Oral history involves conveying experienced events through spoken narratives, typically preserved and later studied by converting spoken language into text. Named entity recognition (NER) is the recognition of meaningful named entities in text, such as person names, locations, organizations, etc. Conducting NER research on oral history text is significant as it not only facilitates the verification of named entities by researchers but also allows for the extraction of key information from texts through named entities. By collecting oral history corpus, we establish an oral history text dataset, manually annotating all texts with six entity labels and repeatedly verifying them manually. Utilizing the concept of machine reading comprehension (MRC), a semantic fusion module was added, integrating label information into text information using a cross-attention mechanism, and decoding the corresponding entity labels through span decoding. The final model performs well on the oral history text dataset and also showed good performance on general Chinese datasets.

Most current representations of protein pockets are the atom-pair graph, which ignore the global structural information of amino acids. Therefore, we propose a new molecular generation model, which uses the hypergraph to represent protein pocket structure, and combines the structural features obtained by atom-pair graph representation. These two levels of graphs are more capable of representing the complex structural information of protein pockets. Then, the graphs of the two levels of the protein pockets are input into the improved network model, which is named Hypergraph Graph Attention Fusion (HGAF), to obtain the embedding representation of the protein pockets, which is used as a condition to constrain the molecule generation. The molecules sampled by HGAF are subjected to quality assessment and docking targeting validation. Experimental results show that the molecules generated by proposed method can achieve better results in both of these assessment approaches.

Computer-aided drug design and artificial intelligence-driven drug design have accelerated drug discovery. However, how to design effective drugs that have strong interaction ability with target proteins to further improve the efficacy of drugs in treating diseases remains a key issue. This paper proposes a new target-specific drug generative model 3CLpro2mol to generate new drug molecules, which uses features of drug-target interactions (DTIs) to constrain the correlation between the drug and the target protein. To obtain as many drug-target interaction features as possible from a small amount of data, a small molecule extraction strategy is proposed to ensure the diversity of small molecules in the training samples. To improve the efficiency and accuracy of the generative model, a TOP K sampling strategy is used to generate tokens, which can improve the rationality and diversity of the generated molecules. The experimental results show that the proposed model has the potential to generate small molecules that interact better with the target protein.

A more precise sparse region convolutional neural network algorithm is developed to increase the accuracy of remote sensing object recognition. Firstly, a new intersection over union method is proposed to solve the problem that the intersection over union used in sparse region convolutional neural network cannot well measure the offset between the ground-truth box and the proposal box. It introduces multiple geo-metric factors that are overlap area, center point distance, vertex distance between the ground-truth box and the proposal box, and diagonal distance of minimum enclosing of the ground-truth box and the proposal box and into the new intersection over union. The proposed intersection over union can measure the offset between the ground-truth box and the proposal box to optimal the proposal box. Secondly, to improve the detection precision of sparse region convolutional neural network, a dual branches dynamic instance interaction head is designed. The proposed dynamic interaction head consists of a fully connected branch and a convolution branch. The fully connected head is used for both bounding box regression and object classification. The convolution branch is only used for bounding box regression. Compared with original sparse region convolutional neural network, the average mAP and recall are 3.55% and 5.75% higher, and the average detection speed is only 0.85 FPS slower. As a metric to measure the information freshness, Age of information (AoI) is widely used to evaluate low-latency high-reliability communication. Since the communication in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) often has the special requirements, the relationship among AoI, reliability and block length in time-critical scenarios with bounded latency and non-time-critical scenarios without bounded latency is explored respectively in this paper, based on erasure channels using rateless codes. We build a model using LT codes over erasure channels and consider two metrics: average AoI and bounded AoI. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that AoI has a minimum value with different block lengths. Furthermore, we draw a conclusion that the minimum value of AoI under different reliability is monotonically decreasing functioned with reliability. Finally, the impact of overhead on reliability and AoI of LT codes in time-critical scenarios is studied.

