as the target function for the optimization problem. Simple illustrative examples of this method applied to a two Degree of Freedom （DOF） planar robot that resembles the upper limb of a human are presented. Further applications to a humanoid industrial robot SDA10D are also presented. The reasonable planning results for these applications assert the effectiveness of our method.

In this paper, containment control for continuous-time multi-agent systems with multiple interacting leaders is investigated. According to the role each agent plays in the multi-agent team, the agents are classified into two categories: leaders and followers. The containment control problem in this paper is that the leaders converge to a desired formation and the followers move into the convex hull spanned by the leaders' final positions. A sufficient condition for containment control is that the union of the interaction graphs has a spanning tree frequently enough as the system evolves. It is shown that the followers' positions in the convex hull are dynamic due to the switching topology. The theoretical results are illustrated by some simulations.

Target tracking is one of the applications of wireless sensor networks（WSNs）.It is assumed that each sensor has a limited range for detecting the presence of the object,and the network is sufficiently dense so that the sensors can cover the area of *** to the limited battery resources of sensors,there is a tradeoff between the energy consumption and tracking *** solve this problem,this paper proposes an energy efficient tracking *** on the cooperation of dispatchers,sensors in the area are scheduled to switch their working mode to track the *** energy consumed in active mode is higher than that in monitoring or sleeping mode,for each sampling interval,a minimum set of sensors is woken up based on the select ***,other sensors keep in sleeping *** analysis and simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides a better performance than other existing approaches.

Unlike triple-polarized antennas, dual-polarized antennas can be easily implemented into thickness limited devices and thus have received much attention recently. Dual-polarized antennas have the potential to double the channel capacity in comparison with an omnidirectional single-input single-output (SISO) system. However, in real three-dimensional (3D) scenarios, dual-polarized antennas cannot capture the arriving power from the third polarization direction, which is orthogonal to the two-dimensional (2D) polarization plane. This will lead to power loss, which may significantly affect the resultant channel capacity. By proposing a novel two-sphere single-bounced geometry-based stochastic model (GBSM) and rigorously analyzing the change of polarization after single-bounced scattering, this paper studies the impact of the power loss on the channel capacity and specifies the conditions under which the channel capacity of dual-polarized systems is even worse than that of omnidirectional SISO systems. Not only that this is the first endeavor on this subject, but also this work is of practical importance in guiding appropriate deployment of dual-polarized antennas in real 3D indoor scenarios.

Social networks often serve as a critical medium for information dissemination, diffusion of epidemics, and spread of behavior, by shared activities or similarities be- tween individuals. Recently, we have witnessed an explosion of interest in studying social influence and spread dynamics in social networks. To date, relatively little material has been provided on a comprehensive review in this field. This brief survey addresses this issue. We present the current significant empirical studies on real social systems, including network construction methods, measures of network, and newly em- pirical results. We then provide a concise description of some related social models from both macro- and micro-level per- spectives. Due to the difficulties in combining real data and simulation data for verifying and validating real social sys- tems, we further emphasize the current research results of computational experiments. We hope this paper can provide researchers significant insights into better understanding the characteristics of personal influence and spread patterns in large-scale social systems.

The job-shop-like knowledgeable manufacturing cell scheduling is a NP-complete problem and there has not been a completely valid algorithm for it until now. An algorithm with self -learning ability is proposed through the addition of precedence constraint of operations on the basis of directed graph. A method based on support vector machine is constructed to choose accurately interchangeable operations by small samples earning to obtain the better scheduling. The classification accuracy can be improved by the continuous addition of new instances to the sample library. The results of simulation show that the algorithm performs well for the job-shop-like knowledgeable manufacturing cell. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

This paper deals with an approach to the automatic construction and optimization of the knowledge mesh (KM) based on the user's function requirements. Once a KM multiple set operation expression is obtained, a new KM can be inferred from the expression by the developed KM-based inference engine and transformed into its corresponding KMS (knowledgeable manufacturing system) software automatically by the developed automatic program construction software so as to realize the self-reconfiguration of the KMS. Thus, the automatic construction and optimization of a KM multiple set operation expression is equivalent to the automatic construction and optimization of its corresponding KM and KMS software. To explore the automatic construction and optimization of the new KM by the user's function requirements, an automatic construction procedure of a KM aiming at the user's maximum function-satisfaction is proposed. Firstly, the fuzzy function-satisfaction degree relationships of the users' requirements for the KM functions are defined, and so are the multiple fuzzy function-satisfaction degrees of the relationships. Secondly, operations (union, intersection and minus) on both fuzzy and multiple fuzzy function-satisfaction degrees are proposed and clarified, along with the proof that there exists a one-to-one mapping between the KM multiple set operation expression and the KM-function-satisfaction degree expression. Then, the optimization model of the KM multiple set operation expression is constructed and proved to be very NP-hard. And finally, the KM multiple set operation expression is optimized by the hybrid genetic-tabu algorithm, with the steps of the KM's automatic construction presented in detail as well. Based upon the above, the KM's automatic construction and optimization are illustrated by an actual KM example which corresponds to the management information system (MIS) software used in a vehicle body plant. The proposed approach proves to be very effective. © 2011

This paper carried out the absorbance experiments on different pesticide formulations and mixed pesticide concentration sensor design for online mixing system based on the precision spray requirements. There are many different pesticide formorlations, among which wettable powder (WP) and emulsifiable concentrates (EC) are most widely used ones in China. The optical methods were chosen for quick and precise measurement based on the physical characteristics of commonly used pesticide formulations and generally low spraying concentrations. Firstly we carried out monochromatic light absorbance experiments to study the optical properties of different pesticide formulations. We prepared the solutions with different possible spraying concentrations of WP and EC of several commonly used pesticdes and used UV-Vis spectrophotometer to measur the absorbance of the prepared solutions. The experiment results show that: in the UV-visible wavelength range, the absorbances of the suspension or emulsion of WP or EC generally decrease with increasing optical wavelength, but the solution concentration and the absorbance value is not proportional. In the 600-800nm range the absorbances have good differentiation. In order to select the appropriate absorbance range of wavelengths and considering the available of laser diode, the monochromatic light with wavelength of 650nm was chosen as the source light. Then we carried out the preliminary design of mixed pesticide concentration sensor. The sensor is composed of monochromatic light source module, the light detection circuit and signal processing module. The structure of the sensor was also preliminarily designed.