DeepEraser: Deep Iterative Context Mining for Generic Text Eraser

In this work, we present DeepEraser, an effective deep network for generic text removal. DeepEraser utilizes a recurrent architecture that erases the text in an image via iterative operations. Our idea comes from the process of erasing pencil script, where the text area designated for removal is subject to continuous monitoring and the text is attenuated progressively, ensuring a thorough and clean erasure. Technically, at each iteration, an innovative erasing module is deployed, which not only explicitly aggregates the previous erasing progress but also mines additional semantic context to erase the target text. Through iterative refinements, the text regions are progressively replaced with more appropriate content and finally converge to a relatively accurate status. Furthermore, a custom mask generation strategy is introduced to improve the capability of DeepEraser for adaptive text removal, as opposed to indiscriminately removing all the text in an image. Our DeepEraser is notably compact with only 1.4M parameters and trained in an end-to-end manner. To verify its effectiveness, extensive experiments are conducted on several prevalent benchmarks, including SCUT-Syn, SCUT-EnsText, and Oxford Synthetic text dataset. The quantitative and qualitative results demonstrate the effectiveness of our DeepEraser over the state-of-the-art methods, as well as its strong generalization ability in custom mask text removal. The decoding success rate may be worse when classical degree distributions are used in short-packet transmission of rateless codes, especially in industrial communication scenarios. A novel Boltzmann degree distribution is proposed for Luby Transform (LT) codes. The Boltzmann degree distribution has a high decoding success rate for short-packet transmission but a lower decoding success rate in long-packet transmission. To balance the performance of rateless codes for short and long packet transmission, the Boltzmann degree distribution and the robust soliton distribution (RSD) are combined with a new joint degree distribution, called Boltzmann Robust Soliton Distribution (BRSD). Simulation results show that compared with RSD and Poisson robust soliton distribution (PRSD), the proposed joint distribution can achieve a higher decoding success rate and reduce the average degree, especially in short-packet transmission of industrial communication.

This paper proposes an enhanced McEliece cryptosystem, leveraging a concatenation scheme of Polar codes and blocked QC-LDPC codes. During the key generation phase, the generator matrices for both Polar and blocked QC-LDPC codes are employed as private keys. These matrices are subsequently multiplied by reversible and random permutation matrices respectively. The products of these multiplications are then combined to form the public key, effectively concealing the structural properties of the generator matrices. In the encryption phase, the plaintext is encrypted sequentially through the Polar codes and the blocked QC-LDPC codes. This process introduces two layers of random error vectors, culminating in the generation of the encrypted ciphertext. The proposed scheme reduces the public key length by 54% and doubles the security level compared to the original McEliece scheme with similar parameters. It also significantly reduces the total key length compared to improved schemes based on Polar codes and QC-LDPC/MDPC codes at an 80-bit security level, and shortens the private key length compared to schemes based on Polar-LDPC concatenated codes. Notably, the scheme is secure against known structural and decoding attacks while increases resistance to information set decoding (ISD) attacks. Through the randomization and hashing of the plaintext, the proposed scheme can achieve IND-CCA2 security.

ROLL: Long-Term Robust LiDAR-based Localization With Temporary Mapping in Changing Environments

Long-term scene changes present challenges to localization systems using a pre-built map. This paper presents a LiDAR-based system that can provide robust localization against those challenges. Our method starts with activation of a mapping process temporarily when global matching towards the pre-built map is unreliable. The temporary map will be merged onto the pre-built map for later localization runs once reliable matching is obtained again. We further integrate a LiDAR inertial odometry (LIO) to provide motion-compensated LiDAR scans and a reliable initial pose guess for the global matching module. To generate a smooth real-time trajectory for navigation purposes, we fuse poses from odometry and global matching by solving a pose graph optimization problem. We evaluate our localization system with extensive experiments on the NCLT dataset including a variety of changing indoor and outdoor environments, and the results demonstrate a robust and accurate localization performance for over a year. In conventional servo system with transmission mechanisms, the transmission backlash seems to be an inevitable phenomenon in many applications. Excessive backlash can lead to relative motion between the servo motor and the load, resulting in response delays, instability, and oscillations, consequently causing a decline in the dynamic performance of the system. To mitigate the negative effects of transmission backlash, this paper proposes a model-based backstepping adaptive control algorithm and a switching compensation approach tailored to transmission backlash. A feed-forward control gap compensation method is suggested. Leveraging identified servo system parameter information, this method achieves compensation and suppression of the nonlinearity caused by backlash. The efficacy of the proposed method is verified through theoretical analysis and simulation experiments, which also guaranteed its capability to effectively enhance the tracking accuracy and stability of the servo system while suppressing undesirable phenomena caused by backlash.
